Voting for TWS is not going to do much holmes. We'll just bounce on his head again. I support a deadline.
@Draygn Mage: Thats a good point. I'm surprised you weren't informed. Does anyone remember what No. 2 the character did? I'm guessing it's not from HHG because I don't remeber it, but I could easily have forgotten.
case on A_H (after my attack of #1295) : he lied about DYH's scumminess. True, but LAL is not a good play here, as A_H's actions make far more sense in a T&J situation than in a scum-attacking-townie one.
Doesn't answer that.
after more consideration, and some re-reading, you're right, unvote
#1334 : got on too late to vote Machin Shin, else would have voted him.
Well, you were on to post #826, at which time Machin Shin had clearly been the main one under scrutiny for pages (started in #597 - from what I could find, maybe earlier as others have said - and pressure increasing after deadline announcement in #802). You didn't even mention the subject, so excuse-me for any possible lack of trust I may have here.

Ok, along with your hypocricy regarding fishing, your vote hoping, and your overall lack of coherant content in your posts, the fact that you keep bringing up nameclaiming bothers me. You must have been given a great false name claim...let's hear it. Vote: Beaker
Oh yeah...I guess my last post to Puzzle didn't get through. It mostly said that I see his point regarding the whole content deal and that I pretty much agree with the idea, as long as it actually gets actual discussion going. [merge this]
I live in the past. So I was thinking about the attempted TWS lynch and claim. Who claims unlynchability? It just can't be. It's not right. And the random death, what is that? As someone said, his role is antithetical to the idea of mafia. I don't believe him. Perhaps he isn't unlynchable, but meerly hard to lynch. Let's try it again. With everyone voting him. Then he may die. Unvote, Vote: TWS
@Puzzle: Sorry to take wind from your sails. If this fails, I'm behind your Beaker wagon 100 percent.
He's neutral, perhaps daykiller. The random death in his claim was antithetical to mafia, not the unlynchability. And those are someone elses words, not mine.
Wait, so TWS isn't scum, but we want to potentially waste a lynch on him?
I may be mis-remembering, but the last time we tried, it just "failed", right, and the lynch wasn't wasted.
What I don't like is that he just sits there, Neutral, and apparantly can't be killed. What's even the point of a role like that? But if it was SK, then he could have a one shot lynch immunity or something.
I may be mis-remembering, but the last time we tried, it just "failed", right, and the lynch wasn't wasted.

Exactly. Pretty much as I said when he gave us his role- it's stupid, and makes no sense.
I don't like how A_H has shifted the attention off Beaker with this sidetrack, however. I think we're on to something with him.
Of note: TWS hasn't posted in a game on 'Tings in eight days, and it's the same here. He was on last night, though. Can we get a prod? There are others missing, as well. I know Peregrine Falcon just requested a replacement in RotK mafia.
Peregrine Falcon has requested some time to find a solution for an absence in the near future. If he does not find one in the next two days, I will seek a replacement.
Also, a deadline is being imposed for Wednesday at 12:00 noon, MST.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
While on the subject of changing targets randomly
has anyone noticed the interesting absence of Diggy?
I'm not trying to lead attention away from A_H or Holmes, yo

I wasn't aware Holmes was of concern? The two "hot topics" are Beaker and TWS, with A_H switching to the latter in the middle of discussion of the first.
Diggy's absence is bothersome- he'd fall under the category of those MIA I mentioned above with this:

There are others missing, as well.
We're on a deadline, now, it's time for those folks to show up and get involved.
If we fail the lynch, we sidetracked the town a lot. If we suceed, we just lynched a neutral that we know is neutral. Most times I want a neutral lynched we have no good target or they aren't 100% neutral.

To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
My problem is that I'm not convinced he's a neutral. That said, with a deadline, I'd rather we keep focused and not disperse ourselves, i.e. we should lynch Beaker.
If we all vote immediatly on TWS, we'll have time to test it and then lynch beaker.
That should provide you enough pressure, I think, since you didn't do it after Holmes' nor Absolutionis' vote. I'm already convinced you're scum on the points I presented earlier, anyhow, but let's hear it.

Why do you bring this subject on the table now if it's not an attack ?
About A_H : Everyone realizes that he lied about DYH being scum. Thing is : his lie makes much more sense from a T&J situation than from being a scum himself. I don't think we should follow the LAL rule to the letter here.
By the way, this is in reference to me questioning the attack on Diggy or asking what it was(if you don't remember). The reason I asked was because when I was re-reading the thread to find the posts that A_H mentioned, I saw someone say that they are suspicious of Diggy. I was curious for this suspicion, because it was never really mentioned. (it still isn't that explicit)

3. If your methods could have killed me, you'd think I would have gotten some indication that I had been investigated. Thus, I am against any plan that involves Puzzle investigating people he doesn't think are scum.
4. I am against any plan of limiting information available to the town, especially if the scum could have a clue as to what it is and thus work it out together.
5. I am currently against a plan of letting Holmes live out the day, due to his last post, and the vibes I've been getting for a while now.

I'm not being 100% accusatory towards he
but by flavor alone I'm suspicious of Diggy.
The Ancient Mariner in the poem shot the albatross
and had terrible luck in the ship get spread across.
If a better target presents itself I will switch
but vote Diggy for now is who I think we should ditch.
I'm still suspicious of Holmes (being a mason doesn't give you authority to act scummy anyway as there are such things as townie-scum mason groups). However, I can see no one is going to follow me there, so
Why do we need a Diggy wagon? I think an A_H wagon would be much more benificial for the town. Unless i'm mistaken (which i could be) did he not lie to us about DYH? And is that not auto lynch worthy?
well, no. LAL is not always the best plan. However, he has acted very scummily in addition to this lie. You all know I am suspicious of him. The question is if we are considering flavor. Because logically, Arthur Dent has to be town.
And Puzzle. Feel free to note it. It sure as hell seems like we can't lynch him, last I checked. We already tried it. And if he can't be lynched then he is highly unlikely to mafia, as that would be so unfair it would ruin the game. If the vig died, then we would lose. So one follows from the other, which follows from empirical proof (we couldn't lynch him before)
But then again, if a good case were made against him, I'd vote him. I just don't think it will do anything, and that it distracts from the current case at hand. Remember, if we have a bandwagon on TWS and the day ends by deadline, we get a no-lynch. That isn't good...
It is also possible that to die, he has to be voted by a certain person. And there are lots of people who didn't vote him before, myself included. It could be one of us that needs to vote him.
Anyway, I am not quite sure about what to think about Beaker's claim. It could be a good one, it could be bad. How is it verifiable, other than waiting another day?
Why do we need a Diggy wagon? I think an A_H wagon would be much more benificial for the town. Unless i'm mistaken (which i could be) did he not lie to us about DYH? And is that not auto lynch worthy?
A doublepost indeed, and I am sorry
But I have something to add to this safari.
As Puzzle stated and I agree
It was a T+J thing to a degree
We do not need another lynch of a townie
Detrimental or not, he's still a townie
We'd end up lynching one person just towards waste
And mafia gets a nightkill to add to the town's waste.
Two townies dead, what a terrible trade
a poor decision that would have made.
You're seemingly trying to shift the blame
rather than defend yourself with any acclaim.
For that alone, I believe you already know
A standing vote on you I bestow.
An enhancer does just that, their target's ability is enhanced... So for example if Beaker targeted Puzzle tonight then [I assume]that Puzzle would be able to investigate 2 people.
but if Twomz blocked him, then he wouldn't be able to use his ability until tomorrow night, or at least that's what Twomz said.
Ummmm, then I guess it is down to the mod to decide what happens, it could be that Beaker enchancing a roleblocked player would effectivly prevent the roleblocking from happening.
Avabob, who are you refering to? As I doubt that Puzzle would be blocked by Twomz for 2 nights running.
as I recall, Twomz had a 2-night delay roleblock. That would mean the abilities were blocked for two nights and then happened on the third. Because it hasn't been a full two nights, I think Puzzle will still be blocked, unfortunately. Unless Twomz didn't roleblock Puzzle, but someone else did...
I'm still suspicious of Holmes (being a mason doesn't give you authority to act scummy anyway as there are such things as townie-scum mason groups). However, I can see no one is going to follow me there, so
unvote, vote diggy
The flavor on that claim just sounds wrong.
Well, the definition of a mason is that both players know the other is town. If he came up as a mason (which if iirc, he did), then it is confirmed that the other is town. It would be bastard modding if he called a lover/sister/brother relationship "mason" because it would completely screw over the town. (See Sin City Mafia, 1 was a mason group, the other was not, but the players refused to see that, thus the scrum won.)
But yeah, if he didn't come up as a "mason" then my mind is incorrect and disregard that.

You know, it gets a bit old to have people keep talking about how "scummy" you are without ever actually giving a basis for it. That's a scum tactic there.
It's actually less suspicious to just vote and give no basis whatsoever, though apparantly people here can't handle that particular strategy and lose there minds when it happens.
I don't know what to think about Beaker. The roles in this game are just weird. But I could still get on a Diggy wagon. I still haven't heard why that vote-stealing ability couldn't be mafia. It doesn't seem uber powerful and the person can still move his vote later. Aside froim that, I don't see anything particularly in favor of him.
You know, it gets a bit old to have people keep talking about how "scummy" you are without ever actually giving a basis for it. That's a scum tactic there.
Okay, by this I assume you mean me and D_M. both of us have in fact provided our thoughts why you are scummily acting. Unfortunately, you happen to be a mason. Otherwise, based on your behavior, I would definately think that you were scum. You happen to be confirmed though, so I will drop this.
It's actually less suspicious to just vote and give no basis whatsoever, though apparantly people here can't handle that particular strategy and lose there minds when it happens.
wtf??????:o
yes, this makes sense:rolleyes:
if you can, please explain this. How is it not scummy to not give any reason (or very little) for a vote?
Is it believable? Yes
Is it verifiable? Not really. There is the possibility of a roleblock of his subject or even Beaker.
Does it fit the flavor? Yes, it seems to. Ford Prefect is likely to be in the game, but I guess it is useless to outguess the mod. And if no one counter-claims, then that part is believable. The ability also fits remarkably well with the character of Ford. In the book, he does have an extensive knowledge of the guide, and because the guide contains almost everything, it would make sense that familiarity with the guide could lead to new information which could help a person.
So based on flavor, it is a strong claim, especially if no one counters (which it seems is not likely to happen). The likelyness of Ford Prefect is undeniable. And also based on flavor, Ford doesn't seem like a very scummy person.
On a side note, I am not quite sure if Diggy's nameclaim makes sense considering his ability. From looking at the Wikipedia article, an enhancement ability doesn't quite make sense. It looks like the ancient mariner is sentenced to walk the earth and tell people of his tale. This doesn't necessarily give him any enhancement powers. It is possible that the flavor could tie in because in telling people about what he did, they learn from his mistakes and become better people. However, this seems a little far-fetched.
Okay, I need to clarify something. I wrote that last paragraph thinking Beaker was the ancient Mariner, but then when I realized my mistake, and realized that the mariner was Diggy, I realized that the flavor doesn't fit for him either. So I changed the last paragraph from beaker to Diggy, but I forgot to change the content of the paragraph. A double vote doesn't seem like it would com from someone teaching people about his mistakes, though. Especially one that requires stealing.
Somethings not right with you avabob, but I am too tired to put it into words. Something about changing targets from beaker to diggy. I realize the argument remains the same, but the context is important too. I don't think a townie would be so flighty. But mafia wouldn't care who his argument targeted.
That said, you're right. Unvote(I think I was still on the TWS testing busines, which I still suport of course)Fos: Diggy Perhaps your PM (don't quote!) enlightens you on the flavorful connection between vote stealing and the Ancient Mariner? Please share.

I only changed targets because I wrote the paragraph thinking Beaker was the ancient mariner. However, when I realized I was wrong, I realized the paragraph was still applicable, only to Diggy instead. So I still posted that.

A doublepost indeed, and I am sorry
But I have something to add to this safari.
As Puzzle stated and I agree
It was a T+J thing to a degree
We do not need another lynch of a townie
Detrimental or not, he's still a townie
We'd end up lynching one person just towards waste
And mafia gets a nightkill to add to the town's waste.
Two townies dead, what a terrible trade
a poor decision that would have made.
You're seemingly trying to shift the blame
rather than defend yourself with any acclaim.
For that alone, I believe you already know
A standing vote on you I bestow.
EBWOTP: Absolutionis, you are my hero for putting up with the rhyming. There is no way that I could have done that.

but if Twomz blocked him, then he wouldn't be able to use his ability until tomorrow night, or at least that's what Twomz said.

as I recall, Twomz had a 2-night delay roleblock. That would mean the abilities were blocked for two nights and then happened on the third. Because it hasn't been a full two nights, I think Puzzle will still be blocked, unfortunately. Unless Twomz didn't roleblock Puzzle, but someone else did...

Okay, by this I assume you mean me and D_M. both of us have in fact provided our thoughts why you are scummily acting. Unfortunately, you happen to be a mason. Otherwise, based on your behavior, I would definately think that you were scum. You happen to be confirmed though, so I will drop this.
wtf??????:o
yes, this makes sense:rolleyes:
if you can, please explain this. How is it not scummy to not give any reason (or very little) for a vote?

No, it doesn't. I was just pointing out the lack of flavor.

Waiting for TWS to "post up"
@cp: if the deadline comes, do we get a no-lynch? or is the highest vote-getter lynched??
