Holidays, moving back to school, that kind of thing. My apologies.
Welcome to 5+1 Card Blind.
Mechanics of the game:
Each player submits a 5 card deck to me.
Each deck plays every other deck twice. Each deck goes first once.
With perfect information and no random effects the game result is always the same.
Matches are scored:
2 for a win
1 for a draw
0 for a loss
Whomever scores the most points in the tournament wins.
Rules are the same as an ordinary game of Magic except for the following:
1. Each player starts the game with the following land in play:
Multiland
Land
T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
Shroud
Multiland is indestructible and can't be sacrificed.
2. Both player's hands are revealed.
3. You don't lose for attempting to draw from an empty library.
4. Random effects (including shuffling) always work in the opponent's favor. 5. No player may make a play that would end the game during either player's first or second turn.
This includes not only cards I consider too powerful, but also cards that I believe discourage deck variety and encourage non-interactive play.
This move makes little sense to me. Conflux cards are being revealed on a daily basis, and spoiled cards are occasionally incorrect. Allowing Conflux bothers me essentially for the same reason as mid-round rules changes and banned list updates, except more so. Unless someone submits at the absolute last minute, there is a chance that they will miss an important card revealed later (not that anyone knows exactly what the deadline is, since a date without a time zone could mean a range of times). Beyond that, there is the potential for a card's wording to change throughout the week. Unless a player constantly checks every card on the spoiler, they will not be aware of this. Then, there is also the possibility that a wording changes after the deadline passes. Unless you agree to use the wording of a card as it was at some arbitrary time, which wording do you use?
Essentially, I see a lot of potential complications and confusion, which inevitably lead to frustration. Why not wait a few weeks for an official Conflux spoiler?
Eh, better luck next time. I mostly built that to test the meta. I suppose that a turn 1 channel-fireball isn't enough. Strange, though. There's plenty of control. Maybe I underestimated the importance of counterspells. Daze is a beast though. I would like to suggest banning daze. FOW is fine, because you loose a card in the process, but with people building engines to recur both chant and daze, it's a bit too much. Infinite counterspells are a bit much, seeing as they don't even set you back a turn.
Also, since the multiland is no longer an island, Daze doesn't work.
Actually, I missed rule 5. The thing with Daze is that someone plays an Underground Sea or the like and you are screwed. Especially if they have some way to recur it. Infinite FOWs? something tells me that is broken. Also, yes, FOW is too powerful, but significantly less so in this format. Daze is too powerful.
I very much agree with Halinn. Since the multiland no longer synergizes with Daze, the best precedent we have is traditional 5CB, where Daze sees play in essentially one deck, and is only powerful there because it is used in conjunction with Foil.
Also, since it's far too good in either, I can't say which format FoW is better suited for, but I would imagine Land + Cenn's Tactician/Thallid + 2x Force + 2x Other Blue Pitch spells would be significantly overpowered. It would improve the Pact / Grace package that almost swept round one.
Some of them would just be banned right away if they came in. But to be honest I think it would be interesting to have a special week with some of these listed cards available to use. Who knows, maybe something is fun enough to allow it in full time.
I don't quite get how my deck managed to lose against WhammWhamme's Anurid Scavenger deck. It only needs to cast the Swords on the annoying frog and it wins, or is there something I'm missing?

From what I can tell these are the only cards that one would want to play with (that doesn't span multiple games)
Some of them would just be banned right away if they came in. But to be honest I think it would be interesting to have a special week with some of these listed cards available to use. Who knows, maybe something is fun enough to allow it in full time.
Update: Blood Moon is now added to the banlist.
