I'm trying to figure out where all this talk of a "database" came from. Was it this post?

Yes, the weapons systems on this Ship include 4 Outer-shell turrets capable of rendering outside force incapacitated. The inside weapon systems include Machine turrets set around the docking bays and exits of the ship, All non-ship personel will be shot on sight. All of the crew have been pre-loaded into the database to be "friendly."
From what I gather most of teh power and arming systems have been de-activated by the Cylon Jon, for an invasion action most likely...
Druid, did this come from your role PM? I get the sense that you are, shall we say, embellishing things a little at times. Which, while fine from a role-playing standpoint, can create confusion among the rest of us. We don't need to be wasting time on this stuff if it's not pertinent. So, please level with us here.
Similarly, if anyone else has relevent information about the "database" that they wish to share (without exposing anything vital) now would seem to be the time to do it.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
You all gather 'round a computer terminal and Crippled_Fist accesses the ship's database. Everything looks normal. You've got enough ammo to last several major attacks, and enough food, water, oxygen, and fuel to last a few years.
Upon checking PFC Jon's personell file, you get his military history. Unfortunately, nothing stands out as being unusual. Pretty standard stuff.
Hmmm.. I don't know about that. Are there other Cylon ships? Maybe we don't want to risk putting our fleet at risk to other involvement from possible dangers.

I'm merely expressed that there were both internal and external weapons systems of which specifics are not important.
Look, Navy, I presume we've lost contact with our home base and thusly can't communicate with them due to they Cylon invasion... Giving out our location on undisclosed frequencies could lead to our untimely demise.
Seriously, Druid and Navy, is there some connection with you two or what? Navy has backed Druid, who first tells us he has some reasons to suspect Fade and then says it's just a hunch, up. I personally can't say anything about Fade, he might be as well Cylon, but I can't see anything scummy with him right now. The only ones raising my suspicions right now are Druid and Navy.
No, I've no relation to him that I know of... unless he's gay... :link4: Just kidding...
No, I have no role specific connection with him... but I do have a role specific relationship with a member whom has spoken of voting against me, or already has.

Wow, this game is going fast. Well, in terms of posts. In terms of actually advancement...well...
Okay, here's the way I see things:
1) Why is rearming guns important? What makes everyone assume that the Cylons have 500 heavily armed ships floating around outside ready to blast us into oblivion? I doubt this game is going to come down to "Guns = Win, No Guns = Lose".
2) Am I missing something here? What's with all the technical talk, and about "Changing access codes". This is a game of Mafia, remember. If someone has the ability to hack into the systems and do stuff, I doubt that any random action that you decide to do will change that. Unless you're a roleblocker.

Anyway, i dont think we should pay too much attention to this Action thing. It is obviously not going to be a major part of the game. We need to find out more information and this Action thing is not the way.

Your neck is now on the line, as far as I'm concerned. You can't act shady all the time and expect us to simply overlook it, so it shouldn't be a surprise that you're the center of a lot of negative attention right now.
Reveal your relationship with Navy to my personal satisfaction (or clear yourself in some other way), or else I believe I may be joining a certain bandwagon next time I check this thread.
Spock is not portrayed correctly. If Vulcans are above petty emotions, what motivates him to join the most elite starship crew in the galaxy? I, on the other hand, have transcended the weakness of emotion and achieved a blissful lack of caring. Apathy is my strength, our strength, which prevents us from being all-to-human. In this spirit, may Meh be with you, always.
I guess from now on, if you guys want to, you can use actions. Each player may use one action per day, by simply typing action: whatever it is you want to do in a post. These actions must be something fairly simple and can't directly affect another player. For example, you can type action: fix the ship's weapons to fix the ship's weapons, but you can't type action: kick fadeblue in the knee for never having watched Battlestar Galactica to kick fadeblue for never having watched the greatest television show ever. :b
Read the first line, he says "I guess....., if you guys want to..." That to me tells me that he wasnt planning on this kind of stuff happening. I highly dout that he will reveal any information in something that he was not planning on. Our greatest source of information is ourselves, we just have to know how to read/find it.

This is not what was shady about his post.
Let me see if I can describe for you exactly what was shady about his post... First, he mocks anyone those of us who are playing (or trying to play) conservatively, then he, by implication, encourages us to "put our necks on the line." Does this mean he's a Cylon? I can't say. But it is shady, that's for damn sure.
When I read his post I was a little pissed off about the hypocrisy. I felt that Urban hadn't actually revealed that much at all, and that he was being a little over-the-top in acting like he'd made such an aggressive play. Considering that, in my past, have been about as aggressive as they get, this feeling was probably to be expected. It's a shame I didn't control it better. So I guess you're right, Axelrod. That is the sort of thing that gets me targeted.
But I'd like to remind you that my over-the-top emotions don't mean I don't have a good point buried underneath. My brain wasn't turned off there; I just failed to express myself properly.
Asking him to reveal his relationship wasn't good advice. I put an ultimatum up to him because, in my shortsightedness, I saw this as being between me and him. It's not. To tell the truth, what he does at this point doesn't matter as far as my point is concerned.
What matters is what sort of play he's encouraging from the town as a whole, whether that advice would have a positive or negative effect on the outcome, and, most importantly, whether this signifies a particular intent.
Let's look at the post again:

He and I are old friends, specifics not given... My guess: we were in Training together or something of that nature.
You want what I know: I'm a weapons(my domain) specialist onboard the Salvation, My oldfriend is Navyjoe, so I clearly know his faction, as he know's mine.
Thats it. yup... My ability is even more vague so... basicly I'm shooting in the dark with whatever I do.
And by puting my neck on the line... I meant then I was posting out of total disregard for my lack of infortmation.
Actualy In re-reading my role: I've been friends with joe for a while but I don't think that how long will help my situation so, we'll leave it at that.
and I agree that it may help... this DNA thing.
But i'll keep my action unused for now.
Problem with that, is if Cylons have a different DNA structure then humans, then the following will happen:
1. Upon evaluation of crewmembers' DNA, the results show that [instert names here] have a strange DNA.
2. Cylons will be scared to give DNA cause of this, therefore reject the idea and give themselves away.
3. The game will end on Day 1.
If we did 1 DNA Sample a night. I suggest we do it random. By rolling a 20 sided dice. Highest number lowest number gets scanned. If someone doesn't roll, then they "volunteer" for a scan.
This concerns me. If the "Medical Analyst" is the only person to see DNA results and doesn't want to share, because "worried about Cyclon's lynching him".
What if the "Medical Analyst" is scum. Now he has access to lead us all into thinking that person x (a human) is scum.
I think we should only do this is if everyone sees it at the same time, so everyone knows what's going on.
Joe, dont worry about the Medical Analyst being Cylon. If s/he points the finger at a Human and we kill them, then we can just turn around and lynch them. A 1 for 1 trade. That is not good for them, and good for us.

Puzzle: I have already said everything there is to say about my situation. I won't repeat it again except to clarify (as I mentioned before) that I don't know for a fact that anyone else has infomation about it. That is just what I believe.
If there is someone else, then they are choosing to keep quiet at this time. Why? I don't know, but I am willing to accept that they have their reasons for doing so. Sometime it is better to keep certain information under wraps. Just depends on the nature of the information (and possibly how it was obtained.)
If this has the effect of making me look more suspicious, I'll accept that too, but them's the cards I was dealt.
I will vote for your DNA proposal, however. Might be beneficial and I don't really see how it could hurt.

I doubt the DNA would reveal much... Jon would not give a member the ability to see who is who this early. This train of thinking will most likely reveal that there were several inconsistancies with the analysis and thus all data will be incorrect.
Where did the idea of DNA come from anyway? I saw someone say something about it a few pages ago. but It just popped up from nowhere...
UNVOTE: fadeblue My suspicions have been at least put to ease... for now.
The last thing I want is a manufactured clone of me wandering about the spaceship, committing all sorts of heinous acts. Thus, I'm inclined to oppose this DNA-sampling plan.
Also, I think it's pretty obvious that this game would be bah-ro-ken if something like this could identify all the Cylons this early in the game. Let's not be too gullible here.
Also, the person who proposed the sampling is somewhat suspicious. *points finger at Puzzle*

Broken? I'm not so sure. This would basically turn the analysts into cops (assuming they can only check one sample a night. Otherwise, yes, this game would be ridiculous), an there's nothing particularly broken about that. *points finger at Billking for paranoia*
Oh, and I'm for the proposition.

Billking : have you read my post #229 ?
You are afraid that in one night, the cylons will create a clone of you, but you say that in one night, we cannot analyse any sample ?
I'm saying I don't like giving away my credit card numbers, and I don't like giving away my genetic sequences either. I view it as leaving a potential for identity theft, especially considering the Cylons have already demonstrated profeciency when it comes to creating human-like appearances. Maybe it's not a clone so much as using my face as a mask. Whichever.
In any case, that's only seven. I think you need a majority (of eight) to get your proposition passed. If you want to vote for the proposition, by all means, do so.

About the DNA testing: none of you know if anyone here's qualified to properly perform DNA testing. And even if somebody is, you don't know if the ship even has the proper equipment to do such a thing.

I agree with Bill, as I've said earlier its just too much of a siver bullet to be true... if we can scan the DNA samples it will surely end in finger pointing and the game will end in a few days.
I retract my support until further information is provided... And I still don't know where the who DNA testing idea came from...
I hate to say I told you so, but I did. The day Actions are flavorful, yes, but in essence they don't do anything. There was a Mafia game on News that actually had the actions implemented from the beginning, and they never did anything to make or break the game (well, except splitting everyone on to two boats, but that's another story).
This is going to have to be done the old fashioned way.
Today on Battlestar: We find out DNA testing is not possible during the day. Well, that was a big fuss over nothing. Back to the drawing board.
In other news, Urban Druid makes yet another post I don't like. I mean, I'm certainly not voting yet. No hurry here... so, please, stop acting like you're in one.

Where did the idea of DNA come from anyway? I saw someone say something about it a few pages ago. but It just popped up from nowhere...
UNVOTE: fadeblue My suspicions have been at least put to ease... for now.
Also, I think it's pretty obvious that this game would be bah-ro-ken if something like this could identify all the Cylons this early in the game. Let's not be too gullible here.
Also, the person who proposed the sampling is somewhat suspicious. *points finger at Puzzle*
Oh, and I'm for the proposition.
In any case, that's only seven. I think you need a majority (of eight) to get your proposition passed. If you want to vote for the proposition, by all means, do so.
But don't say I didn't warn ya.

I retract my support until further information is provided... And I still don't know where the who DNA testing idea came from...
This is going to have to be done the old fashioned way.
As for the actions, I don't know... it could lead to the reavealing of one or two faction standings within the group.

Oh well... we'll see whats goin down once everyone gets here and votes...
In other news, Urban Druid makes yet another post I don't like. I mean, I'm certainly not voting yet. No hurry here... so, please, stop acting like you're in one.
By the way, very funny picture Jon.
