Post 119 is here and I've got nothing interesting to say, but I'll preveiw to make sure no one gets it first. Also if Az gets three votes I'm just going to decide that he's got a really weird almost unwinnable role that he's trying to make a go with.
If there was a win for getting post 120 then the entire game would be asking to be ruined, as getting post 120 wouldn't be so hard

OK, what everyone except Az should be doing right now is working out what's triggered the vote increments. This is very important. Two cases:
1) If, as we suspect, he's town - we want to increment his voting power as much as possible. This already makes it way harder for the mafia to win and things can only get better.
2) If he's not town (and I'm not thinking Mafia here really) we need to stop him getting any more votes ASAP.
Amusingly, I'm now considering Az to be more likely townie than I did on two votes. Reason is, I was quietly wondering if he might be a killer who stole his victim's vote. At least that's now ruled out.

Post 80 was the post he first used two votes and post 120 was three votes. However, it seems likely that this is a bluff to throw us off the scent, since Az didn't get post 40 and in any case started with one vote (because he votes in post 4 and it gets tallied).

Still, I suggest we try to keep him away from #160 just in case.

Ok. I bow to Hvir's psychotic role creation ability. If Az really does have 3 votes, this could get dangerous.
FOS everyone who is willing to say Az is cleared so easily Bad Townies! The only thing that makes a person cleared is claiming a standard townie role and *not* getting counter-claimed. And even THAT isn't foolproof.
It's perfectly possible that he gets another vote every 40 posts; he wasn't on for a pretty long time before we reached 40 posts. It's to be expected that he actually has a life.
As for whether he's town or not, this seems like an incredibly dangerous role. I'd be guessing that his vote power resets every day. It's a pretty ingenious way to keep days short, if so. I'm astonished that any mod would give so much power to a single player, on whatever side, though, so I don't know.
As for his posting restriction (which I have to assume he actually has, just because something has to balance a role like this), my guess is that he's required to vote for people that talk to or reference him. It's possible that that would balance his role, because he doesn't have his ability entirely under control.
If I'm right, it sounds like a kind of paranoia role. What nations (besides the dead US) could be described as particularly paranoid? Iraq?
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'

armlx> Well spotted, but in fact it does seem likely it's a coincidence.
I'll explain why: We've seen three bits of odd behaviour from Az. First, he spammed the thread in a bizarre way. Second, he actually used the multiple votes he accumulated. Thirdly, he drew attention to the fact he cared about post 120.
Now if Az really was going to gain an extra vote at 17, 27, 37 etc. he'd have godlike power pretty quickly and wouldn't bother using it where we could all see it and have this discussion.
Any theory anyone advances has to somehow explain why he's not choosing to explain all the details but is choosing to draw attention. This is why I like the theory that musashi's post was some kind of trigger for his second vote. Us talking about him seems to help him in some way.

If Azreal isn't towny, and he happens to survive to midgame, we're teh boned. 6 vote majority? 3 votes on, then BAM! dead townie. That would be way too good for the mafia to have, and i don't see a "day SKer" having an ability like that. The only way i can see it is that he's town.
Azrael, just because i'm curious... can you obtain anymore votes? If you can't say that's fine, because we're "assuming" that you "may" have to put a vote on people who talk about you, go ahead, and please just one for you can't talk about it, 2 for you can talk about it, but 3 is your max, and put all 3 on me if you can talk about it and you can get more than 3 votes.
Jesus. This is getting extremely confusing. I guess that the consensus is that Azrael is town, which seems like a pretty good assumption, because if mafia were to have the vote tripling ability, it would be completely unbalanced. I'm still reserving judgement over whether he may be SK or possibly some sort of alternate win condition role.
As for other people here, due to the immense amounts of unneccissary spamming going on, I'm having a really difficult time spotting who is and isn't town. The person who really is arousing my suspicion is actually Puzzle. Puzzle has been posting with the same erratic, unusual posting style that Az has (albeit a little more restrained), but without ANY of the proof as to why he has been acting weirdly (increased vote count, other visible signs).
Puzzle, stop being a bad townie by spamming up the thread with useless crap, it's making you look scummy. If it is some sort of posting restriction, like having to make a certain amount of posts in one day, try to add a little substance to them so that this doesn't devolve into some sort of glorified chat thread. Seeing as you are making it very hard for the town to make accurate assumptions as to who is town and who isn't, I'm going to FoS Puzzle.
Also is anyone else concerned about the amount of power that Az has been able to start seizing? I for one am getting at least a little nervous just on the off chance he may be scummy and we aren't doing anything about it????
Still, I suggest we try to keep him away from #160 just in case.

There's more to life than Mafia and SK. He could have some kind of alternate victory condition. Calling people "confirmed townie" who aren't is quite a good way to lose mafia games.

Whether Corporal Cupcake is town or not, 3 votes are enough for anyone. I don't trust him that much. He may not be mafia, but he may be alternate win condition. He may even really be an SK.
DO NOT keep saying his name.
DO NOT let him get posts with multiples of 40 (it probably is a red herring, but who knows?).
He's totally attention-seeking, and succeeding.
Ignore him for the rest of the day, and we'll see what happens hmm?
And DO NOT say his name. Would I be right to say you gain power from people saying your name, Duke Dingdong?

Well, it's quite obvious to me now. He's trying to get enough votes to end day one in no lynch, so that he can eventually just kill a person every day. Sorry man... I suggest that everyone Vote: Azrael before we get teh pwned.
Rafaelk brings up a good point. We haven't had a vote count yet since (He whose name shall not be spoken in vain) started using the third vote, although I think it's really unlikely that he's bluffing, but we still haven't seen the numbers to confirm it. As for his restriction, and the use of smileys, I think it's because smileys don't count towards whatever word limit (He) is using, and that he has a certain amount of words to reply to quotes. What's the general consensus we have here on continuing this? I'd be willing to play his game, if just to see if the ability continues.
Next time, I'm co-ordinating with someone else on that. Would it break the PM rule to PM people for the purposes of setting up simul-posts?
OK, anyway, it seems like Electric Boogaloo got a twist on my fake claim from High School, but in reverse. If the day lasts long enough for him to get enough votes, he votes no lynch and we all lose.
Unless First Mate Forehead provides a reason that he's using the power for good and not for evil, then for safety I think he should be out.
He's clearly allowed at least to some extent to make sense if he wants to, posting restriction is no excuse.
FOS: The spamming guy. You know who I mean. The one with all the votes.
In related news, Crippled Fist, That Which Squeaks, Beaker and One True Sage. Could you try to lurk less? Post Count as of 165
Ninja edit before post: Thx Sage! I understand that there is not much to talk about... and the threads only been up for a while... but 1 or 2 posts? at this point?
Okay, after reading, I just scrapped all of what I was posting. Raf, I see what you did, although it was a bit scary, so I won't carry over the FOS that my original post had.
FOS: The guy with the Aragorn avatar
I'm not sure what's going on here and I wish we could get a better grasp on it, lest you do turn out to be a SK or some alt condition and consume us one by one in a flood of votes. =/
Twomz: Just got off work. :-p I can't really help that the thread explodes while I'm out, but I do understand, and in the games I've read nothing irritates me more than people who just continue to lurk and give excuses.
This has just degenerated into chaos. The problem here is FAR TOO MANY DAY ABILITIES. Either this, or there are too many people PRETENDING to have day abilities. Let's start voting for people who are claiming to have some sort of day ability, but can't prove it. Bateleur, don't vote for Az. Vote for RafK. RafK is now claiming that he has a sort of day ability, which is weird, because I don't recall him doing this earlier.
I think he is trying to muddy the water, add to the confusion and bewilder the townies. If he does have a day ability, this does not necissarily excuse him from being mafia, and personally, I'm just goddamn pissed that this thread is just degenerating into confusion. Let's get a bandwagon going on a scummy spammer who isn't Az and just blast them out of the water. That's the only way to really understand what the hell these day abilites could possibly be, as well as eliminating the confusiong that I'm sure a few of us are experiencing.
FOUR VOTES? Hvr, whatever ability you gave Az was not very well thought out. Anyone who can get 4 votes in one day via spamming, smilies and general jackassery shouldn't have ever come to be. Gawd.
This is insane. There's no way I'm going to trust someone with a role that broken. If there were any reason to trust him, someone would have brought it up by now. And none of this, "the role is too broken for him to be anything but a townie" because it's too broken for a townie, too.
Vote Az. Here's hoping he isn't trying to get lynched.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.

Please wait for Hvir to log on and confirm his 3x and 4x are real before voting for him too much.
Also: you guys do realise that if he hadn't missed post 40 he'd probably have another vote ?!

I'll explain why: We've seen three bits of odd behaviour from Az. First, he spammed the thread in a bizarre way. Second, he actually used the multiple votes he accumulated. Thirdly, he drew attention to the fact he cared about post 120.
Now if Az really was going to gain an extra vote at
17, 27, 37 etc. he'd have godlike power pretty quickly and wouldn't bother using it where we could all see it and have this discussion.Any theory anyone advances has to somehow explain why he's not choosing to explain all the details but is choosing to draw attention. This is why I like the theory that musashi's post was some kind of trigger for his second vote. Us talking about him seems to help him in some way.

Azrael makes good pound cake.
Plus he gets every 40th post (160, 200, etc).

Thx!
Twomz's Trading thread
What's wrong with smileys?
Yep.
Unvote x3, Vote Draygn Mage x3. He's trying to appear useful by posting info that I already confirmed: I'm a SK who kills the town via votes.
See, now this /\ is an example of a good, helpful townie citizen.
Obv.
Then you're not thinking straight.
There's more to life than Mafia and SK. He could have some kind of alternate victory condition. Calling people "confirmed townie" who aren't is quite a good way to lose mafia games.
Again I say do the sums. It wouldn't be that bad at all. (There are other reasons he's very unlikely to be Mafia, fortunately.)

Like what? Voting no lynch?
Such as?
If only your mother could follow that rule.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH.
But that would be so much less fun. Why stifle the flow of information?
EDIT: WOOHOO!!!!!!!!
(Do not merg please- game related reasons! )
@Raf, now you're leeching onto the Flood Control bit from one of Az's posts? FoS: RafaelK
@Az: You're seriously claiming to be an SK? Vote: Azrael.
If you're completely confused, too, please raise your hand.
/raises hand.

One True Sage. Could you try to lurk less? Post Count as of 165Ninja edit before post: Thx Sage! I understand that there is not much to talk about... and the threads only been up for a while... but 1 or 2 posts? at this point?

I'm not sure what's going on here and I wish we could get a better grasp on it, lest you do turn out to be a SK or some alt condition and consume us one by one in a flood of votes. =/
Twomz: Just got off work. :-p I can't really help that the thread explodes while I'm out, but I do understand, and in the games I've read nothing irritates me more than people who just continue to lurk and give excuses.
Vote Az. Here's hoping he isn't trying to get lynched.

Also: you guys do realise that if he hadn't missed post 40 he'd probably have another vote ?!
