There are hundreds of random legendary's in the game of Magic the Gathering, all I want you to do is to choose one. Based on the card, and its flavor, write a tale of one whose story has been ignored.
In other words, go find a Legendary card. Any set. Enchantment, Creature, Artifact, you name it. Try your best to find one that doesn't have a distinct background already. And then write the background. Kamigawa'd be a great choice for this, but I know there's a lot of other cards out there.
The Rules of the SSC
1. Submit your story as a thread in the Personal Writing forum. Please precede the name with the tag [SSC XXVIII] so we can identify it.
2. Link to your story in this thread so we know it's a submission.
3. Include an "If I Win" prompt at the end of your submission so we can start the next month's contest immediately if you are chosen as the winner.
4. Your submission must be in by 11:59 cst on March 31st, 2012. There will be no extensions.
5. Stories must not be more than 10,000 words.
6. You must judge the next month's contest if we use your prompt. Be aware of this. This also means you cannot your own contest. You may secure the help of other judges if you so choose.
7. You must critique at least one other submission to be eligible to win. Help us all get better.
Anyone who joins this might want to be careful that they don't accidentally pick one of the characters in the vignettes. Still leaves tons to pick from.
So, can I alter my win-con when I think of something a little more creative? I honestly thought there'd be almost no chance I'd get this one, by default or otherwise.
