Nodding, Reynard quickly unlatched the heavy armor that held him back. He kept the longsword handy, but what he didn't need he threw in the flames. He then deposited the other body on top of his old armor, to make it appear as if he'd been killed as well.
To finish the scene, he cut a swath on his arm and squeezed his fist to cause the blod to pool where he once sat.
Turning to Laucian, he said, "Let's get out of here."
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Laucian leads Reynard away from the site of battle and heads to the slums. He knows he can lose himself there with a minimal amount of time. As they move, he sheaths his rapier, then looks over to Reynard. "Is that blade where your training lies?"

Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.
Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.
As Michael calls on his deity's wisdom, something went wrong. It's as if the figure doesn't project an aura whatsoever. Michael can't tell if he's evil, good, or if he even exists.
"The time for questions is not now. Follow me, child." The figure turns, and starts heading for a solid stone wall.
Michael tilts his head behind the figure's back, but begins to follow. Before he goes, he reaches into a bag at his hip. He pulls out ten gold coins, and gives them to the boy and his family. "You need these more than I do," he says gently.
Without another word Michael follows the figure, wondering if it will go into the wall and how on earth it expects him to follow.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
"No, I prefer two blades to one, and I certainly prefer to use something more...refined than this. I enjoy the use of kukries."
It was obvious the pain had subsided, and he was getting back to his normal self. After ditching the helmet and armor, Laucian could see that Reynard's body was made of lean muscle, and he wore his hair long and in a ponytail. It was clean he preferred the arts of dexterous and elegant fighting. He looked young, even by human standards.
With a flippant wave of his hand, the shadows around the slums seem to flow into each other, and produce a shape like a door on the bare wall. The figure entered without a word.
The young boy's family sat there stunned at the paladin's generosity. The mother was able to choke out a tear-soaked word of thanks, and they all stayed in their place as the paladin left.
Boy! What have I told you about getting recklessly involved in a situation. There were five of them! You're lucky you weren't killed!
The voice in Laucian's head paused.
Did he say he prefers to use Kukris? That's a hallmark of the Tiger Claw style, boy. I know you know nothing of it, but perhaps we can find some way to teach him.
"Huh," is Laucian's only response to that piece of information. He takes a deep breath. "Well, we'll have to see what we can do about getting you a pair of those."
As the pair head deeper into the slums, Laucian keeps an eye out for other Raydrosian patrols and keeps a hand on one of his daggers.

"Stop, children." A voice rang out to the pair from behind them. Reynard snapped to attention and drew his blade, hunching down and looking like he was ready to pounce on the figure standing behind them.

See, boy? He's a natural. Well, maybe you don't. You were never interested in that sequence of maneuvers. Take my word for it. He's a natural.
Laucian turns in one spot to gaze upon the speaker. "And you are?"

As Michael walks into the shadows, his breath is consumed for a few moments. It doesn't take long, however, for him to find himself in what appears to be a long-forgotten underground tunnel. Almost every surface is dripping with water.
the chilling voice of the figure rings once again, "If you have questions, child, ask them now that we are away from Raydros's ears."
"A fellow patriot." Is all the voice responds with as he looks at the two. The figure's presence is unnerving. It's as if he is there, yet isn't. It's like Laucian can see him, yet can't, all at the same time.
Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.

"From my fellows, Dereina. My parents and brethren saved me from the usual life of a Drow long ago." He smiled an absolutely perfect smile before continuing, "It's ironic how one group of elves can manage to find my existence atrocious, while another find it endearing. He smiled again as they walked, almost looking as if he were floating.
"I am nothing. I am a shadow. The form of the man I am a shadow of is named Cyrus. In fact, he's known as Cyrus the Shadow, and irony, considering my existence."
Michale notices the figure's lips never move. "I also want nothing to do with you. The real man, however, sent me to bring you to him. You appear willing to defend the innocent of Rainese, and his goals mimic that notion."
"It's as good a solution as any and will get us out of the open. Let's go."

Michael nods slowly. "So this... Cyrus. He wants to drive out the Raydros army and liberate the people? I would gladly pledge myself to a cause like that."

I knew that was coming. Don't worry, you guys can pull that off. It'll just be more of a challenge than what you've faced before. Hey, just be happy I didn't add Kaegro into the mix.
Michael follows the 'shadow' as it walks. "So who is this Cyrus?"

As the pair followed the figure into the slums, they noticed that those that had previously occupied the streets quickly withdrew in what passed for their dwellings, trying to distance themselves from both the figure and the two men.

"If you are not my enemy and are not here to cause any harm, then who are you? And why are you here?"
As Michael talks, he silently asks Pelor to reveal to him if the figure has any evil in his heart.
