Lol. You were most adamant about attacking NavyJoe and I. In hindsight I guess the mafia would be the ones who laid low (I only suspected beaker at that point), but then they might think that we'd think that and BAH. WIFOM.
The Endgame It's not long before the group comes to a consensus. There is just too much evidence against Buddy. But this time, you decide that it's better to call the police.
They arrive on the scene, and come to the same conclusion. Furthermore, they search Buddy's house and find even more evidence, including the phone that was traced to calling Jenny the night she died. They take him in, and after questioning you are all released. It's finally over!
Some info: I'm Jackie in this. Won't tell you what it means, but it isn't mafia.
Its a mistake to spontaneously partial-claim no matter what you're claiming, but this amde it seem unlikely that he was a Vanilla townie. Also, the opening post implied that Jackie had some sort of friendship with Jenny.
Edit: Yay, I can edit now!
Edit Again: Bertrand's mistakes really helped us out. If I were town I probably still would have voted for Bertrand day 3 (if I didn't notice the strong hints towards Beaker from the night 2 kill).
It's from that funny satire book. Princess something. I read the abridged version and thought it was funny when I read WIFOM in other threads.
In the story there's one part where the protagonist and one antagonist are sitting. There's two cups of wine, one which is poisoned, so the antagonists tries to figure it out using I know that you know that I know that you know that ... you get the idea. It's basically an argument that's circular in nature and gets you nowhere in the end.
EBWOFDP: Actually both of the cups were poisoned, but the antagonist didn't know that.
The Bad 90s Teen Slasher Signature Twist Exactly one year later, Robert, who was always something of a jerk, is murdered in his home. Our protaganist, Jimmy, seeks out Sarah and confronts her. They meet at her home, and go out to the back padio.
"Look at this." He shows her the contents of a folder. Inside are pictures that someone took of David killing Jenny. Some joker seemed to have been present and thought it was an event worth remembering.
"I was visiting Brian in his dorm, and I found these. You were Jenny's friend, so I thought you had a right to see this before I take them to the police. Just so you know the truth."
"Brian, you idiot. I told you not to document the kills!"
Jimmy becomes pale from fear, as a familiar chuckle is heard coming from behind him.
ROLE CREDITS!
The Mafia (Chimpanzee, beaker, and That Which Squeaks) have won!

You can edit posts now that the game is over.
Edit: Bertrand, Beaker claimed truly (and quite dangerously). He was Brian, the Joker- Mafioso and the laughing killer in night 2.
beaker, you are Brian, the Joker, and you are one of those who killed Jenny.
You've always been a rather violent person, so when your cousin, Chimpanzee(Sarah, the *****), asked you to help her "take care" of Jenny, you were quick to bust out your old Halloween costume and switchblade and get to work. That Which Squeaks(David, the Badass) is the other croney in your little gang, and his knife is also red with Jenny's blood. With your classmates starting to ask around about Jenny's death, it seems that the only way out of this is to deal with them in a similair fasion.
Actually, godless replaced D#s before the night, and godless was roleblocked. Didn't end up mattering as he targetted bertrand. Still, gotta commend the mafia for sending a nightchoice that basically read "We'll kill the Cop and make the Doc useless."
EDIT: I'll have more to say later, after I catch up in some other games.
bertrand, you are Buddy, the Honor Student, and you are on the side of good.
After hearing about the murder of Jenny, you decided to help your friends find the killers. Your quite a book worm, but that won't really help you here.
-You win when Jenny's murderers are dead.
If anyone wanted to see it.

If you had found the Joker-Laughing connection I think that would have forced the death of Beaker. If you read the PMs you'll notice that we couldn't figure out a believable defense if that evidence were found and I'd have to sacrifice Beaker and hope that I can survive a day 5 (which would probably be a very long stand-off).
Oh, this was an enjoyable game. I was kinda of miffed at Chimp for putting the third vote on me, as I thought I might have had a chance to survive, but I do realize things worked out well afterward, so I really don't mind.
Oh, this was an enjoyable game. I was kinda of miffed at Chimp for putting the third vote on me, as I thought I might have had a chance to survive, but I do realize things worked out well afterward, so I really don't mind.
I didn't think that Bertrand actually believed you enough to vote NavyJoe or MMoD and keep his vote their as you, me, and Beaker all add our votes. In retrospect I may have been wrong, but this way seemed safer since if Bertrand did change his mind then we would have made game pretty easy for the town since the opposing sides would be all mafia against all town. I realized that the way Bertrand had divided the sides meant that if I sided with NavyJoe and MMoD, Bertrand would be an easy lynch next round.
Well done. I read some other mafia and I'm glad there was minimal lurking/no posting.
I'd like to say this: I KNEW TWS was scum. I feel good that I managed to spot one mafia succesfully. I read the night posts and it's sorta scary how many times "kill" and "MMoD" popped up in close successions.
Too bad basically all our power roles got killed in the first two days. We're lucky that NavyJoe was blocked instead of me because I probably wouldn't have supported the TWS lynch as badly.
OMFG!! QUOTING ROLE PMS!! MODKILL BEAKER AND BERTRAND!!!!!1!1
(sorry, I had to)
Actually, I was very pleased that I didn't have to modkill anyone, as it would really suck for one side or the other to lose because someone editted or quoted a role PM.
Now, as the purpose of this game is to assist in learning the basics, I will now go through each player and provide helpful hints to improve gameplay.
I've already talked to Passdog about his play mistakes. He was correct in searching out the cop, but he did it too publicly, and got the cop killed. He also should have role claimed before he was lynched. On that note, it was also a mistake of the town's to not try and get a claim from him. I've never seen a situation where it is preferable to lynch without getting a claim first.
Next is BroomHead, although there isn't much to say. The obvious is that he should have tried harder to look like he was vanilla, as it would have kept him alive. The Mafia did good in killing him, as he investigated TWS the night he was killed.
The Y's major mistake was killing off Passdog. Particularly, as a townie, he would have been better off getting a role claim first. With that mistake, he was too clear of a target for the mafia, so there wasn't much he could do afterwards. He did defend himself rather well though.
Mr Bloody Minded's biggest problem was that the player he replaced gave out too much info. There's not too much to say here, except that he managed to protect the cop the night he was killed. Although it ended up not mattering in the end.
mystery meat of doom played well also. He was successful with his first investigation, and managed to hold off the mafia win for a day. What was particularly useful for him was his low profile. While it's the mafia's job to stay under the town's radar, it's the job of the power roles to stay under the mafia's radar. MMoD did so very well.
As for bertrand, what got him killed was his backing of TWS day 3. A general rule is that when 2 people claim a role, it's usually the second that is telling the truth. That said, he did recognize that if TWS was telling the truth, a mafia MMoD could be using this to get 1 mislynch and win the game. What he failed to recognize was that if that were true, then both NavyJoe and MMoD would have to be mafia, and would have exposed themselves in a way that was not worth the risk. These types of conspiracies rarely occur.
Paranoid's only major flaw was that he was duped by them mafia, although that says more about the mafia's play style then his own. He should have followed the gender thing that showed that Chimp was scum, although he ended up coming to the right conclusion about TWS.
NavyJoe had too much faith in his plan to put one vote on a player and see if anyone else votes. It would be far to dangerous for a mafioso to put the second vote on, so it proved nothing of bertrand's alignment. If someone put on a second vote, you could conclude that they were mafia, but that's about it. Too bad no one bit, as it was a nice attempt at a cunning plan(tm). Overall good play, otherwise.
As for the Mafia, you all played great. There was a perfect blend of an active poster, a lurker, and someone in the middle. TWS was a little too forceful day 1, and it led to suspicion on the following day, and got him investigated twice. So my advice would be to calm it down a bit. beaker did a superb job of staying under the radar, but he lurked a bit much. He probably would have received even less attention if he posted a bit more. (And it always makes the mod happy to see people post. :)) Chimp did great all around, with his only real mistakes being claiming female truthfully and staying a little too close to TWS on day 1.
Overall, I was very impressed with how everyone played. Even the players that made mistakes had their moments. For instance, see Passdog's post 54:
Quote from Passdog »
@Broomhead: I think I've finally made the connection (assuming that wasn't just a blase statement [you know what I mean]).
And as I'm now 80% sure that BroomHead is innocent (assuming I'm not reading to much into it) that would make those people who rapidly jumped on his bandwagon suspicious.
My vote stands however until BroomHead confirms my suspicions.
Until then FoS: That Which Squeaks (Sorry 'bout getting your name wrong earlier) and FoS: Chimpanzee.
...or bertrand's post 210:
Quote from bertrand »
Passdog seems innocent. All he's done since page 2 is defend himself.
The Y did nothing suspicious as far as I know (if he did someone point it out?)
TWS seems to (or seemed to, anyway) really want Passdog lynched. Why? I don't know. He's been on the defensive for the past 13 pages. He then unvoted, imo, quite possibly to get rid of any future pressure he may have. I know I can't be sure, but who can be?
Vote That Which Squeaks
Okay, I think I've talked enough now. Good game all, and congradulations to the mafia! Hope to see you all again soon.
I'm the same as Mr bloody minded - I'm also at Mafiascum now. This is one fun game. Even when I was the most suspicious person on the block I was having fun.
To the mafia - Top Job!!! CC can tell you that even after I was gone (I PMed him) that my suspicions were totally off centre after I'd 'passed on'. I thought for sure hat The Y was mafia (and NavyJoe for that matter) after the voting.
@BroomHead: very sorry for getting you killed. After stupidly revealing your role I thought that if I could survive the lynch then the mafia would have considered me a liability for the town and not killed me (thereby allowing me to protect you). After my initial mistakes it was too late however. OH and anyone who ridiculed me for thinking that BroomHead was not the cop - I showed you!!!?! The reason I didn't reveal my doccyness was to try and save you on night 1.
@TWS: I wish I had gone with my gut feeling - I thought you were scum and then let you convince me i was wrong (especially when you unvoted me).
Thank you to cropcircles - great game and I'm a little disappointed that you are already out of Kirby. Hope to play again soon.
Cheers all and hope to play with you again soon (hopefully I wont screw up so badly twice).
Before I go, any other tips for my play in the future? Was i too aggressive? Too defensive? Please (anyone) a few tips.
So.... the entire town was suspicous of me, and I survived that long. Whoo! As for calming down, I really don't think I can do that. Sure I was probably a bit too agressive with Passdog, but eh, it ended up working out, and I'm going to play exactly the same way I did in this game in any other game, as I'll be very active.
On that note, juggling both a noob game and a big game are tough. Reming me to only do one game at a time from now on, or at most two small ones.
Yeah, if Passdog had claimed, than this would have been a very different game. I would have killed him at night though, as you shoot the doc before you shoot the cop.
Well after MBM was killed, then the existance of a back-up cop was 100% true, considering one of the morning scenes. I was actually counting the posts until someone got lynched so I could go investigate.
As a few of you seem to be interested in Role PMs, here they all are.
Chimpanzee, you are Sarah, the *****, and you are one of those who killed Jenny.
You never really liked the little skank, and after your boyfriend cheated on you with her last summer, you knew she had to go. It was just a matter of waiting for the right time. Being the loudmouth that you are, you can keep someone on the phone all night with your infinite knowledge of juicy gossip. If you do this, that person will be too busy talking to you to do anything else that night. beaker(Brian, the Joker) and That Which Squeaks(David, the Badass) helped you kill Jenny, so the 3 of you are in this together. You've outsmarted the police thanks to your obsession with "CSI" and "Law and Order," but your classmates are suspicious. The only way to get out of this is to rid this world of those wannabe detectives.
-You may communicate with beaker and That Which Squeaks while the game is in Night. One of you will then PM me telling me who it is you will kill during the night.
-You have an additional ability. During the night, you may roleblock a player by PMing me who you want to block. Any night actions that players attempts will fail.
-You win when the mafia exceeds or equals the town in number.
beaker, you are Brian, the Joker, and you are one of those who killed Jenny.
-You may communicate with Chimpanzee and That Which Squeaks while the game is in Night. One of you will then PM me telling me who it is you will kill during the night.
-You win when the mafia exceeds or equals the town in number
That Which Squeaks, you are David, the Badass, and you are one of those who killed Jenny.
You really only helped Chimpanzee(Sarah, the *****) with her little plot to kill Jenny because you wanted to prove yourself to be the Badass you know you are. Of course, you've bit of a little more then you can chew, and now you, Chimpanzee, and your partner in crime, beaker(Brian, the Joker) will soon be caught, if you don't deal with your classmates. So you'll put your Hockey Mask on once again, and show them all just how bad you are.
-You may communicate with Chimpanzee and beaker while the game is in Night. One of you will then PM me telling me who it is you will kill during the night.
-You win when the mafia exceeds or equals the town in number
BroomHead, you are Maria, Jenny's Best Friend, and you are on the side of good.
Jenny's death has devasted you, but you are determined to find out who killed her. The police may not be able to search all the houses of your classmates, but you have no problem breaking and entering if it means vengence. Your Dad happens to be a cop, and you've learned a lot from him. Hopefully, it will be enough to crack this case.
-During the night, send me the name of a player. You will break into that players house and be able to determine whether that player was one of those who killed Jenny.
-You win when all of the murderers are brought to justice.
Passdog, you are Tobias, the Virgin, and you are on the side of good.
It's common knowledge that Virgin's get special treament in horror flicks, and this one is no different. Well, maybe a little different. Anyone you stay with during the night will share your knack for getting out of tight situations, and will be protected from the killers for that night. However, if the baddies come for you, you'll share no such luck. It may not seem fair, but that's life.
-During the night, send me the name of a player. That player will be safe for that night. You may not target yourself.
-You win when all of the killers are dead.
mystery meat of doom, you are Thomas, Jenny's Ex, and you are on the side of good.
Although the 2 of you broke up, you were devasted by Jenny's death. You intend to find her killers, but you are reluctant to get too involved. The Police already listed you as a suspect in their investigation, so you'll have to be careful. However, if the situation becomes even more grave, you will be forced to use all of your abilities to avenge Jenny. If that means hacking computer files, so be it.
-If the Cop dies, you will gain the ability to investigate players.
-You win when all of Jenny's killers are dead.
d24478667, no no no, I mean godless_angel...or rather...wait...Mr Bloody Minded!(yeah, let's go with that one), you are Jackie, the Class Rebound, and you are on the side of good.
It seems like everyone comes to you when they want to feel safe, but you are sick of it. You've sworn off feeling sorry for people. Well, living people anyway. You are as determined as anyone to figure out who killed Jenny, but you don't intend to help any of your living classmates. However, if the situation becomes too grave, you might just change your mind and start watching over troubled people again.
-If the Doc is killed, you will gain his ability.
-You win when those who killed Jenny are brought to justice.
NavyJoe, you are Jimmy, the Quarterback, and you are on the side of good.
Being the meat-head that you are, you can kick just about anyone's ass. Unfortunately, this won't help you figure out who killed Jenny. Still, you wish to help out anyone you can.
-You win when the killers are dead.
Paranoid, you are Robert, the Jerk, and you are on the side of good.
Although you've never really been particularly fond of people, you can't ignore the injustice that has been committed. You have no special abilities, but you are determined to stop those who killed Jenny anyway.
-You win when the killers have been killed.
The Y, you are Mara, the Bi-Polar Non-Conforming Vegan Lesbian Anarchist, and you are on the side of good.
You really are quite an outcast, but you are far from heartless. You didn't know Jenny, but that doesn't matter. Those who killed her must be found and brought to justice. Brutal...bloody...violent...justice.
-You win when the killers are six feet under.
bertrand, you are Buddy, the Honor Student, and you are on the side of good.
After hearing about the murder of Jenny, you decided to help your friends find the killers. Your quite a book worm, but that won't really help you here.
if passdog had claimed, night 1 would probably have been his death, and the roleblock of broomhead
paranoid, right before TWS was lynched, you referenced the fact that Navy was probably town, cause he didnt go "yeah, town loses!"
knowing TWS was mafia, if Navy was scum, his response after the lynch of TWS wouldve been great, cause then everybody thought he was town
The whole role claim thing really had me confused - I really didn't know whether I should claim or not and chose not to. As Beaker noted though had I claimed Doc I would probably have died that night. In all honesty though you were all so determined to beleive I was scum that I'm sure people would have thought my claim was just to save my neck - I pretty well condemned myself to being lynched early (and the mafia put the nail in the coffin).
I think one thing that people should learn from this is that some tells consist of comments drawn from a persons role pm (such as with BroomHead). Many of you thought that was a lucky break but I think that we should all be open to the idea that we can learn from posts like those. Most games have a theme and if you are astute you can learn things from peoples posts and extrapolate from there.
What other stategies (beside roleclaiming) do people suggest would work to get out of a situation like that?
@Passdog, the type of situation you got into is rough. Usually, all you can really do is provide your mitivation(as you attempted to do) or claim. Normally, it's better to just avoid situations like that by not fishing for info, though.
@Everyone who has only played in this game: As a couple of you have been wondering, the other Newb sign-up is up. Go check it out!
It's not long before the group comes to a consensus.

Cropcircles, the critique of everyone was sweet
every mod should do it
I moved over too -- see ya
When is Newb #5? I can't wait!

-You win when Jenny's murderers are dead.

paranoid, right before TWS was lynched, you referenced the fact that Navy was probably town, cause he didnt go "yeah, town loses!"
knowing TWS was mafia, if Navy was scum, his response after the lynch of TWS wouldve been great, cause then everybody thought he was town
Game's over. You can edit now. -fade
@Everyone who has only played in this game: As a couple of you have been wondering, the other Newb sign-up is up. Go check it out!
