Here's my entry. It had more broken cards in it, like some cards starting with "Yawgmoth" and Tolarian Academy, but less is more.
By the way, please don't spam me about Urza's Armor not being broken. I know it's not, but I wanted Urza on the banner. Lol.
Mine only has one card art, yet no one complained about it... (maybe because it sucks and isn't competition anyhow)
I'm with you on this one, mine seems more aligned to 'favorite-combo/deck' banner than favorite block banner, but there's just something about Blurrycloud's that makes me wonder if he even shopped that banner for this contest.
Getting the idea of "block banner" across was kind of strange for me, when I think of my favorite block (odyssey), the first two things that come to my mind are:
1) Wild Mongrel pwnz (but his art is booooring.)
2) Psychatog-Upheaval broke the block.
I'd imagine if Urza's was my favorite block, I'd make something about everything being broken, since that is the first thing that comes to my mind when thinking of that block. Perhaps Goblin Sharpshooter is the first thing that comes to Blurrycloud's mind when thinking of Onslaught and thus it represents the block in his mind (pff, how can you not think of morphing a blistering firecat or exalted angel!)
Honestly, I think both Watza's banner and blurrycloud's banner are pushing the limits on this. I think it would fit better if blurrycloud changed "Goblin Sharpshooter" to "Onslaught" to symblolize the block, not the card, but otherwise I have nothing wrong with it.
The one banner that I really think doesn't fit the theme at all is Xyre's. Last I checked, 7th was a core set and core sets were not even part of a block and therefore do not fit into this theme at all. That is, however, where I would draw the line. As far as I am conserned, Xyre's banner is the only one that I think really needs changing/does not fit.
Lastly, @Charlie: I think you should either officially give control over to De Banaan, or you should not be allowed to enter this week. That's just me though.
There's no reason CD shouldn't be allowed to enter. In Week 25, both DB (named because he started the thread) and Fogatog (because he came up with the idea) gave entries and no-one blinked twice. Freuerdrache abstained from Week 31 of his own accord; there is no rule anywhere saying the starter of the week thread or moderator of the contest or inventer of the contest theme cannot enter their work.
It doesn't give you that much of an advantage if you posted the topic. You still have to make a banner like the rest, and knowledge beforehand doesn't exactly aid in one's shopping skills. You have a little more time to come up with an idea, but that's all really.
