Trying out a 1 Card Blind with a twist: You bid pay life when you submit your card in order to start with mana in your mana pool or to add extra copies of the submitted card. Is anyone interested?
Deadline will be January 1st, 2012 @ 1:00 AM EST.
The rules are the same as per 5 Card Blind, except for the following:
Card Submission
You submit a single card that starts in your hand along with a life payment.
For each 1 life you pay, you gain one of the following below. 19 life is the maximum amount of life you can pay.
1: You get an additional copy of the submitted card, which starts in your library instead of your hand. Skip your draw step during your first turn of a game. 1: You start the game with :1mana:, :symw:, :symu:, :symb:, :symr:, or in your mana pool. This mana doesn't empty from your mana pool as steps and phases end.
Card Restriction
A player may not submit a deck that can force any card in an opponent's hand to change zones before an opponent's first turn.
A player may not submit a deck that can win the game against a blank deck with 10 life before an opponent's first turn.
The turn one kill rule assumes the opponent is at 10 life. I think the numbers needs more tweaking. Next week, I'll probably change it to '20 life before an opponent's second turn' to stop instant win cards like Door to Nothingness.
You make a good point with the discard, Error1. Removing the discard rule would create more tension with single card vs multiple card decks. I'm gonna remove the discard rule next round. I'm not sure about the blanket spell denial from Meddling Mage and Voidstone Gargoyle.
Not sure if anyone picked up on this, or if I've made it clear enough in the rules, but your deck doesn't have to deal 10 damage for it to be legal. For example:
Lightning Bolt in Hand + 2 in Library (2)
:symr::symr::symr::symr: (4)
14 Life
Even though the deck's maximum potential is 9 damage, its legal.
This is interesting; I'll give it a try. I've even got my first deck picked out...

Scornful Egotist in Hand + 1 in Library (1 life)

No longer staff here.
And there is no land rule, so you have to spend some life to get mana in your mana pool, unless you decide to play a single Memnite or something.
anyway I'm willing to give it a try

it wins on the play, vs non flash, non land, non morph decks. I can't think of any deck that would lose to a 2/2 when it is on the draw.
I'll put it up for vote toI'll unban Meddling Mage and Voidstone Gargoyle next week and see what happens.
