A low mournful dirge hummed softly in the air, as if played by the souls of the weeping. And then slowly, softly, it ceased. Dust settled. Stones rumbled to a halt. Bodies ceased twitching.
A shriek! Piercing through the afternoon like mirrors being scratched on. The pitter-patters of someone... something... that steadily grew louder.
It's coming.
HarbingerOfDoom
Garin scrambled upward with a fright. A quick inventory check revealed a fire wand, from a previous precision and accuracy class, and a looking glass, borrowed from someone and forgot to return back. With a sense of urgency, he glanced at his surroundings.
He was in a long corridor, lined with windows. A drinking machine laid to his right, crunched neatly into two halves by a falling beam. And from that direction, something was coming. Friend? Foe? To his left was the other end of the corridor, its prospect equally unknown.
BigTime
Dimitri groaned and turned his aching body. He shook his head slightly in befuddlement and tried to stand up. With a window sill as support, he righted himself and took a look around. He was in a... classroom? A sword gym? The gym was ruined, with cracks lining the walls and several overturned equipment. There were the front entrance and the back entrance, though the door on the back entrance was split into two. Nasty.
Oh yeah, his swordcraft training...
A quick check revealed he still had his molten blade, in a somewhat serviceable condition. What happened? He had stayed back for some extra training. That much he remembered. And then?
The shriek echoed again and that brought him out from his musing.
Hearing a noise from his right, Garin takes out the borrowed looking glass and looks down the corridor, in hopes of identifying the noise.
Not really being patient enought to carefully search, Garin puts away the looking glass and heads to the drink machine, in hopes of gathering something, anything to help calm his racing pulse.

Dimitri broke through the front entrance of the gym and paused. Bodies littered the hallway. Most of them he did not know, but some of which he had seen once or more and even greeted with a friendly conversation or two. They were all dead. Their life gone. Extinguished.
There were two... grossly misshapen humanoid creatures crouched over one of the corpses. They seemed to be devouring strands of what he could only identify as... intestines. One of them looked up at Dimitri with its yellowed bloodshot eyes and opened its bloody maw.
"Mwuahh?"
HarbingerofDoom
Through the looking glass, Garin could see... something. The ceiling lights at the end of the corridor flickered several times and then died out, before repeating the cycle. As it happened though, he could see a pair of yellowed bloodshot eyes blinking in his direction suspiciously before turning away. The eyes belonged to a human? A monster? Garin couldn't really tell though with the flickering lights playing havoc with the shadows. But the shriek sounded further more than that.
The drink machine seemed unusable. A few prodding and poking at the various consoles brought out something unexpected from within. It was a spider. Only it was about the size of his head and also the ugliest little thing he had ever laid his eyes on. It skittered up to the top of the drink machine, clicked its mandibles in a rapid sort of sequence and seemed to **** its head (if it could be called one) at Garin.

The sun woke him up... or rather, the glare of the sun inducing sunburn on his face woke him up.
Kaleb opened his eyes and immediately shut them tight again. Bloody sun. What the heck happened? One moment he was resting beneath the shady part on the roof of his school tinkering with his favorite Drone, and the next moment everything... exploded.
He shaded his face with his left hand and tried to open his eyes again. Strange... It actually felt really cool now. Where was the sun? He opened his eyes, blinked and... stiffened his body.
The freakiest thing he had ever seen was floating right in front of him, filling his immediate vision. It was a huge eyeball the size of an adult human with multiple veins running along and down it, coalescing into a long meaty tube with a small mouth at the end. There were multiple long rows of wicked looking teeth lining that mouth. And said mouth was grinning at him. Sort of.
Dimitri turns and runs back the way he came, thinking all along that's not normal...
He heads for his locker. Maybe there was something there that could aid him. He'll have to see when he gets there.
For now though, he brandishes his sword and sprints for saftey. "Master always told me my training would come in handy. I guess it's time to find out!"

[XD You should have asked if there was a locker within the gym in the first place, but I'll humor you. :p]
Dimitri approached the row of lockers in a sprint, only to discover in dismay that most of them seemed to be crushed and inaccessible. A quick check luckily revealed that his, at least, was still openable. Within, he found a Dagger and a Healing Salve. [Add to your inventory yourself]
"Mwuahh?"
With a start, Dimitri quickly turned around to discover one of those... monsters had pushed open the door with its head and was sniffing around near the entrance. Through the doorway, he could see that the other one was still busy with its... meal.
Freaking out, Garin does the first thing that comes to mind. He whips out his fire wand and chants the incantation to set a target on fire. Quickly afterwards, he turns and runs down the left hallway.

[Yes, you can take both items if you wish. Also, the monster was at the doorway, causing the door to be ajar or partially open.]
HoD [Don't need incantations. It's a matter of willpower. You just will it. Yes, that means you can rapidly send out balls of fire if you wish.]
The spider-like critter caught the blast dead-on and was flung to the ceiling, shrieking the entire way.
As Garin turned to run down the left hallway, he could hear the angry clicking and hissing of the still-alive critter behind him. And he could hear the same answering calls from somewhere outside the windows lining the corridor. He could not really tell, but it did not sound like a mating call at all.
HoD
There was a pair of doors at the end of the corridor, the further of which was slightly ajar. Opposite the doors was a staircase, leading both up and down. There were a few corpses lying around the area as well.
Looking back, Garin saw that where there was once one, there was now a swarm of those hideous critters. Even more were spilling into the corridor from the windows and they seemed intent on saying hi to Garin. And leading the swarm was a badly burnt "spider", seemingly bristling with anger and smoking slightly as it scurried forward.
HoD
As he turned around to search the room for something to act as a barricade, Garin found himself face to face with the slightly sparky end of a Shocking Staff. The owner of said weapon was a girl roughly around his age, dressed in a light green blouse with dark jeans. Her emerald colored eyes stared intensely at him, framed by her long wavy black hair.
"Make a single move and..."
She blinked.
"Wait... a human?"
BT
[You can edit your own character post to add the items to your inventory yourself.]
The monster slowly ambled forward in Dimitri's direction on all four limbs, all the while sniffing the air. Behind it, the door slowly shut itself with a soft click.
Dimitri takes his sword and does his best to lop the head (if you can call it that) off this beastly creature. Then he makes a break for shelter, specifically where he can observe the creature's habits, if it lived that is.

The molten blade sliced neatly through the monster's neck, sizzling its meat and bones upon contact. It let out a pitiful strangled cry as it collapsed into two halves, its yellowed bloodshot eyes boring into Dimitri accusingly. Both halves laid there on the ground twitching and spasming. Certain parts of the wound began oozing a yellow stinky fluid while the rest started smoldering into ash. It gave off the smell of cooked meat. Didn't look like a chicken though.
The door still remained shut. There was no indication of any movement from its... companion.

There was a solid second of stunned silence before the girl roughly pushed Garin away from the doorway. She took a peek outside and gasped.
"Holy crap! Just what did you do?! A mere barricade won't stop them!"

Roger's head was being pounded by tiny elves with sledgehammers. By his hazy count, there should be lots and lots of elves. He felt like crap. With a low groan, he opened his bleary eyes and tried to sit up, only to find himself beneath a... girl?
She was a short and pale girl (couldn't really determine her age at a glance) with her long reddish hair tied up in a ponytail and some freckles on her cheek. There was a pink brooch on her hair. She wore a blue denim jacket with sleeveless white top and a black flare jeans with a silver chain.
Only her hair was matted with blood by now. Blood?
Roger felt his heart quickened and hurriedly checked her pulse. A steady beat. She was still alive. He let out his breath with a relieved sigh.
Allin
Aaron was in the Garden taking a walk when the world went white and he collapsed into a boneless heap on the ground from the force of it. That much he could remember as he slowly stirred to consciousness.
He licked his lips to wet them. He tasted blood. Bitter. Coppery. A loose tooth? A split lip? Blood.
He opened his eyes. The world was white. Literally. There was a sort of white mist permeating the air.
All around him, the Garden was burning. Trees split and burned. Flowers wilted. Grasses scorched. Soils smoked. Heat everywhere. And in the middle of it all, was him.
A low keening noise sounded in the far distance. Aaron licked his lips again. Blood.
With a pained hiss, he forced himself upward. What the hell happened?
A quick inventory check reassured him that he still had his Icy Drone and one of his Warding Symbols. The other one was presumably lost somewhere.
And then, he looked up. His body stiffened.
In front of him, a pair of yellowed bloodshot eyes stared. At him.
Roger tried his hardest to move out from beneath her as she started to move. He didn't want to harm her with his movements but also didn't want to feel trapped anymore. "Are you alright?" He asked her.
"Well," said Garin, "One of them surprised me, and I put a fireball into its face. I guess it wasn't strong enough, and it called all of its friends... hmm... Perhaps you could electrically charge the door with your staff to force the spiders down the stairwell? That could work."

Her eyelids fluttered weakly. Her hands grasped the nearest thing she could find, which was Roger's hands, and tried to use that as a leverage to raise her body up. That effectively halted his movement in trying to free himself.

"I have something better."
The girl let out a smirk and crouched down at the doorway, taking out a Warding Symbol from one of her jeans' pockets. She mock drew a line across the base of the doorway with said Symbol and stepped back. As she did so, the entire air above that line seemed to shimmer with a faint translucent energy.
An instant later, the first of the critters, the badly burned spider reached the doorway and flung itself at it with an angry shriek. The was a sort of ripple on the translucent wall and the spider was flung hard across the corridor and down the stairway with a squishy thump.
The rest of its brood screeched to a halt right in front of the doorway and began to litter around the area, angrily hissing and spitting. However, they made no further attempt to approach the doorway.

The nearest corridor happened to be the one to the left. And down it Dimitri traveled, leaving the remaining monster behind to feast on the corpse. The scene was repeated further up however, with dead bodies lining the corridor and occasionally the same type of monster was spotted among them... eating. The shriek echoed again, this time sounding much much closer.
Greenmaster
Mat crouched, trying to shake the ringing from his ears and steadying himself with his sword against the floor. What the bloody hell happened? Did those students of high arcane tamper recklessly with something best left alone again?
He looked around at the gym he was in. Frankly speaking, it looked like a war zone, with smashed equipment and cracks lining the walls. The front entrance was gone under a pile of rubbles, leaving the back entrance more or less intact. The section of the wall with the windows was entirely gone, showing the beautiful view outside. Only said beautiful view consisted of some sort of white mist which permeated everywhere. He could not even see beyond it.
The hair on the back of Dimitri's neck stood straight as the shrill pitch of the scream echoed not too far away. He knew it was risky. There were even more of those monsters, and he didn't know if that scream was friend or foe...
Still, he had to press on. If there were lives at stake, Dimitri knew what he would have to do.
Dimitri pressed on toward the scream, checking rooms as he went, on high alert of these monsters. The last one didn't put up much of a fight, but they obviously want to eat parts of him.
(Do these creatures know or care that I'm here, or are they just too concerned with their meal at the moment?)

"I have no idea..." Roger struggled to remember the girls name... He thought it started with a "J" but couldn't remember. "Are you alright? It seemed like... Oh I don't know...
