I wouldn't get discouraged, microstar22! I actually quite like that last alter, aside from the obvious messiness (but that'll go away with practice). I'd say keep at it, just experiment with it every now and then. Unless it really is mostly just a time issue, in which case that's too bad!
And demonium71, I wanna join the crowd saying that that Mulldrifter is just absolutely fantastic.
As for myself, I've been wanting to do this for quite a while:
A friend let me alter a Mana Leak yesterday. Much to my surprise, I found it very soothing and relaxing. As a Taoist, I'm always on the lookout for new meditative hobbies, so on a lark I snatched a Gideon out of my Caw-Blade deck and decided to try my first alter.
There's a running gag in my playgroup-- whenever Jura uses his +2, we usually announce it by growling in our best Christian Bale voices "Swear to me!", which apparently is some line from one of the Nolan Batman movies or something. The Dark Knight seemed appropriate regardless, given Jura's abilities and general attitude.
My goals are ensuring a smooth, even coat next time, and maybe experimenting with more color blending (although re-painting the background after erasing the original Jura was a pain in the... ).
Any comments or tips from your more experienced folks would be much appreciated!

Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
I love the style and the artwork is incredibly clean. You've done a fantasic job matching art and card. It really looks like this card was printed this way (and it would be way better looking if it had been).
Mulldrifter is beautiful.
Capsize is the best alter i've seen from you, and thats saying a lot as you are one of my favorite artists on this forum.
This is my first alter, and I really like the way it turned out, the scanner does it no credit however.
let me know what you guys think!
and im sorry if the spoiler tag doesnt work, this is my first post on these forums, and i dont know how to do it lol
I am having problems blending black from the bottom up into the color. I am guessing that airbrush is the way to go but does someone have any suggestions until I get one?
It's all about thickness of paint and skill of matching colors.
I've never touched an airbrush, and I can blend colors just fine.
Keep practicing! Honestly, it doesn't look to bad.
The part that draws my eye is the orange on the left is so yellow. It doesn't match as well as the orange on the right.
