My new CMDR
AMC's Breaking Bad: Walter White played by Bryan Cranston
This might be the greatest thing since sliced bread; very awesome alter.
Since I've just started getting into alters I have a question for you more established painters. For the sections of a card you don't intend to really modify, do you take any steps to keep it from having a glaringly different (i.e. un-painted) appearance/texture?
Sonic, from Sonic the Hedgehog video games

M Tutor, original by D. O'Connor
Mishra's Factory, original by K. and P. Foglio
Played around a bit this week with my first alters and this is what we ended up with...trying to decide what I'm going to do for the Holiday Exchange.
Really appreciate and look forward to any thoughts, critiques, ideas, etc.
First alter, Flames of the Firebrand
Took this before I actually edged out the text boxes but you can tell I was having some issue getting the color matches right
Time to Feed
A buddy's kid started getting into MtG a little so I used it as an excuse to do something for him.
Clan Defiance
Not much to say on this one; probably the one I'm most pleased with thus far.
Tonight's project is an Invader Zim inspired Doom Blade with the lovable Gir. I have a bit of clean-up to do and deciding what of the Doom Song I want to scribble in the background...
Hey guys! So glad to have this forum... I am really new to card altering and only started to work on a few pieces. Been enjoying the process and looking at the artwork that you guys have been sharing inspires me! Here's sharing two of well..not-so-awful ones. teehee.

You have to provide proper references while working with other people's intellectual property. Also, please, use spoiler tags for the images. Image removed, warning issued. -BBull
These are the best alters I've seen in some time. Execution is very good. The actual paintings are dark and sad. I can only look at that Blood Pet for song long. Very good alters and paintings.
Upper left, reference Kirby on a warp star from Kirby's Dream Land (SNES)
Upper right, reference Patrick from the SpongeBob TV series
Lower left, reference the angry sun from the pyramid level on Super Mario Bros. 3, world 2
Lower left, reference the star from Super Mario 64
Upper left, reference M. C. Escher New Year's greeting card 1949 woodcut
Upper right, reference Owls and Bats tessellation by Optimus Owl, deviantart
Lower left, reference M. C. Escher Development 1 1937 woodcut
Lower right, reference M. C. Escher Fish and Frogs 1949 wood engraving
Upper left, reference the helmet worn by Mega Man
Upper right, reference a hidden leaf headband from the TV series Naruto
Lower left, reference the helmet worn by Samus in Super Metroid
Lower right, reference a Guy Fawkes mask
@ Scarth: I am not Bigup, so I am probably wrong... But it looks like he took the face of a Deeptread Merrow and cut out the text box, image, p/t, and name; then pasted it on a True-Name Nemesis. The DCI logo must be from another card and does make it look quite official.
