Some of you may remember the last iteration of this, it went pretty well.
Error1 Wins HNDG6. His submission for round 5 was signifigantly larger than all others, but not nearly as large as
A( A(g64, g64), A(g64, g64))
The number submitted by wurgel.
HNDG7 is starting with a cap on bids!
* Players may join at any time. If you want to join, simply participate in the next round. Players already in the game can sit out as many rounds as they wish.
* Each round, players PM me with a number. All players who submitted the highest number LOSE that many points, all other players gain points equal to the number they submitted.
* You do not have to post to say you are joining. Just PM me with your chosen number, and please put "High Number Death Game", "HNDG" or something similar in the subject line, as well as the round number.
* Players can go into negative scores.
* Each round ends when the next round begins. This will be shown by me posting to say so in this thread, and posting the updated scoreboard. I will aim to do a new round about every 24 hours, but if it goes on longer because I can't get to the computer, the round will be extended and it won't really affect the gameplay.
* You may post on this thread to discuss the game/formulate strategy/attempt to manipulate your opponents.
* At the end of 10 Rounds, the player with the most points is announced the winner for this game, and we'll start again from round 1!
When each round ends, I'll post to this thread, and update the first post with the current score.
Deadline for round 5 is the Opening Kickoff of the Cowboys/Patriots game this Sunday. About 3:15 CST.
Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
Ah, yes, this game again. I was a bit too greedy last time. Let's see how things go here.
(I still have no idea what the range is on the first round, so I have no idea whether my number is too big or way too small... the first rounds of game 4 and game 5 were quite different.)
I have it on good authority that the Phyrexians are going to win. However, Venser is then going to teleport the whole of New Phyrexia inside the Zendikar Hedrons, leaving the Phyrexians and Eldrazi trapped in an eternal struggle of the mechanics that nobody likes.
The next set will feature both infect and annihilator, and be called Maro'sWetDreamia. It will also feature a new Jace, to ensure that it sells well.
If you do, you'll lose points for sure. Unless everyone else submitted a negative number that's lower than yours. (I'll tell you right now that I submitted a positive number.)
If HDNG4, the only one I just happened to read, is any indication, we will start by playing for table scraps and end up with someone winning by putting in a grotesque number of digits and getting lucky that someone else put in even more.

Too late.
Hmm, it looks like I can just submit this amount each time. I will probably lose horribly but it makes small number bets fairly useless.

OK, but in HNDG4, on the first round, the highest number was 15. In HNDG5, the highest number on the first round was 844,899,997. That's how crazy these things are...

I know I didn't put in a number quite THAT high...

What will you do?
Be assured of winning a comparatively small number of points.
Too late.
