hey TFHM, what an honor to see your praise, thank you. i actually want to bid your HULK, but i think it will go too expensive for me, haha. I'm trying to do some other alters with the help of my teammates, i will show some pieces in the thread later.
@Dakes
Meddling Mage looks very clean, but the lack of a lower body makes it look like it's missing something. Maybe you can do a dark gradient at the bottom.
That Windswept Heaths looks very tight; I really like the little trees in the background.
@Penneffer
Those alters are very clean, but I think there isn't much you can do for those cards. They are very dark color schemes and themes, so there isn't much color you can put in that won't look a bit out of place.
@ivanpei
Iron Man's face looks a lot smaller than the head and it lacks depth. He has this frowning expression that's unappealing. Also, you should have this guy on it instead.
@Klug
I think that Liliana Vess is a big step down from your usual stuff. The anime version doesn't have any of the atmosphere of the original; a witch who wields dark powers granted from a Faustian deal. This is more like Mahou Shojou Liliana-chan (Something along the lines of Magical Girl Lil' Liliana).
Thanks for the constructive criticism. The rendering isn't perfect, will get better at free hand proportions sketching. Haha, I agree it does look like a classroom photo. Will try more dynamic poses in the future. What I was happy about was that the test was successful and acrylics look fine on oil based paint markers. Will post more results.

Thanks for the critique. As much as I appreciate the praise I get, it's refreshing to read an actual critique. I think whenever you take a really rendered piece like Briclot's original, and make it linear and flat, you're bound to lose some atmosphere. Though, what's my usual stuff? I've done a lot of 'Magical Girls' lately.
"When were you under the impression, that you were under the impression?"
Matt: Jedi are invincible, they can take out anyone.
Me: But if a Jedi were to face Neo in the Matrix, he could turn the Midiclorians into AIDS.
Everyone in car:.....!?!?!?
I am looking for Xx Copies of Angelic Destiny, in all Languages, Foil and Non-Foil as well.
@Klug
You are welcome. By "usual stuff" I mean most of your extensions. It's obviously easier to expand on an established theme just from matching the colors, but for some of your other cards, like the blood on Sarkahn the Mad and the color scheme of the Comedian Fire Imp, stay with the flavor of the card. Also, I looked through your blog and the facial structure of Liliana doesn't reflect your classical education. Oh, and she doesn't have glowy eyes.
@Cardkitty
That Time Reversal looks very exciting, but the uniformity of the stars detracts from the overall impact. The planet/moon in the bottom right corner looks too similar to the planet in the original picture. It makes it visually lopsided.
Fauna Shaman is very elegant. I really like the extension of the blue butterfly-flame. However, the extension of the smoke from the incense jar at the top left corner is excessive and doesn't make much sense. Smoke doesn't behave like that at all, not even magical creature-evoking smoke. Also, the extra tuft of hair is unnecessary. It's clear in the picture that the hair ends within the borders of the original art.
@ItachiM
That Moonlace is nicely executed. If I look closely, I can tell where the original ends and the extension begins, so next time, blend the colors into the original art. I believe that's what yawg07 and Cardkitty do. It makes it so the transition to original to extension is as smooth as possible. Obviously, clean up the borders, but that comes with time and practice. Don't give up, don't be so hard on yourself and don't not use macro (Next time, use the macro setting on your camera; it's the flower icon. It's for taking pictures up close. Either that or turn off your fog machine.)
First time poster, and first attempts at card altering as well.
Decided I wanted to try some and see what I could do...but my wife and her friend decided they wanted to try, and so here are their first attempts (I somehow didnt paint the first night, and was erasing and stuff, so mine are still waiting to be sealed...)
Anyway..I apologize about the scan quality...Think my scanner is dirty or something because it picked some spots that arn't on the cards.
Signet and Drake were done by Lizzie, and the Mountain by Kate.
Any constructive criticism would be most appreciated, all three of us want to improve our abilities, and are excited to do more! (And the cards weren't really picked for importance...just something I had on top while sorting to start on, if your wondering about the card selection).
Card's we're done with mostly acrylics and (maybe) prismacolor, and sealed with a gloss spray finish.

I find it pretty funny that cardkitty's alters are turning into something like LVMH (Louie Vutton, Moet Chandon, Henessy) as in something so desired that it drives counterfeiting. Well hey, they say that imitation is the best kind of flattery. But on the other hand, that would really piss me off if I were cardkitty.
>< I didn't see the link when I was reading your post I was like! Damn I knew it was bad but not as bad as to cause physical sickness! lol

Thanks, I am still having trouble getting used to the amount of small detail I need to put into the alters. I also get too nervous when thinking about working with money cards like Plansewalkers and such that I possibly know I might screw up... Nerves get to you...

I agree. Azusa looked good though.
On the thread subject: I have a dcent looking forest coming up! Hope it turns out as good as I envision it as.
He even took cardkitty's artwork to make some money out of fake cards...
Not much I can do about that, I guess buyer beware!
The auction states:
"THESE ARE AUTHENTIC MAGIC CARDS THAT ARE DIGITALY ALTERED INTO FULL ART BORDERLESS"
If you read the wording carefully there is a good chance the cards are something entirely different, i.e. old foil lands, and that the complete surface of the card has been printed, hence all the foil money cards (Goyfs, etc.)

Looks like those arn't the only ones he's doing...
But they are almost assuredly blanked foil lands that are printed on, the seller has a "playset" of Library's up with the exact same description text. He only claims they are "authentic magic cards", not the actual listed card.
I just worry that if he circulates to many of these, being that they are fake, that it get something of a bad rep (since they are printed with your signiture pawprint).

On a side note, I LOVE the Time Spiral!!! You do such wonderful work CardKitty.
@Selkie24: WOW! I really REALLY love the Drake and Signet. I'd pay for something like them, personally
Thank you for the praise! I'll be sure to pass it on to the artist (if she's not already lurking around here an has seen it).
She really enjoys painting the cards, and has a few more ready to get sealed before scanning...and I think her work is just getting better with each card.
It is an actual mtg card and hence has all of the exact dimensions and every other card. This is a real foil magic card that was digitaly altered into a Gideon Jura that is borderless and has been beautifully altered into a full art card!!!!
Yeah, they're probably fake. Notice how they are "a real M:tG card altered into...".
