Well, this was an interesting round. We basically had one group who abused the infinite mana with repeatable effects, and one group who used it for big guys. In general (excepting SenorClown’s deck), the repeatable effects won over. Token creators were much better than fatties. Buyback proved to be a powerful mechanic for Solarion, but was unused by the rest. It seemed as though several people were expecting an abundance of targeting spells, but their (near) absence left those player’s with basically two-card decks.
In the end, I took the round with a combination of discard and sweeping, to which the rest of the players seemed to ignore completely. SenorClown also had a very strong deck, and I’m sure Chimpanzee could’ve done even better if he hadn’t chosen misdirection.
1. BweeBwee – Plague Boiler, He Who Hungers, Myr Matrix
Peanut Butter Jelly! Most decks couldn’t deal with selective discard AND a sweeper. Myr Matrix proved to be a fine win condition.
2. Chimpanzee – Dragon Roost, Misdirection, Memnarch
Here there be Dragons Oh, if only you had used something else other than Misdirection, you could’ve done so much better. Still, getting 3rd with essentially a two card deck is pretty impressive.
3. Pacman – Windreaver, Crack the Earth, Crack the Earth
(no name) Crack the Earth was OK, but you could’ve gone for better choices. Windreaver was OK also, but the fact that you had to return him to avoid removal made him subpar.
4. Wrath_of_DoG – Mortify, Gilded Light, Darksteel Colossus
(no name) Gilded light was essentially useless in all but a couple matches, and mortify’s instant speed only came in handy in one or two matchups. Darksteel colosuss was also better off as a token maker.
5. Solarion – Pure Intentions, Lab Rats, Invulnerability
Anti-discard tech.dec This was a nice deck, but pure intentions was only useful once, and lab rats could’ve been a better token maker like dragon roost or myr matrix.
6. Halinn – Taste of Paradise, Phyrexian Processor, Altar’s Light
Get the taste Taste of Paradise was OK, but would’ve been a million times better off as Staff of Domination. Altar’s light was some nice tech vs. indestructible stuff, but other than that, it could’ve stood to be better.
7. Unstable – Coalition Honor Guard, Worship, Simic Sky Swallower
Lose life.. noooooooooo!! Coalition Honor guard was relatively useless in most matches, and the Sky Swallower would’ve been better as a token maker.
Fling was kinda crappy, and Peace talks wasn’t really that good either. Once again, a token maker would’ve been better than the colossus.
9. WhammWhamme – Selesnya Guildmage, Beast Attack, Dispersing Orb
iCB is Silly I like the dispersing orb, but the Beast Attack could’ve been something better. Nice job anyways.
11. Dusk_- Reins of Power, Prahv, Spires of Order, Subversion
Metagaming…? Prahv was OK vs. fat but crappy against tokens, and reins proved to be only a speed bump for them. Subversion was just bad.
12. SenorClown – Sway of the Stars, Beacon of Destruction, Spellshock
Randy Buehler’s Day Off Beautiful deck, and almost too strong, but a couple of flukey opposing card choices messed you up a bit. Great job nonetheless.
2. SenorClown – Randy Buehler’s Day Off (12) 49
3. Chimpanzee – Here there be Dragons (2) 47
4. WhammWhamme – iCB is Silly (9) 44
5. Solarion – Anti-discard tech.dec (5) 43
6. Pacman – (no name) (3) 29
7. Halinn – Get the Taste (6) 27
8. zu_Faul – (no name) (10) 25
9. Dusk_ - Metagaming…? (11) 22
10. Unstable – Lose life.. noooooooooo!! (7) 17
11. Wrath_of_DoG – (no name) (4) 10
12. magicianofthought – I Marit Lage (8) 8
I’d like to congratulate BweeBwee as the winner of 3CB #4!

Deadline for Entries for 3CB #5 is Sunday, August 19 at 7:00PM EST! PM all entries to me!
Heh, I was just considering swapping Subversion for some threat with Enchantment/Artifact removal. Definately would have improved my odds. To justify my choice, I was expecting more Ivory Masks :p.
me vs 4. Wrath_of_DoG – Mortify, Gilded Light, Darksteel Colossus
now: 0-0, suggested: 6-0
both games he has to mortify my honor guard, then he can't destroy my worship and i fly in for the win.
me vs 5. Solarion – Pure Intentions, Lab Rats, Invulnerability
now: 2-2, suggested: 6-0 invulnerability always goes on my honor guard, so he can't prevent the dmg my swallower does. not he can prevent it anyway because he has to target the swallower with with the invulnerability. also he can't get rid of worship and therefore can't kill me with his tokens. me vs 11. Dusk_- Reins of Power, Prahv, Spires of Order, Subversion
now: 0-6, suggested: 6-0
im not sure because the land doesn't say the word target, but i think he needs one. and again, the swallower can't be targeted... or if it can target, he has to target the honor guard all the time. so he prevents the dmg the honor guard does, and nothing else. the reins is kinda useless, it does take my critters away one turn, but thats it.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the first match is just a typo, as I remember calculating this match. The other two have been explained, neither the invulerability nor the prahv target. The reins let him outrace you with an extra 8 damage, as the honor guard and the subversion stay on par with each other (SSS is negated by prahv.)
Deadline is to be stretched for another week, until next Sunday. The reason is that I will be moving during that time and won't be able to calculate the results until then. Also, I don't have very many entries yet. If you have not submitted one yet, please do so!
Good job taking this over, Bwee. For those of you keeping score at home, the deck I chose for the round (until I slacked) was Glarecaster, Beacon of Destruction, Altar's Light.
I apologize sincerely to those who this inconveniences, but I'm going to have to push the deadline back another week, as I have just learned that I will not have my own computer back until then. Entries are still open until then.
Ok, I now have my computer back, so I am going to end the round now barring any complaints. Results should be up either later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

This deck was really only good on the play, and even then, it wasn’t perfect. A bunch of 3-3’s isn’t going to win you the round.
Metagaming…?
Prahv was OK vs. fat but crappy against tokens, and reins proved to be only a speed bump for them. Subversion was just bad.
Randy Buehler’s Day Off
