Huge apologies to Lucknorris for forgetting his poem in the first version of this poll.
On that note: the PRC is still looking for a replacement host to take the reigns from me. If you're interested and think you can handle the workload, message Talore and/or myself.
Vote for the poem(s) you feel is the best (up to two). Remember to adhere to the "Honor Code" when voting.
While it is understood there is no absolute means to monitor the intent of a vote, we ask each PRC participant to exercise integrity when voting out of respect for the contest:
- Please give each poetry submission an equal opportunity in attaining your vote.
- Please read, or at least skim, all the entries before voting.
- Please do not vote for your friends just because they're your friends.
The Poetry Running Contest puts good faith in its participants to act in an honorable manner.
Contestants, remember, you are required required to vote (and you can't vote for yourself)!
Happy voting!
*Interested new participants should submit their poems here.
The title is the first line
I just got off work
And I am tired
So I won't review the other poems
Until they have a chance to take up space
In the pink matter in my brain
When you randomly
Break your sentences into pieces
Is it poetry?

my mouth is full of winsome lies -
and eyes are full of death besides
but luckily the soul is wise -
it sees beyond my blindness and
forced failure makes a better guise,
so as i come again alive,
it feels like life's a decent plan

Strange art question is as poetic as prose.
Shameless plug:
Ame Dreams was a poem I wrote back when I saw Wolf Children: Ame & Yuki in January. It's my favorite movie of all time and I'm still tweaking the poem a bit. It may get published in a lit mag, we'll see. If you guys haven't seen it, I encourage you to check it out. It's brilliant.
Maybe it's the sci-fi nerd in me and maybe I just interpreted the poem in that light, but IcecreamMan80's was far and away my favorite. I felt a marriage of faith and science that in today's world is almost never seen; science and faith are held as mutually exclusive entities. I feel like I have to stop going about this poem now before I digress into some dissertation about space exploration and man's place in the universe.
I voted for Blippytheslug's poem because he told me where the love isn't so I could only be left questioning, Where's the love?
Just thought I'd announce it here too, for discussions sake: Guilan will be running the PRC starting with PRC 218. It means a lot to me, and I'm genuinely saddened that 1.) my punctuality started slipping near the end (and I was just getting good with names, too!), and that 2.) August would make me unable to run the contest anymore anyway. It's been a great ride with a lot of fun, I got to oversee some great weeks and watch some great poets show up at our humble contest. Thanks to all of you who participate, for submitting and being active and keeping me humble, and especially triple-dipple-fudge-ripple thanks to Blippy, for always hounding me.
Regards,
Zelderex
But ****, on to the poetry!
Voted for both of the Untitled poems. Blippy's was really nice. I loved how he separates the notion of love from any composite pieces, elements or aspects, and uses that negative space to define love as something that could either be immaterial, indescribable and irreplaceable, or simply not real. Loved the imagery too.
Preve's was just perfect. The American Psycho-esque music references, the parallel distance and intimacy, the contrasting apathy and hurt. Simply spectacular, with wonderful imagery to bring it all together.
EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the PRC Ophidian! You showed up at kind of a weird time, so I neglected to send you a welcome letter, but it's a pleasure to have you around!
Thank you for welcoming me; I hope I can at least lend a different voice to discussion. Judging by the poetry and varying responses of past threads though, I don't know how much stranger my variety will seem apart from the already diverse group of people involved here. Guess I'll eat my Wheaties and drink my non-sequiturs just like every one else.
Thank you for all the hard work over the past year, Zelderex! If you haven't already, could you double-check to see that all the wins are properly recorded in the Submission Thread OP and that there are no outstanding trophies before you hand the reigns off?

Voted for the two poems whose imagery I liked the most. Blippy's was especially interesting in the way he was assigning qualities to natural elements.
I did it once before, I can do it again.
