And that is why you do not want for someone if they make it animated. I am leaving it open and will not disqualify anyone. You all have asked for more openess before and here it. In a contest decided only by voting I do not think this is a problem. If you believe that the winning logo should be static then only vote for those that are static. Is this not sound to you? Also I still feel 400kb is fair when some will want to make their's animated. You obviously do not have to use this much, it is just the max. If the majority does however feel that it should be changed out not allow animation that is fine. I am just attempting to clarify where I am coming from.
Also while I had hoped to do this once I cleared it with whomever becomes the new moderator I am going to go ahead and open a suggestion thread for future contests so I can get a more clear picture as what exactly everyone wants to see in this contest.
We understand where you're coming from.
Fact of the matter is - this isn't simply about my opinion that the logo shouldn't be allowed to have animation. It's nothing short of moronic to have the logo be larger in filesize than the rest of the webpage. It makes no sense from any sort of design standpoint what-so-ever.
Sorryguy, can I get permission to change my banner so its a little more friendly in respect to size. All the pics will be the same, it'll just be a little rearranged to look better at a smaller size.
Ya, I just realized that I'm on a widescreen resolution and forgot that most people aren't. I'm planing on making the banner between 800-700 px wide if sorryguy lets me.
Do you seriously not see the difference in colour/contrast/pixel quality between mine and yours? I mean I thought you was just joking about using gifs before, but I'm starting to think you mean it
maybe I should make sure I upload the right one to imagesocket next time
Its the middle one, the two gifs looks grainier and duller. They also don't look antialiased.
correct, however they're all .png and the middle and last ones have absolutely no difference between them at all! seriously, check for yourself in whatever you want to use
Okay... Mine follows the rules more than KCW's did last week.
Whereas KCW's entry last week pertained to the topic (Nex), your submission here does not in any pertain to the creation of a logo for this contest. (at least, as far as I can tell)
I am disallowing this entry with the option for you to submit one which at the very least ties into the theme for this week for the time being. Of course, you are entirely free to convince me via Private Message that your current submission does fit this week's theme, and should you manage to do so, I'll allow it.

Erm...don't want to start another argument about this or anything, but how did KCW's entry pertain to Nex?

For this week you will be creating a banner, a la that of Monthly Artwork and Photoshop contests, for the weekly contest. It must have the title The Avatar and Signature Weekly Contest in it, but the rest is up to you. You get to decide the size, animation or unanimation, as well as magic or non-magic artwork. As always cite non-magic art.

According to the first post, it fits the theme perfectly.
And I prefer to keep the discussion here, thank you.

It breaks the page on my monitor. If by break the page you mean gives me a horizontal scrolling bar in my Firefox window.
edit: I was thinking about something like 700 wide and maybe 200-300 high. Kind of like an extendo-sig banner. Maybe that's just me though
To be entirely safe, you'd have to stay under 640x480.

It breaks the page in yours? What size is montier, and is it widescreen or not? I'd like to get rid of scrolling bars when it shows up.
Bored? Watch this.
It fits on my screen fine. It seems quite large and draws focus, but that's what it is supposed to do, right?
Also, it's a Banner + Avatar length together

I'm seriosuly nerd raging about these filesizes, I mean come on
Will work on mine when my PC is fixed.

Albiet somewhat encouraging the bad actions performed here lately it is still quite humorous. I think you may be got for censor evasion though
