"You know... I think I just shouldn't think about it for once... maybe I should just let it happen and hope for the best. Otherwise all this doubt is going to kill me one day..." Shirin spoke in a moment of clarity, but still, it was easier said than done for her.
"well..." Shirin's clone thoughtfully muttered, might help for now but you need to keep these things in mind. It's not gonna be easy, that's for sure. But there's only so much I can do for you. Getting her to be your friend is something you will need to do on your own" While she knew it had to be done...something just didn't seem to fit. Like she was destined to screw up somehow.
"now you can't think like that! Have some confidence in yourself for once. Besides...there is one thing you have that will get her riled up. Just make sure you know what you're doing when you pull it out."
the mental projection of shirin's subconscious inched herself closer to where the original was, which made the girl more than a bit uncomfortable. What was this ace in the hole she supposedly possessed?

"Well..."Shirin's clone said with a sickly sweet grin on her face. "The thing that you have is..."
Shirin's mind was a mess. Colors began to swirl together, sounds ringing out in her mind in a cacophany of nothingness. Blackness overtaking her vision as the dream implodes on itself into nothingness.

With a yelp and a gasp, Shirin wakes up in a cold sweat. Her body is completely drenched in sewat, and all for nothing. That last part of wisdom she wanted to impart on herself, lost forever to the ravages of her unconscious mind.
For a moment, she considers not even going to the library. If she couldn't convince herself that she deseved the other mage...there was no way she could convince Whitney how much she needed her. And yet...
"You really need to at least try. You never know what will trigger something, a memory, a sudden sense of deja vu, and all of a sudden you will know what to do."
You know what? The voice in her head was right. She has at least a chance to get inside Whitney's head. She may not have another chance. So what else can she do other than wash up and take her best shot?
Still, she will have to hurry. The library is at least a 5-minute walk. She would want to change, maybe add a little makeup...does she have enough time?
"You do realize you have another wardrobe right with you, right? One that will take care of all of you worries and give you another boost of magic, at that. Just keep your cool, okay?"

Shirin's eyes seemed to awake when the voice spoke, and they caught the pendant lying on top of the drawer. "So what are the pendant's limitations actually, what can it do for me?" she asked hastily to the voice, nearly speaking those thoughts out loud.
"That's not exactly an easy question to answer, but I think I know what you mean. shirin could only hope so, as without some mental guidance she knew she wouldn't have the time to pull this off.
"If you want to use your pendant to call forth the staff, that shouldn't be a problem. You did it yesterday after all. But you may be thinking of the change of clothes that comes with it - if you need something to wear quickly, it would certainly suffice. If you wanted to try and conjure some new threads, that may also work, although a bit redundant. As for the staff itself...you don't have the ability to conceal it really...but if you need it for whatever reason, it's simply a conjuration spell away. That answer your question?"
Almost out of instinct, Shirin walks to the dresser, gingerly grasping the pendant as its latent energy wrapped itself around her. In the tricky light, it almost appeared to be glowing, begging her to tap into it's otherworldly power. And yet...
Part of her still has her doubts. But she has to try to push those aside, right? Either way, she has a decision to make.

Shirin sighed, not really sure what the best choice was, but certainly she shouldn't waste more time... On an impulse she just put the pendant safely around her neck and grasped some fitting clothes from the drawer after glancing over the options. Dumping the sweaty clothes she had woke up with in a pile in the corner, something she wouldn't normally do, she stood in front of the mirror putting on the fresh clothes. Into the mirror she stared, trying to look through her own eyes, into the depths of her mind to find those secrets locked within...
No time, no time, damn it... she rushed downstairs...
As Shirin rushed out the door, she was met with the sea-borne chill of the october weather. A shiver ran through her body but she paid it no mind, her brain was too focused at the task at hand.

Shrin was slightly out of breath as she made her way into the library. It was now just occuring to her how cold she was, having not taken her coat, but the library's furnace kept her from getting a case of hypothermia. She was here in time, and didn't show any signs of having had such a freaky daydream not fifteen minutes ago.
A magical aura was in the air, one she quickly identified. Whitney was already here, and her charming magic was still lingering, but yet more patient, more stealthy. She had two options on how to approach the situation.
One on hand, Shirin could do her best to ignore the magic and keep a clear mind when talking to her. On the other hand...If she wanted to be the girl's friend, submitting to a calming aura might help her relax a bit more - perhaps develop a closer bond with the strange arcanist.
What's a girl to do?

Shirin let the aura pass through her, fill her, yet not subdue her into mental frenzy. For some reason she felt somewhat confident, and this confidence made her not succumb under Whitney's presence.
Without doubt, Whitney had sensed Shirin's presence as well, and in a focused state as this, Shirin actually thought about this and kept her thoughts on low profile, for she knew Whitney could read them if the girl wanted.
She took a deep breath to steady her and walked towards where the trace of magic in the air went; to Whitney.
Shirin's body forced out a soft gasp as the charming aura consumed her, calming her senses in a cocoon of warmth and muted passion. The sensation was magical, but not like her own magic.
With her resolve restored and her mind focused, the water mage followed the path the magic took on its way to her, before discovering the source.
Her heart skipped a beat. Her body didn't show it, but there was something...heavenly about how Whitney looked right now. And then their eyes locked once more.
Either due to the effects of the spell, or Shirin's firm resolve; the two girls locking eyes was just that. No magical disturbance, no eerie sensations that sent her mind into a frenzy, nothing. Just one girl looking at her, with her looking back.
She could get used to that normalcy.
"Oh, hey Shirin...glad you made it. I guess we should get started...unless you have anything you want to say first?"
There were hundreds of things Shirin *wanted* to say. But none of them made sense to her - the words all jumbled up, her mind confused by the question. Maybe she should just try to get on with things...

Whitney returned the smile as she stood up, slinging her backpack over one shoulder. If Shirin had to guess...the other girl had come right here after leaving the school. Did her parents know where she was? Did they even care? Was this normal for the girl to be gone for hours on end even after the final bell?
"Well, this is it...my little project if you will." Whitney is standing in front of a door. That's not the weird part though. The weird part is that in all her trips to this library, Shirin can't remember having ever seen this door. As the blonde girl grasped the doorknob, a soft cyan light radiated from her hands for a second, before opening the door and ushering Shirin inside.
What they saw wasn't anything that one would expect to see in a library. the floors were covered in foam pads, sinking a little with each step either of them took. The walls were a muted ceil blue, spare of any real kind of decoration. It was simple, but it was pretty large...at least 10 by 12 feet, Shirin figured.
Did Whitney conjure up something this massive?
"So yeah. I'm not really sure how much you know and how much I need to go over with you, so we should probably start with the basics. Do you have a staff or anything?"

Shirin allowed a smile as she took the necklace that had been hidden, partially underneath her shirt, partially covered by her hair, from her neck "I have. I also practiced conjuration... and uh... aquakinesis (wasn't it?) a bit already. The other possibilities I know only by name, not by practice." She let her eyes probe the room for a bit "Did you... conjure this all?" If so, she was very impressed.
"yeah, this is all my handiwork, including the door - I'm especially proud of that. The lock is a magic trigger - cast any kind of spell and it opens. Do anything else and you get nowhere." Whitney actually seems...happy, almost. Proud, at least.
"Still...you say you know aquakinesis and conjuration? Well...let's see just what you have. Get your staff ready, and show me what you have."
While shirin is more than willing to show Whitney what she learned the previous day, there is a bit of concern about the transformation involved. She learned that much last time, the staff isn't the only thing that changes, and if her memory serves, it was particularly...potent.
Still, what choice does she have?

"Okay." Shirin said and nodded, with no more than half the confidence she had stepped out of the door with. She knew however, that this was her chance to at least impress Whitney a little, instead of making herself look pathetic. She tried with all her might to force the staff into being without closing her eyes. Luckily she could normally muster a fair amount of concentration if needed, but whether it would be enough? Don't doubt, just... do it for HER! Something in her mind seemed to whisper, but at that moment she wasn't sure whether it was herself, the mysterious voice that was her mentor, or just a figment of her imagination that acted weird. All she saw was the pendant she wanted to change into a staff and the image - the beautiful, beautiful image - of Whitney in the background.
Shirin tried to lock her focus in, but the magic was not doing any favors. She was so close though...waves of arcane energy were crashing over her, trying to get the girl to submit to the mystic influences. It's too much...her vision starts tunnelling, mind aobut to shut down...
"Wait! Don't let her down!"
She didn't know where it came from. She didn't care. But she had to keep her goal in mind. The beautiful angel standing right in front of her.
She had to pull this off! For Whitney!
That last spark of resolve was the push the girl needed. The charm started changing shape, forming the staff she had be granted, floating in midair. ribbons of cerulean energy wrapped around her body, transforming her clothes into the cutely conservative wardrobe.
"...Wow." Was all Whitney could say, scratching the back of her head as Shirin snatched the staff from in front of her, allowing the crystalline teardrop to swirl the water it contained. It certainly did a good job of calming the girl down, while Whitney regained her composure.
"Well...that was really impressive. But I hope you haven't burned yourself out on that. Can you show me what you learned?"
She seems legitimately surprised, which was probably what Shirin was going for. But that surely wouln't be enough on its own...

"I'm..." Shirin breathed in deeply the sterile air of the room "... feeling fine." There was confidence in her voice, glad that she had not disappointed Whitney. She studied the girl thoroughly now, not intensely her figure as to be drawn into pure desire, but with the goal to find something on the girl she might be capable of duplicating using conjuration.
As Shirin studied the girl, her eyes couldn't help but to be drawn to the brunette witch's beauty. Her silky, chocolate-brown hair, framing her angelic face; her long legs and slender waist, her perky...gah! This is what she was trying to avoid!
Clearing her head of those strange thoughts, Shirin tightens her focus. There really isn't anything for her to use. The room is totally bare...wait a minute. Glancing back at Whitney, she finds something: Whitney's necklace!
From what the Arab-american girl can see, it's very similar to her own necklace, currently acting as her staff. A fine silver chain, probably has a clasp of some sort on the back, and a shimmering teardrop-shaped crystal at the bottom. She can picture it in her mind...now all she has to do is recreate it.
"Ummm...is something wrong?" Whitney seems to be blushing slightly - ther was no way she could miss you staring at her like that. Hopefully shirin's magic would be able to do the talking for her.

"I... I'm still trying to get used to the idea of... this all, and oddly... you're the first person in ages I can just normally talk to, even though it's not about normal things... Someone who doesn't judge me by how I look or how social I am. Or am I wrong?" Shirin asked, trying to get at least that out before her words would make her emotions burst out. She had her gaze fixed upon Whitney's pendant, falling just between the girl's gentle curves... damn it! She tried to focus... she focused so hard, remembering every link in the chain, every angle of the crystal. And then she felt something in her hand, something cold and smooth. Surprised by the ease she had conjured the necklace, she brought her hand in front of her. Grasping onto the chain, she let gravity pull the crystal down so that it hung there for Whitney to see. "I believe this is yours?" she said with a slim smile. For now her thoughts too seemed to be focused more on her newest feat than on Whitney's physical presence.
"Huh? Wha?" As Shirin produced the necklace she had created, it caused Whitney to place a hand on her neck, making sure that was actually a conjured replica and not the item merely having been spirited away by slieght of hand.
"Well...I'm not much for talk, frankly. But you're right, I really don't care about how smart or social or sexy or whatever you might be. I'm here to help you. Although I will be honest, I really kind of wish that I'd never run into you."
That was a harsh blow for the budding sorceress to take. Whitney didn't want anything to do with her?
"Don't get me wrong! It has nothing to do with you. It's just...well, I really am not comfortable with how this turned out. I mean, you just woke up one day and realized you could do this stuff - I was nowhere near as lucky. I...I just really try not to do much with my magic anymore; it's just too many bad memories. But as a wise man once said, 'fate has a way of putting in front of us that which we most want to leave behind.' Think about that for a bit."
Shirin does think about that little quote, although she has no clue where it came from. It does help her mood to know that Whitney doesn't think negatively of her as a person...but it's still painfully obvious that the girl needs someone to commiserate with; all that tension and stress bottling up is turning what should be a kind hearted angel into a cynical shell of a young woman. With a heavy sigh, she continues, forcing a small smile to cross her lips.
"Well, that's enough angsting about my miserable failure of a life for one day, I think...I still have to show you what else the water can accomplish. Seeing what you did just now, I think I won't need to treat you like a baby...so does anything strike your fancy?"
From what she could recall, Shirin had the power to create shields or use some kind of mental magic, in addition to her conjuring and aquakinetic abilities. At the same time...she could swear that the other girl had made some kind of Fruedian slip in her long winded rant. She may want to call attention to that at some point...while keeping her mind on the magic.

"I understand you, because you and I are... probably more alike than you might think... my life's been complicated, and... You really are the first person that decided to help me. But I would like to know then: why? Why did you decide to help me, even though you could have chosen not to?" Shirin asked, she didn't quite understand some things. Couldn't Whitney just have chosen to avoid her?
Whitney sighed. Shirin can tell this is a touchy subject, but all the same...
"I'm not sure there was much of a choice on my part. You remember how you felt when we first met? Try multiplying that by ten, expanding it to your whole body, then doubling it again. And not being able to do a damn thing about it. That's how I felt."
The Iranian-American girl hadn't even considered that possibility. Whitney didn't seem pissed about it - there's no way she *could* have known. But now she does and no one would fault her for feeling guilty.
"I really don't want to know how alike we are - you're a good kid and all, but this was more for my sake then yours. Not to be selfish but the main purpose of teaching you how to keep your powers from just spilling out at random and sending me into some magic-crazed frenzy. That's the number one reason I am doing this - teaching you about the casting is just because I hate to leave things unfinished. And yet..." Shirin perked up. Sure the brunette had been pretty damning in her responses, but still, a glimmer of hope held out in the girl's heart, hoping that wouldn't be the end of it.
"There's something I can't figure out about you. I mean you've done some very impressive things...and some very strange things. Like you're running hot and cold at the same time, and I have to admit, it's kinda..." She doesn't finish the sentence, but there are several words that would cause Whitney to suddenly turn away, a faint blush visible on her pale face. And Shirin is thinking any one of those could be the key to this enigma of a girl.
"Anyway...what say we actually do something?"

A hint of embarrassment lighted up on Shirin's face, for she hadn't really wanted to make the confrontation go this way, but she quickly shrugged the feelings off. "Yes, let's." she said then, resolutely. "I thought that mental powers... telepathy and the sorts, were very important as well, and I couldn't practice that without a partner. So... I suppose we could start with that. At least, it's something that really has my interest..." Perhaps it would turn out to be foolish.. but all she thought about now was the things she might learn, not the things - personal things - it might reveal.
"Telepathy isn't very hard - you did it this morning. Just focus on the person you want to send the thought to, and then imagine speaking it without actually saying the words." Whitney's mouth doesn't move as her voice rings out in Shirin's mind. In and of itself there wasn't much of that the girl didn't already know of.
"Mentalism transcends just telepathic communication though. Mind reading is a basic mental spell, although it more or less will only reveal surface thoughts. Most people have an innate defenses against much in the way of probatory stuff, and with witches the mental defenses are even better. Bottom line is that to go any deeper than what someone is thinking at the moment, your subject either needs to be willing to be probed...or unconscious so they can't block you out."
Now that was something interesting, and quite possibly useful. And it also explained a few things about how much Whitney knew (and consequently, how much she didn't know.) Right now, however, Shirin had to focus on the casting - even if it was just locking in on whitney's thoughts, to make sure she understood what it looked like...what it *felt* like.

"So, um... can... should I try it on you?" Shirin asked, which was perhaps stating the obvious, but with Shirin some things just weren't ever obvious enough until she was assured of it by someone. That... and she was a bit nervous about connecting her mind with Whitney's, as she didn't know what the consequences were, what unwanted things could, unknowingly or not, happen.
"now you can't think like that! Have some confidence in yourself for once. Besides...there is one thing you have that will get her riled up. Just make sure you know what you're doing when you pull it out."
