I've only done the one so far and I just used whatever I had laying around, Krylon spray adhesive. Worked fine, got a little bit messy if you overspray.
How did you avoid spraying the whole cardface?
EDIT: BTW, I'm aware of the guide for this, but it doesn't provide much info in the actual "how-to" section
For my 3d i just used some basic superglue i got from the local 99 cent store and it works fine. Most things can be done with basic stuff you can find around the house with the same results. I cut everything out with an exactoknife i bought from michaels on sale for $5

First tournament top 8 11/4/12 at the SCG IQ in Santa Cruz!
I did spray the whole surface, which is the point. lol. Then I picked the card up by the sides and put it on the next card and made sure they were in alignment and pushed together nice and hard. Then the next card, and the next. Then there is not just a line of glue in between each card but the whole surface of glue holding it onto the next card. I used superglue to keep the bars in place and strong but I guess if you have the money to blow on lots of super glue you could use it for gluing the layers together.
On another note, Xmas theme sounds very fun!

So much time, energy, love, and money for.. cardboard. It's a love-hate relationship.
This is my very firstest attempt to alter a card:
I drew an outline using a pen that i use for drawings but it showed up, won't do that again.
I am using acrylic paints, and i have never tried to use them before, so i think i did okay edit It's domo jesus tutor o.o, i didnt know what to do lolz
I love this theme:
1. Lots of flexibility - you can go from just copying a famous painting onto a card which fits (The Gross Clinic on Dark Ritual) to picking a famous painting and changing it to fit a card (recent set of Terminates) to picking the style of a painting and using it for a card (The Vitruvian Man has a lot of possibilities).
2. The results are always interesting - look at V's Mucha Bloodbraid Elf, the recent set of Terminates, Kajko's land, and anything else which was based on classic art. They all stand out.
I have no aristic talent, so my vote isn't worth much. My vote's only value is me bid bid bidding on cards from this theme which end up on the popular auction site.
@Bigup :PnP suggestion.
Well, i quite like the idea of using a famous painting (from any period) and associating it with a card.
(Van Gogh, Monet, Dürer,...) like we've seen recently on your and 1kajko's alters.
It doesn't meen difficult, as you can take any reference from before JC, to modern art... So you could choose to do a Leonardo da Vinci, a Raphael or a Mondrian...
All other suggestions and opinions are welcome (and needed!)
Finally got some of my other pieces scanned. Definitely not going to be using the scanner ever again as it totally decimates any semblance of colour matching. All the guys at my shop are totally blown away by the matching I did on thrax, yet it shows up the worst on the scanner. Anyway, comment please and enjoy!
I sent PnPs for both today. I really like the way the famous painting one turned out (except for being too impatient on the border). Is it bad luck or tacky to post it now or should I wait?
Never mind! I posted them on a couple of other sites to get the itch of seeing them somewhere out of my system.
I'm hoping to get into making 3-D cards. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good adhesive to use? Please don't make suggestions without experience, I don't need to be told to "just use glue" >_<
I've made a few, including one with Shivan Dragon and one with Villainous Ogre. I've found that just using Elmer's White Glue is fine. I apply a very thin layer of glue with a toothpick and keep the cards flat by putting them under weight (usually with dictionaries) while they dry.
So I made my first stab at altered art. I am not very spectacular at altering cards, but the art is something I am proud of. It is a very simple "Sharpied" version of the Mind's Eye card however I have modified it so that the card is much more highlighted than is normal. Main reason I did this was to show my "appreciation" to Edward Beard Jr. for all that he has done for the MTGsalvation community

Im sorry not a slag on the alter or anything but this has got to stop there is absloutely no point at all in trying to aggravate or instigate Mr. Beard as it does nothing to serve the community at all an may in fact hinder it.
I've been waiting to see some good Cthulu alters, but this is amazing! I would like to see the ship doing a little more crashing/overturning but other than that, it's stunning.

Sorry, but what exactly did he do to the MTGS community?
personally, I only look at the artist credit after I sit down to alter so it's mostly coincidence on my part. that and the fact that I've all but given up on altering.
well in all honesty, I didn't really alter his art that significantly. I just put some sharpie marks over some of the image. So it really can't be said to be that huge of an Alter. I would be willing to take it down if it turns out that it ends up aggravating Ed Beard some more, but I don't see how it could since I didn't really significantly alter his art, nor did I remove his name from the credits
Plus, it wasn't really HIS art that was causing the problem initially... it was ALL altered art that he was raging against, not just those altered arts that were done to his works.
In reality, I ultimately thought that the fact that the work was done by Ed Beard was inconsquential to the fact that it was my first alter. I wanted some advice on how to make the work better, and some input on how it looked. So really, thanks for the lack of support for a new artist guys
P.S. just so happens that Mind's Eye is my favorite Ed Beard Jr. Work of Art. Just because I hate the Artist, doesn't mean I hate the Art.

You didn't end up with deep layers of glue between cards?

That is a very interesting way to do the layers. Very creative. I like it!
