It's a little early in the game to be pushing others to vote, especially with as little evidence as you have.
Maybe, but imhungry is looking mighty suspicious, for reasons I've already stated. His bandwagon vote against batman didn't help. He had plenty opportunity/motivation to vote against batman sooner, but he waited until three others had already voted against him.
Batman is looking a little suspicious, but not as much as imhungry.

I'll admit that my main problem with imhungry is that he makes no sense. I mean really, the "T" makes all the difference?
I realize that not making sense is not a crime in itself. But I'm suspicious because:
1. The more pressure that is applied to him the less sense he makes. That makes it seem like he is scrambling for ways to explain his behavior.
2. He didn't want to be the first vote against Batman, but he was very quick to be the fourth vote.

I was the fourth vote against him because if he only had 1 vote (from me) he probably wouldn't have told me and the rest of us his idea of what I am.
btw the T makes all the difference because if you wrote your name again you would remember every letter not forgetting any... the T missing means that its not his blind account. I am very close to role claiming but will not yet as that will help out the mafia.
I am very close to role claiming but will not yet as that will help out the mafia.
What exactly would be the point of claiming on Day 1 unless you were in danger of being lynched? Which, at the current moment, you are not. That seems rather scummy to me. You seem to be very jumpy about a lot of things and are quick to vote when others are voting. I believe that you have already voted and unvoted twice, meaning that you are quick to jump to very uninformed conclusions. This will greatly hurt the town when it comes down to a lynching because you will be trying to confuse us in order to save your fellow scum. Also, you distract everyone with seemingly pointless banter about things that do not have a direct relevance to helping root out scum. Therefore, I must vote: imhungry.

Imjungry for his extremly annoying posting, his refusal of believing a mod about the lack of identity of someone, and voting someone who voted him just before. And what sticks out most to me is how he seems to be posting with more crypticness as this goes on
Batman has been rather odd with his line of thought, and esp the change of reasoning for his vote on im hungry.
Our best bets for catching scum are like in lotr mafia, bad posting; by that token Im hungry would look like the best lynch however he still could be a newbie. as an answer to that question I will say in real life, first online game but I have read all of LoTR,Dominira and the other 2 games on now (I have way too much free time) Real life games go alot faster than this ( because it ends in less than a hour after it starts... but I have played in over 600 of those games so srry for the abbrevaitions/spelling errors ealrly on.
we must proceed carefully from here - i have a nagging suspicion that batman is one of two things:
1) mafia (jumpy from morris's prod etc, pretending to be one who has info)
2) a newblet cop, who's on to something
i would assume the former
Hmmmmmmm.

I was just thinking that one of the unique things about blind mafia is that someone who is behaving erratically can claim that they were making a noob mistake.
We could potentially put a stop to this by asking players to claim upfront the approximate amount of experience they have in online mafia. The point would be that a claimed veteran could not then claim to be making a newbie mistake, and that anyone who claimed noob would have to keep up that pretense for the rest of the game.
I don't think this would give the mafia any useful information either. The claim would be very ballpark, something like 0 games, 1-3 games, 4-10 games, or 11+. Not enough to give information about anyone's identity.
I'm not saying we should necessarily do this now. I'm just throwing the idea out there for critique.

First of all, the town lost LotR Mafia. Perhaps its not a good idea to use that as a model for our actions ion this game. Secondly, you've just bandwagon'd one person, and FoS'd the other person on a bandwagon. You are hardly giving off good vibes.

i was thinking as such: his actions were so obvious, he was either the cop or mafia. either way, the mafia would know (it isn't as if i was letting out secret information).
but as i said, we should proceed carefully. it'd be irrational to assume a 50/50 chance of either, we have to let the game go on for a longer period of time before we make any postulations (to that extent).
I was just thinking that one of the unique things about blind mafia is that someone who is behaving erratically can claim that they were making a noob mistake.

FOS Wolfgang Amadeus. The last time I saw a claim plan that "wouldn't give the mafia any useful information," Puzzle cleaned the town's clock with it. Call me jumpy.
Also, I'm unhappy about HunterDuck's speculation on a cop.
And now, a list:
Thinks imhungry is town ("bad posting not enough for a vote"):
Rikos
morris
Batman (?)
NotStevie92
Thinks imhungry is mafia ("he's faking, he's scum"):
Wolfgang Amadeus
Unvote
Emerys
WellofLostGnomes
Mr. Maestro
...and then there're the lurkers.
The "Thinks imhungry is town" column is conveniently, perhaps too conveniently, rest-of-the-mafia-sized, but I'm getting a bad vibe from Wolfgang. There's also the fact that upon further consideration, I'm inclined to put myself in the top column; bad posting, though annoying, does not a mafioso make, and I'm not convinced that he's faking it. Perhaps if one of the anti-imhungry crowd could point out specific instances of grammar, perhaps a turn of phrase, that an illiterate boob would not use? As it is, I just see "OMG, he's faking," which is not really helpful.
i'm not saying anyone's town
i'm not saying anyone's mafia
i'm playing to win, but a vote is a bet
and here we're all gamblers
Ditto me. I'm never entirely sure someone is town or mafia, no matter how extreme the situation.
For the record, I voted imhungry mainly to stop his horrible facade of poor grammar, and have now unvoted, although there are still some actions on his part that are suspicious.

True Believer, do you truly believe that the mafia would be dumb enough to all jump to hungry's defense? If we find out he's mafia, then yes, all those people are suspect, but I would hope our mafia would be smarter then that.
As for Wolfy's plan, I think it would help the mafia. They could start picking off the experienced players, and then swaying the newb vote in their favor.
Hunterduck, I don't think his action's were so obvious. Until someone fully claims cop, you shouldn't accuse them of such unless you want them dead. I think a good way to "proceed carefully" would be to not out our power roles.

I think Imhungry is a townie, but with little to no experience.
Being in the 30+ game range myself, I really think we need to examine what kind of music types there are in the game, which could help lead us to the scum
the possiblilities are
Country-100% sure
Rap-75% sure
Metal/Rock-75% Sure
Music your parents would listen to- 50% sure
Classical-50% sure
Imhungry cant spell-500% sure
I must say I am adverse to claiming our experiance. This just makes it easy for the Mafia to pick off the experianced players. While it would help avoid the ranpant claims of newbness, the downside is to much.

What makes you so sure of the music types? The only evidence that we have is that the one person killed had "a beat," which could refer to any type of music. (Techno, Folk, Pop, R&B, etc.) If we could figure out the types, it would not really help us find Mafia, because it would be a biased opinion depending on each persons view of the different genres.

I'm withdrawing my plan, since most people seem adverse to it.
Here are my thoughts on imhungry:
Obviously he's either:
1. A noob townie
2. A noob scum
3. An experienced townie faking noobishness for some reason
4. An experienced scum faking noobishness for some reason
The thing is that, if he's 3 or 4, his plan is obviously not going well. I'd think that someone pretending to be new would be like "Hey, I'm new, what's going on here?" rather than making all kinds of absurd claims and justifications. I can't imagine why an experienced player (either town or scum) would deliberately try to draw this much attention to himself.
So if he is an honest newbie, then is he more likely good or scum? I think he's more likely scum because 1. He was trying to get notstevie modkilled, and 2. His quick bandwagon vote on batman.

Actually, the job of a stock broker is considerably different from the job of a townie. Bandwagoning is a good way for the town to gain information by applying pressure. It is possible that imhungry didn't vote initially because a single vote is often ignored. He also might not have even thought to vote for pressure until others did. So he may have been following the trend, but sometimes that is the right choice.
If you feel the need to continue this attack on imhungry, I suggest you bring forth a little more evidence.

If we are to believe imhungry, his inner monologue on the notstevie situation went like this:
"Looks like notstevie claimed to be stevie. I'll call him on it and say that he's fishy. I already know Vecna cleared him, but I think Vecna is lying. Vecna couldn't possibly know who notstevie really is, because Vecna is playing this game (even though he banned himself from playing through sept. 1.) In fact, I think anyone_but_me is Vecna! 10 posts later, imhungry (apparently swayed by the force of HunterDuck's logic) changes his mind and decides Batman is mafia. He thinks Batman is trying to detract suspicion from himself by claiming some secret knowledge on imhungry. Never mind that this knowledge causes batman NOT to vote for imhungry, or that Batman's claim INCREASES rather than decreases the attention on him.

Once people start alerting imhungry to the dangers of bandwagoning, imhungry decides that he didn't think Batman was mafia after all! He only voted to get Batman to reveal his hunch. The same hunch he thanked Batman for a page earlier!
The pattern I'm trying to draw here is that imhungry keeps doing scummy things, and when the town puts pressure on him he offers shifting and convoluted explanations for his behavior. I suppose these actions could all be taken by a particularly clueless newbie. But I think they are more likely the actions of a mostly-clueless mafioso.

I think the only really strong piece of evidence against imhungry is that he changed his story about why he voted for batman. In theory, we should lynch him based on the lynch all liars rule. However, I am not convinced that he is anything more then a newbie townie who slipped up. I suggest we wait and see how he responds.
@hungry: Would you like to provide us with an explanation of why you changed the reason for your vote?

It's interesting that only three of us seem to remember how to post. In the past 24 hours, we have spam from morris and HunterDuck, two lines from Mozart, and the rest is just the three of us.
TO EVERYONE THAT ISN'T MAFIA: If you do not post, then the town stagnates, we learn nothing, we miss our lynches, and the Mafia will win. Furthermore, I would hate to see this game die due to inactivity. I know there isn't much to talk about, but say something other then "owned."
"Incoherent babble" Mozart? Fine, But it's better then you've done. You've posted a random vote, and then a vote on batman with little reason. At least we're trying.

Ok, I'm done defending him if he's doing what I think he's doing. I believe that imhungry is acting as dumb as possible to protect himself. Possibly because he has a power role.
However the fact that he continues to act this way, but magicly cleaned up his posting looks more like scum. Not to mention he was more than happy to jump on my bangwagon.

Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
Don't lurkers get lynched all the time in mafia?
True, but I'm not the only one throwing votes around at this stage.
Acceptable.
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
1 - Rikos [Mozart]
1 - Batman [morris, notstevie92, Hunter Duck, imhungry]
2 - imhungry [Wolfgang Amadeus, Emerys]

10 to lynch.
I'm prodding the lurkers. chimichangaland has confirmed the read reciept on his role PM I sent him...
EDIT: Die Gluckwunchkarte said he will be without internet access in a PM to me, so his absence is expected. I'm sorry for not telling people that earlier.

so you are willing to lead an attack against imhungry, whose primary crimes include illiteracy and a childlike fascination with the irrelevant, yet you're willing to defend the dark knight?
it just seems odd to me that this early in a blind game you're already clearly playing favorites. perhaps you know more about them than i do :tongue2:
However the fact that he continues to act this way, but magicly cleaned up his posting looks more like scum. Not to mention he was more than happy to jump on my bangwagon.
Thanks bobinite of the Untitled Shop for the banner. Which, Ironicly I can't see right now.
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
btw the T makes all the difference because if you wrote your name again you would remember every letter not forgetting any... the T missing means that its not his blind account. I am very close to role claiming but will not yet as that will help out the mafia.

I dunno if we'll get much out of talking about that right now. We have no clue what the mafia might be, and we can't claim them to death very easily, so we'd probably end up just giving the mob free information.

imhungry has played "many times before"? Was this online, or in real life?
I hope this doesn't count as identity speculation. I'm not trying to figure out who he is; I'm just trying to get at the root of his strange behavior.
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
But someone posted it already not sure who though, I think wolfgang, but a nebie likely wouldn't sign up for a specialty game for his first game. Sorry for the early bought of lurking, I'll be sure to check this thread more often
as an answer to that question I will say in real life, first online game but I have read all of LoTR,Dominira and the other 2 games on now (I have way too much free time) Real life games go alot faster than this ( because it ends in less than a hour after it starts... but I have played in over 600 of those games so srry for the abbrevaitions/spelling errors ealrly on.
Hmmmmmmm.
Would you say it's an equal chance?
If he is a newblet cop, what have you done?
call me crazy:crazy:, but if I suspected a player of being a cop I would not bring it up.
My vote hasn't changed but FOS you buddy. FOS HunterDuck

@ Wolfgang: Seems like a reasonable idea, but there is no reason why someone could not just lie about that amount of games they've played in. For the record, though, I've play somewhere between 15-20 games.

and if i suspect a player as mafia, i would bring it up
i was thinking as such: his actions were so obvious, he was either the cop or mafia. either way, the mafia would know (it isn't as if i was letting out secret information).
but as i said, we should proceed carefully. it'd be irrational to assume a 50/50 chance of either, we have to let the game go on for a longer period of time before we make any postulations (to that extent).
in any case, my vote stands.
As it is, I just see "OMG, he's faking," which is not really helpful.
i'm not saying anyone's mafia
i'm playing to win, but a vote is a bet
and here we're all gamblers
Ditto me. I'm never entirely sure someone is town or mafia, no matter how extreme the situation.
For the record, I voted imhungry mainly to stop his horrible facade of poor grammar, and have now unvoted, although there are still some actions on his part that are suspicious.
Unaccustomed to such violence

True Believer, do you truly believe that the mafia would be dumb enough to all jump to hungry's defense? If we find out he's mafia, then yes, all those people are suspect, but I would hope our mafia would be smarter then that.
As for Wolfy's plan, I think it would help the mafia. They could start picking off the experienced players, and then swaying the newb vote in their favor.
Hunterduck, I don't think his action's were so obvious. Until someone fully claims cop, you shouldn't accuse them of such unless you want them dead. I think a good way to "proceed carefully" would be to not out our power roles.

Being in the 30+ game range myself, I really think we need to examine what kind of music types there are in the game, which could help lead us to the scum
the possiblilities are
Country-100% sure
Rap-75% sure
Metal/Rock-75% Sure
Music your parents would listen to- 50% sure
Classical-50% sure
Imhungry cant spell-500% sure
True Believer: It's not any particular part of his posting that feels fake, it's all of it. Every little spelling and grammatical error is very calculated .
Thanks bobinite of the Untitled Shop for the banner. Which, Ironicly I can't see right now.

Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
I already explained my vote on Batman. It wasnt a bandwagon vote but a vote to reveal what he knew about me
You say that it was a vote to have him reveal what he knew about you, yet you waited until other members voted against him to do so. You can't use the excuse that you didn't know that they voted for him because you have posts in between the votes.
In posts #126, #130, #132, #135, #137, #139, #143, and #145 you had all the time in the world to queston him about what he knew, and you could of voted for him in any one of those. Yet you waited until post number #149 to cast your vote for him, directly after HunterDuck and Notstevie92. Yet you say you wern't following the trend. You were following the the trend like an newbie stock broker.
Also, you were quick to unvote with just a little bit of pressure. That will work out poorly for the town later when we come close to lynching one of your scum and then you get a little pressure from your friends to try confusing us with more of your "logic".

True, but that doesn't mean we have to believe you. Whatever info Batman thought he had on you, it was causing him NOT to vote for you. So why would you want him to reveal this info?
Hey, so I just checked the list of MTGS registered users. Turns out there is no one by the name of chimichangaland (the closest is Chimpanzee!) Are you aware of this, Unsan?
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
@Wolfy: I have seen it happen where accounts exist but don't show up in searches. It wasn't on this forum, but I imagine it can happen here as well. I believe unsan said chimi did confirm via PM.

I'm not sure that actual music genres are going to play a part of this game, at least my role PM didn't imply this. I think the focus is more on this being a blind game. Besides what importance would the genres make?
Its possible chimichangaland hasn't yet completed the registration for his account, he would be able to send PMs, but not post. Perhaps he also wouldn't show up on searches. I think its up to the mod as to what to do here, not us. I'm sure unsan knows what's going on with chimi.

(They have the same avatar, so they must be the same person!) Wait! Egads, I just noticed that StevieT92's name has a T in it! He wouldn't get his own name wrong, so notstevie isn't stevie after all."
I do think that imhungry is a noob, but I don't think even a noob could have this many misconceptions about how things work. I think he tried to get notstevie modkilled, and then lied about what his thought process was.
I'll do an analysis of his vote on batman later.
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
Vecna also stated that pretending to be someone else was ok. So your suggesting that he was thinking "Vecna already said that NotStevie was not Stevie, and that him claiming to be Stevie was perfectly fine, so I'll point out that he's claiming to be Stevie and that will get him modkilled?"
He doesn't make sense either way you look at it, but that doesn't make him scum. Claiming that he was trying to get Stevie modkilled seems to me like you're twisting evidence.

Wrong. imhungy thought Vecna was lying. Look at posts 122 and 132. He said that he still thought notstevie was stevie, even though Vecna said he wasn't. He thought Vecna was playing in the game and therefore wouldn't know who notstevie really was.
Here is the promised analysis of imhungry's vote on Batman:
Post 139:
When Batman says he thinks he knows what imhungry is up to, and therefore DOES NOT vote against him, imhungry realizes that Batman is trying to protect him, and thanks him for it.
Post 149:
10 posts later, imhungry (apparently swayed by the force of HunterDuck's logic) changes his mind and decides Batman is mafia. He thinks Batman is trying to detract suspicion from himself by claiming some secret knowledge on imhungry. Never mind that this knowledge causes batman NOT to vote for imhungry, or that Batman's claim INCREASES rather than decreases the attention on him.
Post 165:
Once people start alerting imhungry to the dangers of bandwagoning, imhungry decides that he didn't think Batman was mafia after all! He only voted to get Batman to reveal his hunch. The same hunch he thanked Batman for a page earlier!
The pattern I'm trying to draw here is that imhungry keeps doing scummy things, and when the town puts pressure on him he offers shifting and convoluted explanations for his behavior. I suppose these actions could all be taken by a particularly clueless newbie. But I think they are more likely the actions of a mostly-clueless mafioso.
Sig by, uh, me. The Untitled shop gave me an awesome Huey banner, but it just wasn't threatening.
Even someone realitively new to Mafia games would not be as clueless as that. Imhungry has stated that he has experiance, yet he doesn't understand why people are finding his actions scummy.
@Wolfy(Jacked from Mr.D) Thanks for doing the post-by-post, it helped to show how flip-floppy(solen from the anti-John Carey campaign ran by G.W.Bush) imhungry has been througout this first day.
