You encounter nothing of note between rooms 16 and 13. As you make your way down the wide corridor between rooms 13 and 14, you hear distant chanting.
Peering into room 14, you find the source of the chanting. Seated in wooden pews throughout the worship space are 14 cultists*. The worship space appears to have survived the centuries of neglect quite well. The room is lined with six massive onyx columns, inlaid with gold and silver. At the back of the room are two small basins. One holds holy water, and the other sacred oil. At the front of the room is an ornately carved lectern. Behind the lectern is room 15, the sanctuary. You can't see exactly what's going on back there, but based on the pained screams coming from the area it can't be good.
*They don't appear to be high ranking cultists. You suspect they're of the "generic mook" variety.
...this appears to be the place. Crap. Reed says to himself.
"This seems to be the place," Reed says out loud (but quietly), "There are quite a few, but none of them seem very strong. We can sneak past, or we can fight."
Reed's eyes glow blue to punctuate his words, "But I say we try to take them by surprise. We could kill half of them before they even knew what was happening. We have robes, we could sneak up behind the last row of pews and attack before they knew what was going on. We can't waste too much effort on these underlings, whatever is behind that door will take all of our resources."

"I do not expect I will make it far unnoticed. Perhaps Reed, Strathalmere, and Luan may advance to more favorable positions, then Korvat and I will draw their attention to the back, while Dieknuh supports us."
Emeryn keeps the greatsword out, hoping to make this fight a quick one.
Reed nods, "Yes, between your armor and Korvat's frame, I didn't think the ruse would work well. Should I set a trap, like I did before? Lead a few of them to a place of our choosing for an ambush?"
Unfortunately for Strathalmere and Starfall, between the torches and the candles and the magic coming from the altar, it's remarkably well-lit in the nave.
Of the fourteen cultists sitting in the pews, ten of them immediately spot Starfall and begin shouting something about "intruders" and "disrupting the ritual" and "not another grick" and "giant cat". (It's hard to hear over the continued chanting of the other four and the echoes of the ritual being performed on the altar. The acoustics in this space are amazing.)

Round 1a
Strathalmere looses an arrow. It strikes a chanting cultist, but unfortunately her robe was not cut for a gnome and does not fit well at all, so the arrow only damages fabric. Paravrax casts a spell, putting the gnome cultist and another of her companions (a male tiefling) to sleep.
Two of the cultists are sleeping. Another two (a male Halfling and a male Dwarf) are still chanting, unaware of the melee behind them. The remaining ten charge the party, drawing scimitars. Two go for Paravrax, two go for Strathalmere, two go for Reed, one goes for Lucial, one goes for Dieknuh, and two go for Emeryn:
vs. Paravrax: Two cultists, a male tiefling and a female half-orc, charge at him, blades swinging. The tiefling strikes for 4 damage, while the half-orc misses.
vs. Strathalmere: Two more cultists, a male dwarf and a female half-orc, leap over a pew to strike at him. The dwarf hits for 4 damage, while the half-orc misses.
vs. Reed: Another two cultists charge Reed, a female human and a male tiefling. They try to hit the cleric, but fail to connect.
vs. Lucial: A male dwarf strikes the elf, hitting him for 4 damages.
vs. Dieknuh: A male human strides towards Dieknuh, and swings at her. The scimitar scratches her arm, but causes no significant damage.
vs. Emeryn: A female dwarf and a male half-orc assault the paladin, their weapons glancing off her armor.
You were all so close to hitting--they have an AC of 12.
Also I rolled the races/genders at random and was highly disappointed by the lack of diversity.
Dieknuh uses the opening in the human's swing to kick at his far leg before choking her grip on her warhammer and delivering a tight swing to his upper body.
Standard two-handed attack, no other actions.
Attack
"Huh," Reed says as he backs away [whatever the safe disengage distance is] and a dagger drops from his sleeve into his hand. He flicks the dagger at the human female cultist. "Ladies first."
It looks like it's just Lucial that needs to act, so I'll preload my round 2 action like Kahedron did.
Seeing the others take their positions, Paravrax turns and breathes deep, exhaling lightning at the cultists assaulting him (if there's a way he can maneuver it to hit any additional cultists without frying party members, let me know. I feel Paravrax would try this but I have little sense of how we're laid out in this room).
Peering into room 14, you find the source of the chanting. Seated in wooden pews throughout the worship space are 14 cultists*.
