Group A Consists of Graka, Josh, and Helix in the clearing. What they do and where they go is up to them.
Group B consists of everyone else. Currently you're in the midst of the dark forest with something stalking you while trying to find water before Julian loses control of his flame and burns the whole place to ash... or 'something' gets brave and attacks.
The knight fully sat up, Sky keeping a close eye on the two strangers. "A little dizzy, but otherwise okay. I am Sir Josh of Silverleaf," he introduced himself to them both, "and this is my companion, Sky. Don't worry, he's well-trained and won't attack you."

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
"My name is Helix, as I stated, and this is Neko." He gestured towards his sword.
"I'm sure you're unsure of whats going on, and who we are, I assure you we know as much as you do." 'There are others, from all walks of life." He stated.
*Little one don't overwhelm him, you're giving him too much information,... stop it...*
Helix looked down at Neko, sneering at him, and in a rushed whisper said: "I am not overwhelming him... stop the lecturing, why do you always have to treat me like a child!?"
*Little one....
I swear me and my sword fight like a married couple...
Julian muttered "well that's a few defenders down, I'd say we find that water and fast... I'd like to... hmm... no no, that's probably just as safe... well I don't think anywhere here is safe... yes, yes, water is the key for now.... oh right" He looked up to the group "In which particular direction am I fleeing?"
Graka extended a slimy hand to Sir Josh. "Graka Tho'ak. We're searching for water. Had a bigger group. Suggest we find them again. Heard disturbance in woods possible predators. Safety in numbers."
"Which way did they go, and how many of them were there?" Josh asked, mustering the strength to stand up. With the two alongside each other, Sky's size stood out. Wolves his size were a rarity, for certain. "Once we all find each other, we can figure out a game plan." He peered toward the black sky, and couldn't even tell what time of day it was because the clouds were so opaque. The landscape looked as shadowy as it would with the moon at the night sky's zenith.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Icthys quickened her pace and urged the group to do the same. The sooner they were out of this dessicated forest, the sooner she'd be up to full fighting strength.
She trusted her senses to tell her of any change in speed or direction of these "wild beasties" the fire-mage spoke of. Were they frightened away but that display of power...or drawn closer by the lure of prey?
"Tai, is it?" she said to the cat-man. "You can move through the trees faster than any of us. Try to stay up there, where there's more cover. Warn us of any danger from the sky."
[Icthys moves at a brisk walk straight in the direction she last saw water, a ways apart but keeping within mutual sightlines of the group.]
Looking up at Icthys when she addressed him, he nodded happily as she finished speaking. "Sure, no problem! I'll just circle the group once and then go a bit out ahead."
Tai jumped up, grabbed a branch, and swung himself into the nearest tree. He then, by swinging quietly from tree to tree, using his claws to stop and change direction easily, made a quick circuit around the group, keeping his eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary.
[If he sees anything, he will stop to investigate, and then report back to Icthys. Otherwise, we will get back to the front of the group and search the upcoming woods in a fan-like pattern.]

I opened one last year, got two crap worldwake packs and 8x scathe zombies, which I promptly hid around my sister's apartment for her roommates to find. But, yeah, it was a piece of crap.
You, sir, have just won the internet. Congratulations.
~As Tai leapt from tree to tree, something caught his eye. A small flash of red amongst the bleak lack of color. As he looked for where it came, something grabbed him, muffling his voice and pinning him to the tree~
~Three slender figures dropped effortlessly from the trees in front of the group, standing visible just outside the torch light. All three looked roughly the same, tall humans with pale white skin and shoulder length black hair. They wore nothing but black pants made presumably from some animal. The first and closest to the group was male, slightly taller then the others, and had a stripe of red across his chest, covering a jagged scar. The second male held Tai in a firm grip with a dagger to his throat. And the third, a female, held an odd looking object in her hand that looked to be either a rock or a chunk of wood, however in the dark and int he back, it was far to hard to tell what it was.~
"You have invaded our home Ascendants. We have not harmed anyone that has not deserved their fate in centuries, why do you come now? This intrusion better be of good tidings, or your friend over here will not make it through this meeting."
~the lead figure crossed his arms and waited for a response from the party~
I actually had a bit more for this scene, but I wanted to get it down before work, and I woke up late so I was in a bit of a hurry. There was also going to be a group shot of the vampires, but not this time. future enemies will have images to show off what they look like when descriptions fail me.
This is your first real encounter, and keep in mind that ONLY group B is in this encounter. should Group A wander up while this is going on, then they will be involved too. Now you have pretty much get to decide whether or not to talk or to fight. Keep in mind that we do have another party member's life on the line here.

"We have no intention to interfere with the lives of your people, or with your forest," Icthys began. "We were merely seeking to pass through to reach the water on the other side. We are all terribly thirsty."
The cat-man had spotted the threat before anyone else. It would not do to have him killed. Icthys at least owed him that much.
OOC: Seth, can I get a confirmation on the positioning and distance of all parties relative to each other, as you envision them?
EDIT: Also how far away we are from the group with Helix, Graka, and Josh.
"Great...this is exactly what I need. More hostile people. And no one has any idea what they're capable of. Worst case scenario: Several people die. Best case? We resolve our conflict with open and honest discourse and sing Kumbaya afterwards. Not likely..."
With that in mind, Terry looked around him, eager to find a good hiding spot should things get heated real fast.
"One of them called us 'Ascendants' though...What does that mean...Maybe someone will ask for me..."

~The lead vampire quirked an eyebrow~
"Water on the other side? Other side of what? Darkheart? Have you never been to Evangelia? There is no water on any side of Darkheart. The closest coast is over the White Gate Mountains, and if that's where you're headed, you're going in the wrong direction. Now then, if that's true, prove it. If not, and I suspect you to be lying, tell me why you are here or your little kitty becomes tonight's dinner."
OOC: Seth, can I get a confirmation on the positioning and distance of all parties relative to each other, as you envision them?
Yes, you guys are all roughly in a tight cylindrical formation with Julian in back and you and terry in front. The trio of enemies is in a triangular formation roughly four meters in front of the group. The Lead vampire is at point and the female is about a meter farther back then the one holding Tai
Jack kept his hand on his blade. "Listen, we don't have to cause any trouble here. Just give us our comrade back and you'll get your proof right here." This was going to get ugly real fast from what he was seeing but trying to talk things out first and finding out it works is better than getting everyone killed.
OCC
I'm guessing we're all seeing this so I deleted my earlier post.
"gljl...There's a pond near... here.... Look from top... of tree" He managed to croak out, with the vampire's strong grip around his neck.
Who the catlitter are these people, and what the catlitter are they? Aren't you supposed to act kindly when you meet people? Wait, did they say dinner? Eat a living being? Tai looked frantically around, trying to think of why they might be doing this. Shaking despite the ice-like grip, Tai's claws slid out involuntarily as he waited for what was going to happen.

When Tai was caught and the new beings appeared, Sy drew his sword in reaction and stood ready. Despite his size, the warrior had mobility on his side, but he could only do so much if a battle took place. He didn't speak, but instead surveyed the surroundings for any and all possible vantage points to the three. His eyes shifted from branch to branch, trunk to trunk, etc and he focused back on the vampires.
It's too dangerous to just throw caution to the wind...Let us see how this plays out, Sy...

Julian was glad to be in the back of the group, away from the three. He glanced behind him hoping that it was indeed just the two groups. The last thing he wanted to do was fight with fire magic in the middle of a forest. He'd survive just fine with his flame retardant clothes, but... the rest of the group would have a vendetta Julian didn't want to deal with. For the moment he just focused on keeping his flame going so the entire party could see. He hoped he had enough mana to last this encounter and help the group find water. Traveling would be much faster when they could all see, not just the few in front.

Imagine how I feel when I find half the posts are 2 hours before I wake up lol, granted today we got lucky as most of us have to wait on Seth to get off of work.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Water." Graka said, heading back in the direction of the other group. "Come on. Come on. No time to waste. Skin not fun when dry."
~At the mention of a lake outside the forest, the female vampire vanished into the darkness and was gone for several minutes. When she returned, her face was turned into twisted awe as she approached the scarred leader~
"They tell the truth... it is... odd, but they are not lying. This is not Evangelia Sire, I am not sure what happened during that storm last night, but we are not home. I mean, this piece of Darkheart is home, but the rest of the forest and the rest of Evangelia have been... replaced..."
~The lead vampire nodded slowly and vaulted up a tree for his own look. After a minute he came down with the same awed look~
"This is most... unsettling. I am now unsure of what to do with you trespassers. On the one hand, you have invaded what is possibly the last place that we can survive, for that you should rightfully be slaughtered. However I am not sure where we are, or who any of you are, so perhaps I should let you live. Come, tell me all the reasons I should let you continue to the lake, and maybe I will show mercy this day."
"If you come from Evangelia, which way to the city?" Julian asked out of curiosity in hopes he could catch his bearings and that other pockets of the plane would exist here. "and for reasons to let me live... ...eventually I'll leave this place, I'm sure, and you wouldnt have to go throguh the trouble of burying a stranger or being haunted by vengeful spirits, no clean up if I walk away! ...after getting a wee bit of water of course." Julian bowed respectfully, being careful not to accidentally ignite anything or person on fire. Perhaps meditating in the field alone would have been safest.
Seth how far away would I be able to see the group and the vamps?
As soon as you pass that first row of trees and you're in the forest, you'll be able to spot Julian's fire pretty easily. However they're about a kilometer into the woods at this point, so running would be a good idea.

"There's maybe a couple gulps in there, you're free to take it if it helps, because I think we should get back to the other's as fast as we can. If we're going to fast let us know."
He smiled and nodded, and took off in a dash.
