This thread is wearing me down. I can't think properly anymore. Did Iammars just claim paranoid cop? And said he made a "subliminal" hint about it? Why would you subliminally hint that you were a paranoid cop? A paranoid cop is completely useless. It's worse than useless because you can cause innocent townies to get lynched.
Yeah, I'd vote for that. But I'd like to hear your "investigation" results also.

Wow. You'd never guess that there were still twelve people alive in this game, would you?
I realize that tedium is the mafia's weapon, and I may be playing right into their hands here, but I'd rather push for something to happen at this point, rather than keep things dragging.

Meh. I'd put pressure on Iammars as well, but he's getting close to the threshold and I think he's got sufficient incentive to post as it is, if he ever returns to the thread. And if he doesn't, he'll be lynched at deadline or replaced anyways.
I'm glad this game is slower than Dollar mafia... lol
Just what is a paranoid cop people? And how can it get townies lynched? Can we get a huge prod on basically every 12 people still in the game to post?
Bah, about to get caught...
paranoid cop=cop who sees everyone as mafia. If he saw someone day one and came out hoping to kill the scum and bank on doc protection. This cuold get the cop and the random townie that he inspected killed.

I said before that I've already claimed my D2 card. I'll say it explicitly again if you want me to, when it's my turn, but epeeguy dragged it out of me on like day 3.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
This is what I have for day two claims. This may not be complete, I stopped looking after a certain point. So, for example, I can't remember if Iammars ever claimed his day 2 color/rarity (or just said it was different)
1. Azrael - Duh 2. Kenji – Blue common 3. Puzzle – Lanowar Elves 4. Blinking Spirit – Red Common 5. musashi – Blue Common 6. Tyros – White Uncommon 7. AlphaInsidious – White Uncommon 8. silicon – Patagia golem 9. Iammars – Different Color (not green) 10. Urban Druid – Blue Common 11. carrion pigeons – Femeref Archers 12. Axelrod - Duh
The only possibilities for "catching" someone here are in the Blue Commons (three claimers) and White Uncommons (two claimers). The odds are slim. I suppose if we have a "card" inspector out there, he might be able to spot a false claim, but that's unlikely too.
If we're picking an order to have people go, I'd elect Kenji out of that Blue Common group, followed by Druid, then Musashi.

Ok, some information about roles that the people who had them didn't know about:
- White Paladins could be nightkilled, but not until their paladin symbol was revealed. The only time the mafia would know this is when a white paladin had their symbol revealed. This never actually happened over the course of the game.
- Kenji (Vizzerdrix), Greebo (Okk), and StevieT92 (Benethic Behemoth) were a set of three cards known as the "crap rares". The crap rares are a group of cards that are pissed off that they not only suck, but are rare as well, making the expectations for their quality so much higher than if they were common. Their anger has grown so great that they, without even knowing it, are altering everything around them with their repressed urge to change rarities.
Each day, as long as one crap rare is alive, everyone will fluctuate rarity from Rare (everyone began the game as a rare creature) to a common or uncommon, or vice-versa. In addition, each night I would roll a six-sided die for each of the crap rares. Whenever their total met or exceeded 9, I would cause them to be cardswitched.
For those who are curious what cardswitching is, I made card abilities for more than just the creatures everyone started with. So Kenji at one point switched from Vizzerdrix to Gorilla Chieftain, if memory serves.
Any crap rare who rolled two fives, a five and a six, or two sixes in a row would get a PM telling them what exactly is going on with all this switching. None of them knew in advance. This also never actually happened over the course of the game.
- If the three vigilantes all died, carrion pigeons (Elvish Archers) would gain the ability to fire a magic arrow into the air. This magic arrow would deny all paladins of their paladinhood. The identities of the paladins would not be revealed.
I was the Goblin King, and my even-days card was Goblin Spelunkers. I was immune to votes from the Elvish Champion (epeeguy) and the Lord of Atlantis (musashi), but only if they were the first or last vote on me. It's a safe guess that they have similar abilities.

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
Congratulations to the remaining members of the Town.
I will indeed confirm my "similar" ability to both the Lord of Atlantis and Goblin King, which was that I was immune to their vote if they were either the first or last to vote on me. Certainly an odd power (which I never quite gathered the full implications of until later in the game), that was the cause of my belief that they were possible Mafia characters.
Day 1 of course, I was Elvish Champion, and alternated to Wood Elves (IIRC, since I deleted the PM that contained that info).
Good job town! It turns out my suspicion of Iammars was right all along...
And in case you all are still wondering, I was indeed the cop. I've never played cop before, so I didn't really know what to do, and by the time we had the whole discussion about what the cop should do, I only had two confirmed townies alive (Puzzle and epeeguy). I almost decided to come forward, but then epeeguy withdrew from the game, meaning I would only be able to clear Puzzle. What a sucky cop I am (and I have no ida why HR did that whole piece of paper thing)
I was actually surprised that I got to see that night. I came up with that sacrifice to stop all nightkills off the top of my head and though I thought it was going to get me lynched for sure, I couldn't come up with anything better. I hate the fact that I was mafia in the first two mafia games I played online (okay I was town in Kamigawa, but I got killed the first night before I could contribute)
Wow, that's some bizarre stuff there Highroller. How were we supposed to figure that out again? Die rolling? The Crap rares had a 1/13 chance of just getting told?
I'm also curious about the night choices. How many times did people try to kill me anyway?
All in all it was enjoyable. Spent far too much of my life thinking about it that's for sure. I guess I'm satisfied with how I played. With the exception of SorryGuy, who pretty much had me fooled, I was fairly accurate. Of course, I really thought Puzzle was mafia for a while--man, you just lost it for a while there. You did pull it together at the end, however, with some very good calls.
There were an unfortunate number of non-participants, resulting in perhaps the highest number of Mod-Kills I have ever seen in a game.
Lesson: 29 people is too many?
Edit: forgot to give props to Draygn_mage also. I thought he did a good job as a mafia too.
Double Edit (look I can edit!): I don't mean to insult any of the other mafia either.
Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
What, you mean I actually had an interesting ability, and I didn't even know it? One of these days I'm going to get to play a role other than basic townie, you just wait.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.

I was Elite Archers day 1 and Crossbow Infantry day 2 and was the other vigilante. Good work guys. Highroller what happened with the whole PMing saga care to tell us or not.
I was vanill a mafia. I was Nightmare on night 1 and Grave Digger on night 2. Interestingly enough, I had no powers. I know that Vecna was my leader and the reason for the abnormally low kills was that we could either kill someone, or we could know the name of one card that was *not* seen on the battlefield that day. We got Wall of Wonder with this. Thanks for the props guys. I had Sorry Guy nailed from his first claim, but I never thought Vecna would screw us over like that!

Oh, by the way, as you probably noticed, when the Archivist (inspector) was nightkilled, he would tell the town which mafia belonged to which group. That's something fadeblue didn't know about.
What the crap happened...
... With the PMing?
There were two mafia groups. Western and Eastern. I accidentally mixed them up in some of the mafia role PMs. So the Paladins knew which mafia they were supposed to get, but none of the other mafia got the right information. The mafia groups were NOT allied, so this defeats the purpose of the whole game.
... With Vecna?
Vecna violated a rule which I didn't apparently make clear enough. When I say, no PMing anyone, I mean ANYONE. This is because replacements become almost impossible when everyone outside the game knows the identities of someone inside.
Azrael knew Vecna was mafia. Vecna had issues with this, and eventually dropped out.
... That whole lockdown situation?
There was a situation in which Puzzle, at one point, was one vote away from being lynched. Now, I got confused and thought Puzzle was a paladin, because when I was first drafting this game Puzzle was going to be one of the mafia paladins, so I typed a post that said that Puzzle's paladin symbol went off.
By the time I realized my mistake, Puzzle had read the post, so to cover I said something along the lines of, "No, you weren't a paladin, I just wanted to see how you'd react."
Now, I typed this before editting thinking that only Puzzle was online. I obviously should have hit refresh because more people were reading the page than just Puzzle. Now, most of them were cool with it, but one got very offended and left the game. He complained to Vecna, Vecna set up a lockdown until he found out just what exactly was going on. In the meantime we had deleted almost every post regarding the situation to avoid confusing the hell out of everyone. Eventually Vecna got the story on what happened and why everything was editted/deleted and the game resumed.
I think that answers everything.
Obviously I would have done a bunch of things differently. I would not have let Vecna or billking in the game and I will definitely never do so again. billking actually broke an important rule and I'm still pissed.
The game should have been around 26-28 people. 30 just was too much. Honestly, I also thought the mafia would have cooperated more, but communication just broke down immediately. I'm curious what happened from the mafia's point of view.

GG, everyone.
So what was going on with the whole two mafias but only one or less kills per night (usually) thing? Incredibly bad luck, or what?
Yeah, that's one of the things I was wondering too.

You weren't. It was supposed to confuse the hell out of you.
It was also supposed to draw attention away from the fact that all of the mafia were black.
Now, most of them were cool with it, but one got very offended and left the game. He complained to Vecna, Vecna set up a lockdown until he found out just what exactly was going on.
The only reason I got offended was due to the entire "Haha, I was just pulling your chain. ;)" as if it were some kind of joke you were attempting to pull. Given how tough this game was, as well as how irritating that was to see from someone in the game who was hoping to see the game through to the end... Suffice it to say, it wasn't just a "little thing".
If you'd said "Oh crap, sorry, that was a note from when I was setting things up, sorry for the misunderstanding" which you never said (even when you PM'ed me about things), I would have never had an issue with it. My problem wasn't with what happened, it was how you handled it. I certainly didn't ask them to end the game, or even suspend it, I simply asked that they talk to you about the inappropriateness of what you did to ensure that it never happens again.

Sorry, but I didn't think appending a "Sorry, I just screwed up really badly" was going to be much of an improvement considering how many times I had already screwed up over the course of this game. This whole game was like one of those video shows where they show trains crashing, and I didn't think one more instance of Highroller admitting incompetence was beneficial. I obviously was wrong and I apologize.
From Vecna's mafia's point of view, we agreed with the other side (via our go-between) armlx, that we would offer to kill one of 2 people for them. whoever they chose for us *not* to kill we would figure was important for them and wait to kill them till the time was right. Then Vecna went nutso, then I went down in flames due to poor note-taking on my part. (Try keeping track of what you REALLY KNOW and what everyone thinks in 2 spreadsheets and try not to confuse them.) I nearly posted the list of our entire mafia at one point. *sigh* It was fun though.
POST EDITTED TO LEAVE ONLY THE FOLLOWING: dont check for invisi... please?
Still shouldnt have let Azrael back in the game after his numerous offenses. None of what I did post-return would have happened, and there would still be myself, and probably dragyn alive.
Yay! I come back form holiday to see me survive and win my first proper game of mafia... yay!
* Kenji does the happy dance[/b]
A few things, was there any pattern to my switching? And why was I the only one that you pointed out was switching?
I was, for the record, Vizzerdrix, Vigilant Drake, Ancient Silverback (where I gained the ability to take down whoever tried to night kill me) and Gorilla Chieftain.
As I said, you would switch when the accumulated total of my die rolls got to 9. You're the only one who stayed alive and rolled high enough.
Props:
- To town. Good game.
- Highroller for making me have no clue what was going on, even after the game was over.
Slops:
- The people who got mod killed. Big frown.
- Mafias for failing to send in night kills (I think, may have just been Paladined).
Mops (basically me complaining about stupid stuff)-
- Vecna leaving after shooting me down. If you have a good reason I understand, and I also understand that people communicated outside the game, but that still pissed me off a little.
- Highroller for clearly defining the good and the bad by colors. Just a general problem in a lot of games I see. Even with a large claim pool, problems occur. I respect your experience, but I just haven't seen a game where good/evil were in an obvious split and the town has lost.

To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
What happened on our part? We screwed up royally. We missed a lot of Night kills due to...well...not PMing them in. We also roleclaimed horribly, letting the other Mafia know who we were right off the bat.
Ironically, I knew Vecna was Mafia because of his Day 1 uncommon claim, and the fact that he only outted armlx after Pibbly died (BTW, how did you know Pibbly was the other messenger?), and I knew he was Paladin because he hinted at being able to deal with Night Kills. If he hadn't dropped, I would have claimed an inspectorish role the next day :p.
Anyway, 'Roller, I'm surprised at you, making it so easy for people to spot the Mafia. None of your other Dominaria games were limited to Rare only.
EDIT: BTW, first night we used an ability that let us see which card wasn't a role. We got Beast of Burden. Night two we were planning to kill Fadeblue, except at the last minute (without telling us), armlx decided to switch to Axelrod. Whoopee. Then we missed the next kill.
It was amusing that our antics made everyone so suspicious of anyone talking about 2 groups.
I was in direct contact with Pibbly. I assume he did the same thing as I did: say we knew one member of the other mafia, but not that it was the messenger.

Only after billk was kicked and Pibbs put in did my mafia find that we werent supposed to know this. My guess is highroller forgot to make it obvious to billk, even though it apparently was in large text when pibbs got it.
So yeah, we knew who you were, and you killed my envoy, so I killed you. Not like I'm going to pretend that info I have doesnt exist. (Which is why people should not eb allowed to replace in games they have already been in)

Mafia MVP BM Mafia
Mafia MVP Matrix Mafia
It was a fun game, my first mafia, but I think I will be playing alot now.
I knew you were mafia
Mahamoti Djinn, then Air Elemental...
OMFG linkage
Yeah, that's one of the things I was wondering too.
You weren't. It was supposed to confuse the hell out of you.
It was also supposed to draw attention away from the fact that all of the mafia were black.
Still shouldnt have let Azrael back in the game after his numerous offenses. None of what I did post-return would have happened, and there would still be myself, and probably dragyn alive.

There was a role that had the power to deny someone their vote. Thus, "tapping".
Are you going to tell us who had that roll? Are we going to get the complete game notes?
As I said, you would switch when the accumulated total of my die rolls got to 9. You're the only one who stayed alive and rolled high enough.
- To town.
I was even going to put that in a post.
