Andrew had arrived home after a terrifying day out with Clarissa, Aaron and his girlfriend Kalina. Some guy named Gedd had terrorised them, and both guys had realised their girlfriends' terrible secrets.
Nobody was at home, and as such everything was as it was when Andrew had left. Although neat and tidy and efficient, there didn't seem to be anything in the fridge or pantry to eat. A note sat on the bench from Andrew's father:
"Andrew,
Be home late tomorrow. Have gone on short trip to your grandmother's house for visit. Didn't think you would want to come. Keep the house tidy.
Dad"
"Well, he's right about that..." He muttered as he, once again, dug for something to eat... Nothing good. He settled for some old Crackers he found in one of the higher cabinets. After two bites he realized how old they were. They were very stale, but it was still food. It wasn't moldy either, as far as he could tell, and they were mostly flavorless. After a glass of milk he went into the living area and turned on the TV. He was sad that his deck had been (partially) stolen, but the only money cards in the deck were the shapeshifters, which could easily be replaced. It didn't matter much to him any way, he was anticipating Lorwyn's legality and was already preparing his Fae deck for an FNM or two. He had most of the cards for it already. (Prerelease + smart trading = Good Fae deck easy!) But he was lacking his third and fourth Thoughtsieze. "Why does this thing have to be so expensive..." He thought to himself. After setting his backpack down by the chair he was sitting in he started to watch the news.
He didn't like the news for many reasons, but it was something to keep his mind off of things.
The daily news jingle danced upon the screen as the pretty newsreader trilled the boring news headlines. One story, late in the program, piqued Andrew's interest. It covered the exact proceedings which he and the others had found themselves in earlier that day. The reporter, oblivious to such concepts as humans with extraordinary abilities, blamed the happenings on failed gas-cylinders and teen hoodlums. As quickly as the coverage had started, it ended, segueing into a feel-good story about a puppy and its long-lost owner.
"I'm famous...ish..." Andrew muttered as he he put his cards back into a deck box. He shut off the TV and headed into his room to sleep. It had been a long day.
He couldn't even recall what day it was. He didn't really care though. He just wanted to sleep. When he got in his room he turned on HIS tv and then went to sleep with it on for white noise.
