During your small journey you find yourselves on the outskirts of a small town. The building look to be in run-down condition and noone is seen moving about.
Moving towards the center of the small grouping of building someone standing near the fountain calls out to you "Welcome travelers. I am Decard Cain. What brings you to our once thriving town of Tristram?" he says with kindness ringing in his voice and sadness hanging on the words.
Looking around from the fountain you see a forge not far to the north, across the street a small inn is still open, its sign barely hanging on above the doorway.
Looking southward a small home still stands, but nothing much going on there, across the way a church, its doors still wide open, but the appearence of not having visitors has taken its toll here
"Damn! What in the name of the Spider Queen's Drider pet sock puppet is going on!?"

...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
A man who towers most others is standing right there, like a mountain. His beard is braided and holds a metal ring at the end, after which there is a small bobble of hair going wildly in all directions. His skin is rather pale compared to the local populace, and his hair doesn't offer much contrast. There is a chain tied around his waist, over his belt, but apart from that and his fists he seems to not be carrying any weapons.
"Looking to spend some coin and perhaps earn some more." He grunts back, keeping a safe distance from the man, as if startled by the overwhelming hospitality the man seems to offer for no reason.

"Yes, you are free to spend as much as you like, but i'm afraid you won't really find much to earn in this desolate town. You would possibly make more money farther east towards the coast." Cain says as he points eastward.
"But you are welcome to stay a long as you like, I just recommend you avoid the mighty cathedral over there" he says pointing to a large building behind the small town, a little farther northward.

"I fear nothing that could possibly lie within a church, abandoned or not." Merai says distantly. "My name is Merai."
The others note her partially withered skin, the greyish tinge that hints at some sickness... or perhaps something worse than that. She wears a medallion around her neck etched with a strange symbol, and her height makes her look even thinner and more frail.

Cain looks at each of them, his eyes full of sadness, but showing renewed hope "That cathedral is where our hopes and hearts faded. You will only find death and decay inside, but if you choose to go we will not stop you. You can purchase equipment from Griswald at the forge or stay at our fair inn. If you find items and don't understand them, just bring them back to me, I will aid you for a small price." Cain sits down on the fountains edge.
"Know this my friends, it is dangerous inside and you will risk your lives, but if you succed then others will surely be given respite"

As long as we're going to get THE BOX sometime, and can toy around with it, everything is fine.

"Either way you look at it, knowledge is power and a secret is the ultimate weapon, and dark places like that tend to be filled with secrets." Alvring speaks, running his fingers through the braids of his beard. "Still, secrets tend to be fairly well guarded. If I am to venture there, I want to know who I am risking my life with, and I will not agree to go until I've drank a good gallon of beer. Would be a shame to die thirsty."
