y do u think im scummy.....well, i was trying to be subtle, but i am going to come out and roleclaim...I have an investigative ability, as i am the blademaster,
Pibbly is obviusly lying...
i was trying to say if i roleclaimed that i would get lynched, and if we trade the investigator(me) for a scum(pibbly), that would be bad
if u lynch me and the undead kill our last doctor tonite, as he has already roleclaimed(sry i forget who it was, i am very busy and i dont have time to go back and check), and u guys will kill me, which will leave one cop role behind, and some other random heroes
all that leaves is probly one other cop role
You're full of ****. All we asked is that is that you race claim, or at the very least good/neutral. What do you do? Go completely off the handle, role-claiming WITH YOUR ABILITY, which we didn't even ask for, before you have a single vote or FOS.
So, Mr. Liar, who did you investigate, and what were they?
Just in case in the off chance that stevie is telling the truth it would be better for us all if he only says the race of the person he investigated... y'know just incase
Wow, nice try there Steve, but i truely hope this doesnt work. For the town's sake. What proof do you have? Tell us who you investigated last night. What was their ability?

Thanks to Legacy15 and Butteblues18 for the Sig and Avatar!
This game seems unfairly slanted in favour of the town because everyone is treating it like they would a regular game of Mafia, where the roles are unknown and the potential abilities are unlimited.
The inspiration for this game came from X-Men Mafia over at MTGNews, where roles were likewise limited. If I roleclaimed someone like Nightcrawler, it would be unlikely that I possessed a nightkill ability.
Here's something to think about. There are 4 Heroes for each race, and an additional 7 Neutral Heroes. As you have all figured out by now, 12 of the racial Heroes are Living, while the 4 Undead Heroes are... well, Undead. That leaves 4. This means that 3 of the Neutral Heroes are unused in this game. Some of you have deduced that 2 of them must be Undead, since 5 is the 'correct' number of Mafia, and there is a serial killer running loose.
That leaves the Beastmaster, Naga Seawitch, Pandaren Brewmaster, Goblin Tinker, Goblin Alchemist and Firelord. Since there are only 2 slots left, that means that 4 of these Heroes are not even in the game, ample empty slots for the Undead to claim. So the best move at that point would be to roleclaim a Neutral Hero, right?
Instead, what happened? Mafia members claimed to be Good, KNOWING that the real Good heroes would root them out immediately. The Far Seer died on the first day; the only remaining inspector has no means to identify names.
5 Mafia, 7 possible roles to claim. The MOST that the Mafia would lose would be two Mafia members who mistakenly chose identities already held by existing players, and even then, it would take a lynch or two to figure out who was telling the truth.
Dreadlord, did you consider the possibility that Sleep could be used in a positive method by targeting a fellow Undead? Having an excuse not to speak on the first day is invaluable. Furthermore, you can make use of those players who know about the Warcraft world by saying that X couldn't possibly be Undead because he was targeted by an ability that is blatantly Undead. What was the point of preventing a random player from posting or voting? Afraid of an Inspector? That's what the Undead kill is for.
Lich, the same applies to you. You remove the pressure to vote from a fellow Undead, or even yourself. Need a random roleclaim? How about the Naga Seawitch, with her Frost Arrows? Is she in the game? That's a risk you have to take.
Undead, you complain that the Town had a huge advantage - did you use your extra Nightkill?
Azrael, you were targeted by BOTH Inspectors on the first night, PLUS an Undead ability AND there was talk of you being eliminated by the Undead. This was not the result of imbalance, but rather your high-profile victory in Mafia Mafia. Had I made only a single Inspector role, and he had been killed on the first night, wouldn't it be the town crying foul?
Priestess of the Moon, you had information that the town would have found useful - did you release it to them? Afraid of being killed? The Inspector already revealed himself - why would you be the number one target?
Undead, two inspectors, so why not two doctors? How about rolecaiming the Goblin Alchemist with his Healing Mist? Again, an Alchemist might be in the game, but that's a risk that has to be taken.
Did you even BOTHER to check the link I provided? Or was everyone content to depend on some of the more well-versed players for information on the game?

Oh, that was fine, I wasn't upset about my own predicament.
The problem was that all the mafia were going to be outed in short order, whether they picked neutral OR good (the neutral-claiming mafia would be culled away pretty fast, and then conflicting good claims would be worked out). I was going to be going down no matter what, due to Pibbly's investigation. But in the case of the mafia, the town could eventually reduce it down to a 50/50 perecent chance of lynching scum each time, and with me gone, there was no way they could race the town trading one mafia for one townie, even if the town lynched in the wrong order the entire time and the doctor never sucessfully protected.
Having a neutral SK, and randomly selecting him was fine and works well within the game. Besides, I had always wanted to try out playing SK. The timing of it was ironic, but whatever, that was ok with me.
Screwing over the mafia that badly really hurt the game, though. I've yet to be in a game where they actually won, and this time there was just no hope for them. I'm glad we'll have the chance to restart and fix it, the twist definitely shows promise. I'll be looking forward to the second try.

Heh. I was able to figure out everyone except you and crippled fist. The other three's objections to the role-claims made things real easy. The town had nothing to lose, and everything to gain from them.
Pibbly already posted my role information (good job nuking me, btw). So yeah. I'm in for the next one. Whoever gets doc, I wouldn't mind a little protection night one, just in case...
(I seem to be a lightning rod for everyone's abilities)
Well billking was not opposed to role claiming, he and puzzle had an opposition thing going. But it seemed forced and artificial, good plan ,poorly implimented
Too bad. I was kinda hoping my ability would come into play.
carrion pigeons, you are the Tauren Chieftain, an elder Tauren warrior, who upholds the honour and simplicity of Tauren culture.
Ability: Reincarnation
This ability is passive. If you are killed at any time other than during a lynch, you will be automatically restored to life. If you are killed again after that, however, you will remain dead, unless a cooldown period has taken effect, in which case Reincarnation will kick in again.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
armlx, you are the Firelord, a powerful elemental with hatred for all organic life. This hatred however, has been stilled by a greater threat - that of the Undead.
Ability: Soul Burn
The target of Soul Burn will be unable to use any of his or her powers until the next cooldown period.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the Undead
My plan to let Azrael talk was to RB him then see if there was 1 fewer death, but it made no difference.
Crippled_Fist was obviously scum as he lurked. Stevie was stupid, and Puzzle was obvious too. Aurorasparrow and Billking were good though.

For anyone who reads this and happens to abort a game: See my post in the signups.
You guys can go ahead with the UN thing though.
NOTE to all future mods: Just because there is a way for most of the mafia to appear town (neutral heros and such), you can assume that they will ignore it. Just because you linked to a page and based the game on a popular RTS does not mean that people will see your idea and use it.
I read through the post abandonment (and requests for it) posts, and I can safely say that expecting the mafia to know enough to claim neutrals is a bad idea. Also, if the total number of available neutrals happens to be less than the entire mafia size, all of those in excess of neutral claims should be considered half members of the mafia, as they are severly limited and prevented from fabricating a plausible claim.

That's too bad. I think the set up was really cool. There just needed to be more safe claims for the Undead. Relagating them to the Neutral Heros wouldn't have been enough. What would have worked was if we weren't all "Heros." Each race has "Units" and "Summonables." If we could have been a "Druid of the Talon" or a "Dryad" for example (Night Elf Units) or "Witch Doctor" or "Wind Rider" (Orc Units) in addition to Heros, there would have been more than enough potential claims to allow the Undead to hide.
Having us all be Heros was great from a flavor standpoint, but bad for gameplay purposes.
Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
NOTE to all future mods: Just because there is a way for most of the mafia to appear town (neutral heros and such), you can assume that they will ignore it. Just because you linked to a page and based the game on a popular RTS does not mean that people will see your idea and use it.

All or most of the mafia claiming neutral would have been suicide. The town would have known that the mafia was concentrated among the neutrals once the good quota had been met or slightly exceeded, and would have lynched them off one after another. The best shot they would have had was to all claim they were one of the 12, and made themselves indistinguishable from the rest of the town once again, temporarily.
But even that wouldn't have worked in the end, since there was a set number of players from each race and each of those slots was accounted for with a single correct name. Once the town forced individual name and race claims, it'd be all over for them in short order. Any way you look at it, the mafia would have been pinpointed and lynched away effortlessly.
not really, you were only going to be lynched due to everyone being worried about you and watching you like a hawk. That is the least noobish thing possible!

Don't worry, Azrael, no hard feelings. Just wondering why you picked me, of all people.
And yeah, your performance in Mafia Mafia has really made you a prime target here now. It's funny that both Pibbly and I inspected you the first night. Even though we knew each other's rolename and race, we didn't know each other's abilities (at least I didn't). And even if we did know, we weren't allowed to PM each other, so there was no way to coordinate our inspections. But I figured it would be good to know from the start which side you were on - if you were evil, then you needed to be eliminated right away, and if you were good, you would have someone to back you. Oh well.
StevieT92, you are the Death Knight, a fallen Paladin who gave it to the Lich King's seductive promise of power, and now wander as one of the Undead.

Ability: Death Coil
Choose a player, who will be killed if he/she is one of the Living. This kill is in addition to the Undead's regular kill.
Victory Condition: Equal the Living in number.

The game was aborted as the town started with a list of all possible characters due to the topic and all the mafia were one faction of those characters (Undead). There were only 2-3 untaken slots among the choices, so a mass role claim basically revealed all the mafia. Its not the fault of the mod, it's just the topic. In WC3 theres only 22 heros, and with 14 townies and the mafia role names being known at the start the townies could end day one with knowledge of who is half of the mafia without investigations.
Summary: Game was too pro-town to be worth playing.

Glad to see the game is cancelled. I sent a PM to Medivh about it which emulated Azrael's feelings. I think it was almost totally unwinnable.
As an Undead member, I have to say the position was frustrating. Saying it was a misplay to go against the mass roleclaim sounds easy now, but you need to remember how devastating it would have been at the time. Everything seems obvious when you have the power of hindsight. There were practically no outs, because opposing the roleclaim directly would immediately get you FOS'd (and rightly so) while letting it happen would also lead to a rapid demise. Thus, I was going for "slow it down" rather than stop it, because that way I had the most reasonable chance of being able to lurk and collect information on roles before putting forth my own (fake) claim. It was a long shot, but it was a strategy, so I made up an excuse to lurk for a few days, cleared my cookies, and lurked as a guest for a bit.
And I honestly was pissed off at Puzzle. It was frustrating that in a game were everything is already going wrong, one of your key teammates is doing everything he can to make it worse. There wasn't anything fake about it, Evil H; frankly, I should have restrained myself far less, even if it risked a flame warning, if only to vent the anger I felt. He was being a dumbass, plain and simple. I frankly wished he would die, and that I would be the one leading the crusade. As soon as I "got back" that was exactly what I was going to do; if no one had voted yet, I would have started it off with Puzzle, skipping right past the FOS foreplay. That was the other prong of my strategy... getting a Mafia lynched is good for your reputation, and that might help me from getting called early on the fake roleclaim. (It would probably still happen eventually, but I was powerless against that.)
Future mods: Learn from this game. Don't make this mistake.
Spock is not portrayed correctly. If Vulcans are above petty emotions, what motivates him to join the most elite starship crew in the galaxy? In this spirit, may Meh be with you, always.
I was Priestess of the Moon. I had a list of everyone who had made a night action via my Owl Scout. LjJustus was the Keeper of the Grove, we knew each other's identities.
I kept the information because I didn't want to make myself an undead target. In retrospect, I should have just released the info, since it probably would have been the same every night.

The suicide thing: Exactly my point, the mafia truly could not have counted any excess claimers as true members, as the town could easily take them down.

Gaymers
carrion pigeons, you are the Tauren Chieftain, an elder Tauren warrior, who upholds the honour and simplicity of Tauren culture.
Ability: Reincarnation
This ability is passive. If you are killed at any time other than during a lynch, you will be automatically restored to life. If you are killed again after that, however, you will remain dead, unless a cooldown period has taken effect, in which case Reincarnation will kick in again.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the Undead.
Mafia MVP BM Mafia
Mafia MVP Matrix Mafia
Ability: Soul Burn
The target of Soul Burn will be unable to use any of his or her powers until the next cooldown period.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the Undead
My plan to let Azrael talk was to RB him then see if there was 1 fewer death, but it made no difference.
Crippled_Fist was obviously scum as he lurked. Stevie was stupid, and Puzzle was obvious too. Aurorasparrow and Billking were good though.
Game is officially over
*ahem*

Ability: Spirit Hawk
If you choose to summon your Hawk, it will alert you to the movement of other players at night. A player is considered to be moving if he or she uses a special ability or performs a kill. You will receive a PM with a list of all players who moved that night.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the Undead
Bleh, before i get on the computer the game falls in to a horrible crumble, however I will play in the next mafia
Ability: Tranquility
If you choose to use Tranquility, night will end immediately. Tranquility is not subject to cooldown; rather, you can only use it ONCE in the entire game. Choose wisely.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the Undead.
I'm up for another round, however.
Edit: Did you kill FadeBlue? I assume you did
I was going to be lynched day one, does that count?
EDIT: Yep, that was me. (no hard feelings i hope, fadeblue)
Oh well.
You know the identities of the other Undead players.
They are:
Puzzle, the Dreadlord
billking, the Crypt Lord
aurorasparrow, the Lich
Crippled Fist, the Pit Lord
Each night, the Undead convene and choose a player to eliminate. If you are not chosen to perform the kill, you are able to use your special ability.
Ability: Death Coil
Choose a player, who will be killed if he/she is one of the Living. This kill is in addition to the Undead's regular kill.
Victory Condition: Equal the Living in number.
lol...at the last minute i was going to kill fadeblue, but then i canceled it, and then before i could come up w/ som1 else (it was probly gonna be axelrod tho) it turned day and i couldnt use my ability
i am in for the next game, ya i got really desperate at the end of the game, we need some sort of generic townie role
kingcobweb, you are the Demon Hunter, a Night Elf outsider shunned by all other Night Elves, who wields the powers of Chaos against the Undead.
Ability: Mana Burn
Choose a player. Mana burn strips that player of his or her abilites until the next cooldown.
Victory condition: Eliminate the Undead.
Edit: there is a crucial flaw in any game with 12 people as confirmed townies.
EDIT: Or perhaps a sign saying "I'm an inspector"?
Erm, so why was this aborted?
Summary: Game was too pro-town to be worth playing.
Vote: armlx
Oh, so now you're calling me stupid?!
Action: Death Coil armlx
Sign me up for the replay.
edit: @fadeblue: I gave Stevie the idea.
Spock is not portrayed correctly. If Vulcans are above petty emotions, what motivates him to join the most elite starship crew in the galaxy? I, on the other hand, have transcended the weakness of emotion and achieved a blissful lack of caring. Apathy is my strength, our strength, which prevents us from being all-to-human. In this spirit, may Meh be with you, always.
yeah, remember we can PM each other during the day, right? I tried to stop puzzle, but I got on after the damage was done.

I kept the information because I didn't want to make myself an undead target. In retrospect, I should have just released the info, since it probably would have been the same every night.

The suicide thing: Exactly my point, the mafia truly could not have counted any excess claimers as true members, as the town could easily take them down.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a page with a link to all the Heroes and their abilities.
