I'm currently replaying Okami, so Clemency got the vote first. His entry also has nice colors and curves. I'd gladly put a banner like this in my sig.
Zaph got the vote because his source image is pretty hard to fit in a 450x150 banner, but he made it (though it does look kinda weird).
The last vote was the hardest to give. I picked Arc-logger partially because I'm fond of Gunslinger Girl, but also because it is cut out nicely (though the glitch or something with the white background which makes it actually rectangular spoils it a bit).
HMs go to Unkle-J, Le_Gambit (have you really used only one image? Wow), Otakingu (awesome brushwork, as usual) and Singer of White Ling (his banner and username are too similar to mine to be left unmentioned ~__~).
Kinda disappointed with Spiderboy's entry - come on, even I could've done that. Wait, that actually means I'm as awesome as Spidey, cool.

I believe that he just doesn't know how to do a transparency. Le_Gambit had said in the contest thread that was fine and he would make them transparent but since he wasn't here it didn't get done.
HMs go to Unkle-J
Thank you.

I have to admit that when I first read your post then looked back I thought it was someone named 'Ling'. Now I feel stupid.

I have to agree here. Since it was Spideys entry and we all expect so much from him it felt phoned in this week. (maybe he's been really busy in the shop?) However, I've always been one to say that a good/great banner does not have to have tons of layers and brushwork and I actually quite like the simplicity of this one. However I hate pokemon so it didn't get my vote for that reason also.
The only thing that bothers me about it is the number of votes, do that many people really like pikachu?
My votes were for Zaph, Mr. Stuff, and Spongy Penguin. I thought Zaph's layout and use of a single picture really spoke true to the theme. Stuff's is just beautiful to look at. Spongy Penguin has some great brushwork (as well as Stuff's) and I suck at brushwork so I'm always intrigued by a job well done.
Honerable mentions for me are;
@Resistance3.0, SO hard to decide between yours and Mr.Stuff's. I was staring between them for quite awhile and what it came down to was just that and only that. His was just more fun/pleasant to look at alot. Very good job!
@Le_Gambit, I always love your transparencys. This one however was just a bit to pixelated for me. Also, Very good job!
@Clemency, very nice banner. In the end though it was just a little to square for the theme.
@Singer of White Ling, You are SUCH a better banner maker than Singer of White Line! I mean that guy's horrible! <----- sarcasm btw. Big time sarcasm. Very nice banner Singer.
I sent a PM to singer, but I guess I can elaborate here. I'm not sure if I was cutting it close, I might have had plans and wanted something in, but the truth is = Pikachu was my choice.
In a weekly contest, you sometimes have to pick content that will pull more votes. I did this with a halo theme a little while back, I wasn't trying to do it here. I did edit the image to rotate the tail and applied a little bit of effect on pikachu. Its simple and clean.
I like it and I'm glad others like it too. (Sheesh, do you guys really expect me to have greatness every time ... soo much pressure :(:))
EDIT — I just realized that all three of the current leaders are from HighLight Studios... Woot!
This week's theme was a non-rectangular banner using a single piece of artwork (of the artist's choice).
Winner of the Weekly Signature & Avatar Contest Weeks 51, 59, 78, & 118.
I don't care if I was framed for murder if I only got a warning I would let it go.
My votes go to Arc-logger, Clemency and Zaph.

I will give you that. It's been awhile since I've seen this many entries.

Thundershock Ftw!
Sasky for the Sig.
I am in your [PACK]. Watching you... do... something.
I do like Pokemon, and my 9 year old daughter, who collects Pokemon cards, did squeal when she saw it, but that wasn't the main reason I chose it
