Sorry about the delay. A school thing came up. (again)
I'll try to update the site with last week's stuff tonight.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The 3CB Site Has MOVED!!! I have purchased my own domain name & such. The new site is at http://3cb.DratItAll.com. The basementdwellers site is still up for now, but it is not updated and I will soon be taking the files off of there and save him some space. Thanks again to basementdwellers for hosting
Do you know of other sites that run 3CB? Let me know! Sometimes I like to look at other sites' metagames to get new ideas for formats. So far, I know of (CURRENTLY running the game):
Remember that because of this week's BACKBUILD format, all point totals are "reversed." However, the grid has the "correct" matchup. This is why your total score and grid layout look contradictory. I.e. a "0" on the grid is a good thing. A high total score is a good thing.

Banned Decks:
*Any deck that can feasibly force your opponent to discard more than 1 card a turn. (The word force here is important. Mind Bomb is still legal, unless combined with Mindslaver ) (NOTE: Remove-From-Hand effects count as discarding)
*Any deck that can feasibly win on the first turn.
The Next Tournament
The next tournament starts right now and will be tabulated on the closing day. Entries will be closed Mar 13, 2005 at midnight PST and results will be posted soon thereafter
THE NEXT TOURNAMENT WILL BE A SPECIAL FORMAT!!! BACKBUILD!
Instead of creating your own deck, you'll be creating the deck that everyone else plays against you!
Your deck must include:
A way to cast all the cards in its hand (being able to cast one card and then not the other is not okay; Black Lotus/Glowrider/Pox is banned)
A way to win the game (Saprazzan Cove/Confiscate/Energy Field is banned).
A way to remove some type of permanent and/or card in hand.
The deck must be able to cast (amend: AND USE) all three cards and still win (Mishra's Workshop/Ensnaring Bridge/Steel Golem is banned)
NOTE: To "Fix" this format and to shake it up, "Flailing" anything is banned, as are all mana-related upkeep costs.
If you're unsure of a deck's legality, ask me.
PLAYER OF THE MONTH DETAILS
Ways to get points:
+X points for each point you get in a 3CB tournament (i.e. if you get 30 points in a tournament, you get 30 POTM points)
+10 points for winning a "Coolest Deck" title (I will no longer be eligible for this)
+5 points for winning a "Coolest Deck Name" title (I will no longer be eligible for this)
If you have any questions about this format, about the rules, or simply want to see some statistics about the game, visit 3cb.DratItAll.com The 3CB page!
On the page, you'll find this week's format, links to all the 3CB's, and all-time rankings.
[-----------------------------] POTM TROPHY THINGAMAJIGGER
I realized that I'd never seen a Trivia/Games/Contests thread give out real-world prizes for their online games. I thought it might be interesting to try out.
So, every POTM winner will recieve (assuming they're willing to give me their adress) a customized 3CB trophy. It will be a card from my collection which somehow fits you and will have written on it "3CB POTM WINNER!" and the date.
It's nothing you could sell on eBay but it should be fun nonetheless.
(I'm still working on these)

I'd sincerely appreciate all suggestions being in that format. Having the decklist of what I'm correcting in the post makes things 100% easier for me. Thanks.
ANYway,
Feel free to discuss this week's and next week's 3CB in this thread and post any questions you may have! Good Luck!
Hey, the "fast" decks worked. What you REALLY need to do is play something that can lose to the winning deck...
True. I shouldn't have said slower. I meant "suckier"
Although now I realize I've missed out on lots of crap cards by being away from Magic for a period of time. I had no idea Flailing Soldier existed. Too much 3CB and 4CB has taught me only to focus on cards that actually have impact.

Yeah, well, you're talking to the guy who tried it in constructed (extensively) and STILL forgot it existed...
Anyway, Flailing Soldier hit the meta head on. No one wanted to lotus out a threat because it would lose to almost everything.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
Now I know why you didn't want to change to that other deck GB. It would have 6-0'd everything. If it doesn't work anymore, I'll have your hide :evil2:.
Yeah, my 452 turn deck took the longest...I think. I didn't bother checking all of the others.
EDIT: Okay, maybe not 6-0...it wouldn't have ever won though.
Agreed, I did not submit because it just mindwrapped me. But now I can just copy a deck....I hate myself for it but I like seeing how it goes and well its too hard to coem up with bad decks.....

POTM TROPHY THINGAMAJIGGER
I realized that I'd never seen a Trivia/Games/Contests thread give out real-world prizes for their online games. I thought it might be interesting to try out.
So, every POTM winner will recieve (assuming they're willing to give me their adress) a customized 3CB trophy. It will be a card from my collection which somehow fits you and will have written on it "3CB POTM WINNER!" and the date.
It's nothing you could sell on eBay but it should be fun nonetheless.
(I'm still working on these)

Also, everyone, Listen Up:
New format for suggesting corrections:
I'd sincerely appreciate all suggestions being in that format. Having the decklist of what I'm correcting in the post makes things 100% easier for me. Thanks.
ANYway,
Feel free to discuss this week's and next week's 3CB in this thread and post any questions you may have! Good Luck!

So, uh, now that there's a "metagame," I suppose I've got to find something much slower...
Hey, the "fast" decks worked. What you REALLY need to do is play something that can lose to the winning deck...
...hey, guess who was the only person to manage that!
Forbidden Orchard is tech.
I hate this format :slant:
I'm actually surprised that I won. I thought there would be too many decks without replenishable mana and I'd lose.
-Goblinboy
No longer staff here.
No.
I think I built something that was slower than that, but it wasnae good.
My deck o' worthlessness got outraced by them tho.
Ehm Goblinboy, I asked what I had to play if I wanted to play Forbidden Orchard and you said that it needed to be something that removes two 1/1's...
oh well, at least I owned walls...
Yeah, my 452 turn deck took the longest...I think. I didn't bother checking all of the others.
EDIT: Okay, maybe not 6-0...it wouldn't have ever won though.
I was wondering that as well. Looking at the table, we have the same results, but he's up 2 points. Why GB, WHY?!
and some of these decks are slow of wtf proportions.

Agreed, I did not submit because it just mindwrapped me. But now I can just copy a deck....I hate myself for it but I like seeing how it goes and well its too hard to coem up with bad decks.....
aurrowsparrow - I submitted it with my other deck ideas :p.
Because of the strange nature of the points, I had to add backwards by hand this week It's probably just arithmetic. I'll check.
Dusk_ - Sorry, man; I'd already done your matchups You'll probably win it this week, though. I can't see how you won't.
Tahn - I meant that you had to be able to win around the Orchard, which your initial deck didn't do. Sorry if I phrased it badly
-Goblinboy
Don't worry, I won't hold it against you :D. Though...you would make a nice addition to my mantle piece...
Don't worry, but can we maybe ban Forbidden Orchard (or is it too late), that card is just too strong...
Not really. It turned out quite easy to build a deck that lost to it; Draco, Darksteel Reactor.
also, does Infernal Denizen count as removal? because I don't think it should.
