Also: Village/Vineyard. :slant:. Sure, making formats that increase its power isn't helping, but this two-card combo is getting some major play, to the point of domination. Is it a problem? How can it best be fixed? Voice your opinion on the thread!

You: Plains (tapped)
Me: Lotus, Hunter, Lotus, Cutpurse. You are forced to sac Plains.
If I play first:
Me: Lotus, Hunter. Go.

This sequence seems to apply to quite a large number of decks. What have I overlooked ?

Me vs Dasheiff
Me: Daze, Tropical Island, Thallid
Dasheiff: Lotus, Channel, Angel
Current Score: 3-3
Suggested Score: 6-0
He can't play Channel/Angel until his second turn, in which I've easily dropped my Land. Daze doesn't need any mana, or an untapped island, so I can't lose.
Me vs Shadowlord
Shadowlord: Elvish Spirit Guide, Vineyard, Village
Current score: 0-6
Suggested Score: 3-3
Once again, I can counter the Vineyard when I go first, and also play the Thallid without worrying about not being able to counter.
I guess this also applies to Greebo.
EDIT: Oh yeah, just thought it would be fun to point out that the only mana producers that don't need to tap are Elvish Spirit Guide and Lion's Eye Diamond. Interestingly enough, the latter wasn't played.
Shouldn't be a problem in a healthy metagame. It only dominates (esp. the TET variant) when people submit random cute decks instead of thinking about what they're likely to face.
Enchantment destruction, hand disruption and anything that can use the two spare mana all do fine against it.

Should 4-1 Against WET and 2-2 against IthET. Second against wasteland: Temple gets wasted. If he drops the vineyard, then he plays the needle with Vineyard mana, making it so the opponent burns out first: Therefore, they stall from that point. First or Second against Ith: Same thing, only the temple sits around singing a happy song, as does the Maze.
Also, should be 0-6 against GuideET: The dude uses vineyard mana + villiage to drop his ESG and easily wins the race.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, the wisdom to know the difference, and a ****ing chainsaw.
f1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET1(20): Village, go. OR WL, go.
in the first case, i let him get Vineyard, then kill Village with the Wasteland. the worst i do now is tie, but i get to use the Vineyard's mana at first to make a Muse. then i can race the mana burn easily. in the second case:
The first one is right. The second one, no. If they drop the Wasteland first, they can destroy yours before you can play the Muse, or destroy the Village.
BTW, your spoilers don't work...
EDIT: Sorry, I'm forgetting that Vineyard gives you mana too :p. It would help if I could see why you want those changes :D.
feuerdrache: Your spoilers aren't working because of improperly nested tags. I'll see if I can clean that up for you, but it's caused by all the automatic font tags.
Okay, Wasteland's back on the watch list.

Remember that you have to Tap/Sac the lotus to add the mana, so you have to wait for it to untap. Thus it is:
G: Plains
B: Lotus
G: Hound
B: (If Cutpurse, he sac's but hound beats the 1/1)
However, with you going first:
B: Lotus
G: Plains
B: Sac, Cutpurse
G: Had to sac plains, no mana for hound. Dies to 1/1.
(if he doesn't play the plains right off, you can lotus/hunter to put a 2/2 out and still keep him cutpurse-locked)
So it should be 3/3.
This won't affect standings, but I just wanted to point it out for future reference, avoid confusion, etc etc.
18 - Feyd_Ruin: Eladamri's Vineyard; Treetop Village; Wasteland
22 - wonkey_donkey: Hickory Woodlot; Tempting Wurm; Tempting Wurm
Current: 0/6
Suggest: 3/3
Feyd First:
F: Wasteland
W: Woodlot.
F: Kill woodlot, proceed to Treetop/Vineyard him since he has no mana.
Going 2nd, the 1 Wurm outraces the treetop/burn by half a turn.
Same for other WET.
Again, I dont think they'll touch standings, but just wanted to point them out.
No longer staff here.

8 - Dusk_: Daze; Thallid; Tropical Island
Daze of our Lives
14 - Greebo: Daze; Thallid; Tropical Island
Mushroom wanted for holdup murder
Current score: 6-0
Should be 4-1
If I go first I can destroy his land to force a draw. Of course if he doesn' play it I win.
Behold, the power of :symu:!

Not That There's Anything Wrong With That
True on the second, I forgot that the Village can make mana too .
Fayul - correct.
Greebo - correct about Feyd's corrections.
I'll fix these soon.
As Whamme pointed out, how does he use the Lotus mana to pay for Daze when I'm countering the Lotus?

How are you playing Daze before you take a turn when he's on the play?
That's why it's 3-3
Pft, right, for a moment I thought that the score was 0-6 at the moment.
vs.
26 - r_x_: Mishra's Factory; Powder Keg; Sheltered Valley
current score: 2-2
suggested score: 6-0
feuerdrache going first:
f1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
r1(20): Valley, go.
f2(20): Lavaborn Muse, go.
r2(18): Factory, go.
f3(20): kill Factory, swing (r - 15), go.
he can't play anything else.
feuerdrache going second:
r1(20): Valley, go.
f1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
r2(21): Factory, go.
f2(20): Muse, go.
r3(19): Keg, go.
f3(20): WL Factory, swing (r - 16), go.
r4(14): counter on Keg, go.
f4(20): swing (r - 11), go.
r5(9): counter on Keg, go.
f5(20): swing (r - 6), go.
r6(4): counter on Keg, go.
f6(20): swing (r-1), go.
he dies next upkeep.
i've probably missed the tightest play again, as i do every 3CB. if i have, please enlighten me.
(by the way, i believe the confusion in these results was due to a mix-up of Mishra's Factory and Mishra's Workshop. just a guess, though. )
in addition!
the WET decks
vs.
6 - feuerdrache: Black Lotus, Lavaborn Muse, Wasteland
current score: 3-3
suggested score: 4-1
feuerdrache going first:
f1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET1(20): Village, go. OR WL, go.
in the first case, i let him get Vineyard, then kill Village with the Wasteland. the worst i do now is tie, but i get to use the Vineyard's mana at first to make a Muse. then i can race the mana burn easily. in the second case:
f2(20): Muse, go.
WET2(17): WL WL, Village, go.
f3(20): swing (WET - 14), go.
WET3(11): Vineyard, go.
f4(20): burn (f - 18), swing (WET - 8), go.
WET4(5): swing (f - 15), go.
f5(15): burn (f - 13), swing (WET - 2), go.
death on upkeep.
feuerdrache going second:
WET1(20): WL, go.
f1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET2(20): WL WL, Village, go.
from this point he has two options. he can play Vineyard and lose, or he can abstain and tie.
this takes away a bit from their lead. lemme go hunting for some more, see if i can outright win. :B
EDIT: found it by checking their results.
11 - Bluemage76: Black Lotus; Eater of Days; Wasteland
vs.
the WET decks.
current score: 3-3
suggested score: 4-1
bluemage76 going first:
b1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET1(20): WL, go.
b2(20): Eater, go.
WET2(20): WL WL, Village.
WET3(20): Vineyard.
WET4(20): activate Village. (can't swing, because Eater will eat it.)
b3(20): burn (b - 18), swing (WET - 11), go.
WET5(11): activate Village and swing (b - 15).
b4(15): burn (b - 13), swing (WET - 2), go.
WET6(2): activate Village and swing (b - 10), go.
b5(10): burn (b - 8), swing for the win.
bluemage76 going second:
WET1(20): WL, go.
b1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET1(20): WL WL, Village, go.
now here it becomes the same principle as my matchups. if WET drops Vineyard, they lose the race. if they don't the game's a tie. therefore, tie.
with this, the WETs lose 2 more points each (which brings my running tally to 106) and tie me for the win.
BTW, your spoilers don't work...
EDIT: Sorry, I'm forgetting that Vineyard gives you mana too :p. It would help if I could see why you want those changes :D.
wonder why the spoilers don't work...
huh? i'm trying to win, of course! :B
EDIT: work now, or no?
EDIT: Okay, they're fixed. Damn WYSIWYG interface :slant:
WET1(20): WL, go.
b1(20): Lotus, WL, go.
WET1(20): WL WL, Village, go.

Um, tie with what? Without the Wasteland, you can't cast Eater.
<edit> Vineyard mana. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
