I'm 28. Just recently started college. Bought a house at 24, lost it at 26 with the economy crash along with my car and my girlfriend (I ran her off with my depression/anger/drug use). Did a lot of things I regret, and a lot of things that I'd never change. I want to signify what I've been through and what formed my beliefs but I'm extremely low on money. Spending every dime on my bills and school (and a tiny bit on magic...). I'm supposed to be getting a $1300 refund of grant money in the next month or so that I'm going to use to sign up for my next set of classes and pay for the books. But I want to get a tattoo as well. I know I can have the artist draw it, but that costs money. Maybe someone here can?
I'm looking for a "dna tree" like this;
except instead of a tree, I want it to be a mushroom;
And I want the mushroom cap to be the Aenima Eye from tool;
At the assumed ground level, perhaps lounging under the shade of the mushroom, I would like to have the Alice in Wonderland Caterpillar similiar to this;
Except instead of smoking out of a hookah I want him to be leaning on the Cross of Confusion and specifically this version;
I'm not sure what I would prefer more but if you have the urge... the whole mushroom could be a mushroom cloud instead with smoke billowing around the eye at the top, swirling down the shaft to represent a dna symbol, and the caterpillar, appearing to be exhaling towards the ground or point of impact as it were.
Most of all I'd like it to NOT look cartoonish but as detailed and real as possible. I'm looking at this being a fairly large back piece. I've always been sort of a jump right in the deep end kind of fellow.
I realise how huge this favor is but I have very little I can offer as compensation. It's probably going to be full color unless it's just so amazingly detailed where the fine black lines would do it more justice. Please feel free to tweak it and be creative. The dna, mushroom, and eye are the only things I'm dead set on.
Darn dude you got a lot of wants for this thing, If I still had photo shop which I want to have again, i could likely just throw it together for you, but since I don't I'll start drawing making something for you, on two condition, you don't care when it gets done, and it doesn't have to be colored. I haven't drawn in well almost two years, and this seems like an awesome really though out idea, I'd love to be apart of it, but I won't be talking any lip because it's free. Desired changes, and suggestions are welcome, back talk, and I walk. I don't know how long it will take to make it, but I'll get started, and post when I get to it k
Ok I've got a pretty nice piece so far, i'm going to get the sample up soon, I just have to work on it. For compensation because I'm really enjoying making this could be anything from twenty bucks, to simply a few rares you don't think you'll ever use in magic mailed to me. I started this with no plan for being paid, in any sense, and to that end if you don't then you don't but those are just some ideas for it. I like the passion and though you put into this, and well I enjoy creating. In the end if you wear my art on your back then, just tell people, and maybe I'll create more awesome things people have me make for them you know. But regardless of how awesome my art is, I'm not a tattoo artist, my cousin has some know how on that (considering she has many a tattoo, I have none as of yet, but I hope to get some in the future.) I'll talk to her see what she thinks, such and such, But in the end it's your body and you should listen to the tattoo artist, cause what he does will be a permanent thing. I'd hate to be even if indirectly the cause of regret for the rest of your life you know.
Wow it took me maybe three hours to draw this, considering it's my first none doodle drawing in a year or two since I've left high school, and not drawn, of scratch that I've got a banana, and something else a pencil tip, but those aren't nearly as detail and awesome as this. I loved drawing it, and I know times are ruff so I only want any mention of payment if and onyl if you can afford it, and i'll leave that entirely up to you. I'll be posting the pic in maybe six hours. I don't dare try it with my dial up connection, I know it sucks, but alas that's what I've got, it's that or 80 dollar satellite, which isn't ideal either So I hope this finds you before you got any ink done, because personally I'd be honored to be able to say someone somewhere is wearing my art forever. I'm glad to have help out even a bit. my suggestion since you want it colored take my image, along with the rest, and have the artist match add colors and such as desired, that's all I can say. My cousin would likly tell you to more or less get it in black and white, just because I guess that ages much better, but talk to your tattoo artist before you get anything done. I haven't got anything done, myself, but that's because of time, and just simply a desire to have the perfect piece forever on me. I plan on only ever getting one tattoo done, and it will be the embodiment of me, until I find it. I shall remain unmarked. I'm planning on opening an art thread for myself the photo will be in there, along with your name as of the site, and such not your real name unless of course you don't mind. Peace, love and awesome.
Yeah, I'd love to see it. And honestly, hand drawn was sort of what I was after anyway. Photoshop can do some amazing work but the tattoo artist has to be able to recreate it on my back so...
I messaged you back whenever you get on, I'd prefer to keep the private conversation private though.
i am now interested in seeing this tat. And if it proves to be awesome, maybe i can get a drawing for my future first tat as well.

I have the ability to draw, and paint and make art, sometimes I just don't have the really passion, so help me, and I'll give you art, maybe not good art, vut art none the less check out my art, looked up non magic art The Fox, Unleashed, i'll be posting everything there too, including eventually all my art pics of this.
Fox, if you'd like to attempt a drawing for me I've got another drawing my brother did that i'd like to see if you could improve upon it.
The "goal" is a Celtic cross, with vines growing over it, to signify my mother's passing. (she was a fan of Scotland, and Celtic imagery, so it's the base.) The vines are to represent it's a past event (3 years ago this thanksgiving)

That's awesome man. I love how you were able to blend the dna spiral together at the top and bottom. I was having a really hard time seeing it in my head. The detail in the iris of the eye is pretty really great too. I figured it would be hard to show the different patterns in pencil but you did a great job. I was sort of looking for something a little darker in tone but this gives me a great jump off point. Maybe I'll just drop the caterpillar, seeing it all together makes me think it shouldn't be there or should be something else. I can't thank you enough!
Ok I'm really glad you like it, and sometimes seeing things from another persons perspective is really good, especially when that person shares that passion, and honestly cares. I do, I really, really do. Why you ask, because we are family, not in blood, not even in location, but there's one thing we share that we can all improve upon if simple we care...You know what that is, no idea I bet, good I'm not going to tell you, because I feel with every once of my body that we are family. I want you to now tell me how that could be....That is how you can pay me back for this piece of art. Not in money, I have what I need, not in cards, even though anything you'd give me could help....Many a thing in my life is changin, because I'm making it so, and I need help to make my dreams a reality. I feel that regardless of if you help me or not that they will happen at this point, because I've changed. I'm becoming a great and powerful speaker, and person, and my passions will be share, but in sharing mine I get to know people in my family.
Now let me tell you how and why we are family it's simple it really really is. It might just surprise you, and let us talk about it. We are all in so many ways children of, if nothing else the earth. I don't care, who you are, what you've done, what you believe really, but I'd like to know what drives you, so that I can help you. If for no other reason than I have time, and I love making, and writing and creating with people. I'm writing a book on this it's more or less a bibliography of my hard, hard child hood, and 'm not going to say I've had the hardest one out there, but It wasn't easy. That's why I want nothing more right now than to live, and enjoy my life, by helping others.
This is so powerful, and my art is, because I'm so passionate about it that how couldn't I change the world, I hope if nothing else that I help people love peace, and awesome. That's my sign LPA at the bottom of this piece of art, you can't see it, but maybe someday I'll be able to buy a high def scanner, and do this to live, if not then when I have time I'm going to do it if for no other reason than I have the ability, and the want to make art, but I lack the passion, so I started a art thread, Look at it see my passions revel in them, because I want to create joy, and get to know everyone of my family, if only in passing.
Honestly family is a strong word. I believe generosity and compassion can be a great thing if its not overlooked or taken advantage of.
We all have personal demons. I'm glad your finding a way to work through yours. Art is a great way to cope. Almost like meditation. I read several of your poems in the other thread. Seems like you've been doing that for years. Sometimes just getting stuff down on paper makes it easier to deal with. I'm sorry about your brother. The internet in general is not a great place to foster new friendships. Even when they're real and strong, they're long distance and easily disrupted. You ought to see if there is an open mic night locally that does spoken word/poetry. Even if you just go and watch others. It might inspire you, it might introduce you to like minded people, or it might even give you an outlet for your art. I've found those places to usually be pretty accepting as long as no one makes it a competition or a pitty party. They also love real people with real issues that are open and honest which you seem to be.
You should check out pawn shops for scanners. I bought a 36 inch flat screen tv two years a go for $240 that still works great. The speakers crackle if there is a lot of deep sounds/explosions coming through them but a cheap walmart stereo system fixed that. I'm sure you could find a pretty good scanner for under $50.
here be the start of my drawing for you, I actually imagined it for my brother and my self he was a tree climber, and well I wasn't so...I'm the vine, and he's the tall tree...any suggestions?
looks good so far, but i'd much rather judge based on further detail.

I'm sorry I've just reasonably gotten out of the hospital twice in the last week so, I did work a bit more on the piece, but I'm not done with it, and well I'm trying to feel better right now. I hope that's ok.

You need to take Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
