EDIT: Results are up. Next week is fast forward week, as described below, only you submit five lands that you always start with to prevent potential headaches (Thanks Mogg!). Also, the deadline will be this Tuesday at 11:59 EST, since I'm leaving for no-internet-land on Thursday evening and want to have enough time to get it done.
EDIT 2: Since I'm actually on schedule this week, I'm starting matches now - don't worry, you can still change your deck or submit a new one until midnight Tuesday! - the reason this is relevant to you is that for my own sanity I am bringing down the normal spreadsheet to work on it and putting up a copy here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AmmDRW6ypgiJdDhxaEJIWXNSX3RDMUJhQ1NJX0ZTOVE&output=html
I really wish there were a way to tell Google Docs not to publish a particular sheet, but there isn't. If anyone has a better idea for how to handle this, I'm listening.
Also, we need a special week. What do people think of:
Fast-forward Week
* Cards with converted mana cost five or less are banned.
* When each game begins, the player on the play chooses five basic lands and puts them onto the battlefield. Then the player on the draw does the same.

I like it, but it totally needs to be called Flash Forward instead.
Edit:
and how is it that my submission, that I thought up on my own, that's only ever been played twice before in the history of 2CB - and the last was 24 weeks prior, sees two mirror matches?

Probably not an issue, but you might want to have players submit a list of five basics, rather than choose at the start of the game. If there's ever a game where one player's land choices influence the other's, you won't want to run through all the options.
The format sounds like a fun idea, though I can also see it potentially getting bogged down in counters.

Did someone hack my brain?
It's been played three times before (18, 5, and 2), but yeah, I was pretty surprised too...

I initially worded it that way because I *wanted* you to be able to respond, but yeah, I guess in some cases it could get really stupid. And thinking about it nothing is really lost by doing it your way. So we will.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.

Yes, nonbasics (and basics, for that matter) are banned, and you can still play basic lands from outside the game once per turn, starting on your first turn (You will have six mana available on turn 1).
Personman Elvish Spirit Guide Gilded Drake
drake is useless against the 2/2s, simply outraces guide
domogrue Exploration Beacon of Creation
resurgance outraces creation, and by the time he can play creation we're 6 creatures up.
even if he quadruple blocks to kill, we'll outrace
Thundersnow Azorius Guildmage Stoic Angel
he can tap the one we untap, but we're playing 2 untapped each turn.
and we kill before he can double tap + block.
tomsloger Azorius Guildmage Beacon of Destruction
guildmage can chump/tap, but we still outrace destruction.
bmh Pithing Needle Lich Lord of Unx
simple outrace
chaos550 Azorius Guildmage Words of War
words of war can kill a turn, but we pump out 2 and well outrace the tap.
Feyd Ruin Exploration Natural Emergence
~Tilde~ Exploration Natural Emergence
ced395 Exploration Natural Emergence
mirror matches. we can deal some damage and trade on the play, but we eventually run out and trade the two summon sick blockers.
Hinotama Exploration Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
simply outraces
Paellin Thwart Sower of Temptation
simply outraces
Nom_Anor Sword of the Meek Thopter Foundry
simply outraces
Um, actually, the Emergence+exploration does not beat thopter+sword. That's the one matchup I went through in extrutiating detail before I realized I completely misread the matchup vs. azorius guildmage.
If you want me to do it again, I will, but the case where Sword+Thopter is on the play, at least, it's pretty easy to check. When it's on the draw it takes a bit more thought, but Sword+Thopter still wins by a hair.

You're right. I missed the life gain part of thopter, which puts you ahead both times.
I'm thinking of running a series of Backbuild games this summer, as just a summer thing. Each week, a different backbuild: 5CB, 3CB, 2CB, 1CB + variants. Once the summer is over, I'll be busy again but it might be fun.
Oh and by the way guys I think I'm going to have to make the deadline be Tuesday midnight, because I'm traveling for the weekend and leaving Thursday night, and given how long this week ended up taking I should give myself a little more time than that.

Thanks. Those were both fairly odd errors, in that I certainly don't remember thinking the matches came out as written - I wonder if I switched them with some other results by accident? I'll do a quick check of nearby things.
@Feyd_Ruin, no we disagree about matches:
domogrue Exploration Beacon of Creation
resurgance outraces creation, and by the time he can play creation we're 6 creatures up.
even if he quadruple blocks to kill, we'll outrace
You on the play:
1. Ex, 2x Forest
1. Ex, 2x Forest
2. 4 land, emergence, bounce ex
2. 4 land, beacon, 4 dudes
3. replay ex (with a non-sick land), land, attack with 3x non-sick, he takes
3. 14, 6 land, beacon, 10 guys
4. two more guys, 6 non-sick, attack, he quad blocks 2
4. 6, beacon for 8 more, 12 guys
5. two more, 6 non sick, he quad blocks three, lets two through, and blocks the last
5. 2, beacon for 10 more, 17 guys
6. 6 non-sick, he quad blocks three and single blocks he rest
6. 2, beacon for 12 more, 20 guys
7. 5 non-sick, he's gaining on you and wins.
so it is 6-0 as written.
I think we have more disagreements but I don't have time to check right this second.
I think my Mana Drain + Lich Lord vs. Sower + Thwart is a pretty interesting matchup. I also think I 6-0 it.
Obviously I can't cast Lich Lord until after he casts Sower, otherwise he steals it and Thwarts my Mana Drain. So I have to sit on my Lich Lord forever until he makes the first move. But if he casts Sower before I cast Lich Lord, I can Drain it and he has to counter the Mana Drain. Then I can cast Lich Lord safely and outrace the Sower.
So I can't cast Lich Lord, and he can't cast Sower until I cast Lich Lord, and whoever casts their spell first loses. Neither player casts anything and it's a stalemate.
...Until we get to turn 85, at which point I can cast Lich Lord with UU + 20 * UUBB open, Mana Drain his Thwart, and then activate Lich Lord's second ability 20 times for the win.
Am I right?
EDIT: Haha, just realized how busted Lavaball Trap would be in this week's format if it worked.
Decks are up, and match-scoring commences... now.
That's a lot of decks though, so it might take a while!

Would lands be banned for this format?
Fattycakes Zombie of Clan Limited
I just think we can't play non-basic lands. Because there isn't much you can do with 5 lands if you can only play 6cc spells and higher.
That makes for a pretty limited card pool when CMC <= 5 is banned

I think my end score problem was that I was counting 1&1 matches as 3 points each, rather than the 2CB rules of 2.

You have me with 3 points versus Hinotama's Exploration Valakut, while I should have gotten the full 6.
You have me with 6 points versus Chaos' Azorius guildmage words of war, while I should not have gotten any points.
