I got this idea from reading Count of Monte Cristo.
A war is going on between six nations and a young commander who is also the prince of one of the nations is betrayed by some soldiers from nations allied to his own and left for dead. However, it is not told which nations they are from.
Several years later (13 maybe), the prince kills one of the other princes. (there is one for each nation). You also do not know who he kills. He then disguises himself as that prince in order to have his revenge. The war is over by this time and the six nations are going to join into one. Once this happens, one ruler will be chosen and thus, every prince is trying to get the others out of his way. Throughout the story, each one has several plans to kill the others, but you don't know who is motivated by greed and who is by revenge. Of course, it's revealed in the end.
I think that I have not explained my idea too well, but hopefully people will understand it.

I don't think I'm going to try [dreamblade], since my girlfriend and Magic are expensive hobbies already-oxymoron

I would love to see a Pagan movement claiming "Organized religion is poisoning our youth! Let's ban the Pope!"

Well, from my point of view, anything can be made into a good story, provided one can write good enough. So, if you are interested in trying it out, I would urge you to maybe write down a few pages and then let others read to see what they think of it. You generally can gauge whether it's an interesting enough story to catch people's attention from that.
