If you all couldn't tell, I"ve been offline since last Thursday. Three days in Denver with a friend followed by two days of DDR tournament. Now I'm back in action and catching up, thanks for your patience.
I'm sure it's already evident, but I'm a little lazy about posting this past week. Work is tiring me out. I'm doing my best to keep things updated as much as possible.
As per nominations, I'm trying to see exactly what categories we're going to have. Best Colosseum Poster is in, of course, and I'm trying to get a few more categories. If nothing else, we can have a private Colo award session of our own. I'm not sure how the trophies would work in that case.
I'd prefer it if the nominations for the Best Colosseum Poster would be public, with possibly a single addition from each of the mods if needed. So think of who you want to nominate!
Hey Nai and Yukora, long time no (digitally) see! I was thinking about rebooting Disegreth with a slightly more focused plot and executing it better this time around by refining my NPCs a bit more and adding storyline benchmarks to make sure things don't veer off track too much. I'm just wondering if you two would be on board with me completely restarting it?
Since there's been one post per year in this thread since 2008, I figured I should get in with the 2012 post.

A way to get players from elsewhere into the site into the Colo would be great. But I don't see how to do that beyond just being active in other places in the forum, making friends, and maybe asking as an aside in some PM or another if they'd be interested in checking the Colo out.
Hrm... maybe we could run some kind of role playing contest? Some big event that's easy for an MTG player to get into. Something that could work with a few hundred players (if even a dozen stick around that'd be golden).
------------------
I also made a recruitment thread in the main Colo. I realize we hadn't considered advertising in our own backyard (Trabant and I have been trying some recruitment drives elsewhere on the internet), but looking at the last active date / last post discrepancy between a number of Colo players I'm getting the impression that there are a few people keeping tabs on the Colo but not posting. Maybe we can tap the cloud of people that are already here?
That's not a bad idea. I was just wondering if there was any way we could post a recruitment in any of the other parts of the forums. Just to generate interest from people who wouldn't otherwise know about us because they only frequent the other parts of the forum. I just don't want to get attacked by mods for posting outside my realm
That's where the contest idea comes in. Basically, we host a community event that just happens to be in this part of the forums. Not sure WHAT, though.
I can think of ideas for a contest for Epic World in particular for example a new race contest. But I'm not sure what we could do for a colosseum in general event. Some way for members to gain a trophy would be ideal.
There are many reward options. I'd even be willing to chip in for some kind of physical reward, like buying a box or something (that might make the community event far too competitive for our liking, however). But we'd still need to design a fun event that gets people in and thinking about maybe playing in a forum WP in general.
Whatever we think up, it should be:
> Fun!
> Take a decent amount of time, perhaps a month or two, as we want to them to develop the habit of checking the Colo.
> Easy to join/participate in.
I also think it would need to be something that doesn't give people who can post several times a day a massive advantage against people that only post once every 1-2 days.
I'd like it to actually involve RPing in some fashion.

The moderator game appears to be quite successful, but is does not appear to be spilling out into the rest of the colo.
Quick question: have you guys considered forming a Colosseum Clan?
If you worded it generally enough you might be able attract people who are interested in other aspects of RPGing than forum based and also help spread your footprint about the forum.
As for your contest idea the clans, custom card creation and personal writing all used to run them. So if you have a quiet word with the mods of those areas they might be able to help you out.
I'm fairly sure that if you approached the clan mods with an idea for a new clan and a couple of contest they will welcome you with open arms.
And as the person to blame for the Mods game infesting your forum, give us a chance it has only just started and it is the first time a lot of us have done and RPG over a forum so need to get used to it. Once that has happened hopefully we will start spreading out into the other areas.
Also consider this an open invitation to crash the spectator thread. The more links we can build between the colosseum regulars and the mods the better and the more likely that we are going to spill out into your areas.

I'll second Kahedron's invitation to crash the spectator thread. I started the second thread with the hope that the local regulars would come in a talk, while also keeping the game thread to the game. It's part out-of-game discussions, part director's commentary.
And while I'm here, . You may or may not have noticed that I'm the new mod for the Colosseum. (There hasn't been an official announcement in Community Issues yet, but the front page has been updated so I assume it's public knowledge now.) I promise not to wreck the place. Wait: There's a Forum Jump at the top of the page and at the bottom. They show up at the bottom, not in the top. I think that may be it.
