Some new stuff for round 4. Please pay careful attention to these points.
1) Future Sight is legal to play this round. If you have sent me a deck and wish to change it, please PM me.
2) Barren Glory is preemptively banned. It's like Form of The Dragon, but easier to cast and a faster clock.
3) Do not send me decklists before the thread is up. Normally, if the thread isn't up, it means I haven't picked a list yet. It's unfair to me and to you if you send your lists before I post this thread.
4) Restore Balance has been added to the banned list. This is retroactive action from me, but the fact that a very intelligent player from MDV's forums sent in the deck means that there needs to be some clarification about its legality. It's not legal, don't play it.
POTM is a close race. This week's results will go towards this month, and R5 will start the new POTM!
With all that being said, good luck!
If you have any questions about 3CB that this thread can not answer, please check out thesethreearticles, written by GoblinBoy back in the 3CB hayday.
I've also written a primer on 3CB lands, which you can find here.
My second article on X card blind lands is done and published! Check it out here!
Good luck everyone!
--------------Submission Deadline--------------
Please, PM your decks to Death_By_Beebles at either MDV or MTGS. The deadline for submission is 12AM EST April 28th, 2007.
--------------Rules and Submission Guidelines--------------
Your deck is composed of 3 cards which all start in your hand.
Your library contains 0 cards and you don’t have a sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favor.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You play each opponent twice; once going first and once going second.
For each win, you score 3 points.
For each draw, you score 1 point.
For each loss, you score 0 points.
Three rules restrict the kind of deck you can send. They are:
1.You may not submit a deck that can win before the opponent's first main phase.
2.You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.
3. You may not submit a deck that uses a card on the 3CB banned list.
Other than the aforementioned, everything is handled exactly like a real game of Magic.
If you want to play, PM me a message with a heading similar to " 3CB Round #X", where X is the current round number. The format for the message should be:
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
--------------Current Banned List--------------
All Ante cards
All Promo cards not available on Gatherer/Autocard
All Unglued and Unhinged cards (excluding basic land)
So, DBB, why can't my deck win, exactly? If I'm facing creatures, I basically win. If I'm not, well... I lose. But I win against creatures every time since they are completely unable to attack.
They have no graveyard, so they can't discard a card, so they'll never be able to attack.
It's also not a standoff, since I have the treasure hunter to beat on them.
The only thing I can see is my treasure hunter being blocked and killed by another creature, leading to a draw, but I still get the draw.
That's what is called a "mise" deck. If the opponent never plays anything, you can't kill yourself.
nope. you're thinking of pact of negation. this one you can play without having to respond to anyone's spell. SO TURN 2 GAME OVER STILL WORKS!!! BUAH HAHAHAHA!!!
how many of you people are going to be using artifacts this round? o.O

Actually, your deck is played for the best possible outcome on your part, meaning you'd never play the Pacts.

Well the problem is, most decks will be able to keep you from attacking. In my mind, there is a slim 5% possibility that you could attack and win, but most players are not going to have creatures you can kill.
Basically - you can't beat creature decks because creature decks can kill your tiny creature. Your creature disruption is like Ensnaring Bridge, but you're using a creature to deal damage. Therefore, an opponent can't attack, and can therefore block.
You can't beat non-creature decks because... well, you just can't beat them. A 10 turn clock is too slow vs a majority of the decks in the field if you can't disrupt them.
This has lead to 20 points each round, which, while it isn't extremely terrible, it is only a 14.8% points earned to total possible points ratio. Never did you win a game in two rounds. That is what provoked my comment.

Bah, the other Pacts don't exist, they were all eaten by Pact of Negation.
Nai: If you still don't know why you can't win, it's because you can only win a game if your 2/2 beats their entire deck. You stop them from attacking you, but you don't have any way to get your 2/2 past their defenses.

Dear MTGS, This is my attempt to go back-to-back at 3CB. I am going to use the same decklist as before beacuse MTGS will be unable to meta-against it. I hope that you have a nice week :). Your Friend, Magicianofthought.
Sorry these took so long, Mogg was set to do them this week, but he's been AWOL for the past two days.:sneaky:

The addition of Future Sight did a lot to change the current meta game. Most people immediately recognized the value of Magus of the Moon, so much so that it dominated the metagame in numbers.

so Force of Will proved to be a nice pick for the round.

Feyd_Ruin's PM was interesting to me, not only because it falsely predicted a mass amount of MY deck, but it also managed to do extremely well. Powder Keg is a great answer, because it can kill just about anything. The plus side to Feyd_Ruin's deck was that it wasn't affected by the Blood Moon effect, so it was able to slid by the majority of decks with a 6-0. Great metagaming for a new format
I will have a new thread up later today, along with the POTM winner!
You can check out the last round here.

The addition of Future Sight did a lot to change the current meta game. Most people immediately recognized the value of Magus of the Moon, so much so that it dominated the metagame in numbers.

so Force of Will proved to be a nice pick for the round.
There are quite a number of good cards for 3CB in this latest set. We'll see if you guys can come up with some other new decks.

Black Lotus

vs
#20 - Niv-Mizzet_Rulez!
Because I'm so original
Leyline of Singularity
Karakas
Isamaru, Hound of Konda
Current Score: 3-3
Suggested Score: 4-1
Karakas can't bounce the Magus when it hits the board, and two 2/2's will just null each other.
Now...let's see if I can actually think something up that's creative.
Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
Magus of the Vineyard
Treetop Village
is an awful deck. It can't even attack with its supposed 3/3 because the deck has to tap to keep its mana source alive
Once again, my tendency to submit a deck as soon as possible and forget about it has failed me.
