I actually really like "borderless" alters that keep the black border. If there's one thing that the somewhat recent discussion about what's allowed in tournaments I hope it's more of this style showing up.
It turned out nice but I can't help thinking how cool the version I commissioned (for this very same blank Disc) would've looked.. *sniffle* I like this one a lot though..i actually have this as a T-shirt.
I'm happy to have gotten the 1x I did get out of this. (not here juuust yet, but soon I hope--will post.)
Just a thought, I don't have the ability to do this or the material. But has anybody done a Swamp with the Legion of Doom lair on it? I think it would be pretty cool
Ok, decided to give it another try. I understand that you guys are serious artists who use acrylics and brushes, but not everyone is making money from this. I decided to extend scoria cat who has a special place in my heart, so here is what it looks like. I don't have a nice camera, this was taken with my phone. One of the obvious failings is the lack of ability to go more gray with the blacks; I am searching for a diffuser to deconcentrate the ink so much. Other than that, it looks good in a sleeve and is obviously gold bordered and not an attempt to produce counterfeit cards and make money.

I have no idea what I am looking at. It's really hard to give honest and thought out critique and suggestions when your pictures are so blurry all we see is blur. Give us clear pictures.
The unaltered scoria cat is on the left, obv, and the altered cat is on the right. Scanning it in made me sad cause it looks crappy now, but it should be clearer. I don't know how to achieve color blending or diffusion well with pens, and I know I went out of the borders on the bottom left.

btw galspanic what is wrong with the golden girls
Those pictures, while exposing the flaws, give us so much more information. Pens are pretty tough to get a good color match with unless you are using high end markers like Copics or even Prismacolor. At that point, you should just buy paint (because it's awesome). Aside from material concerns, I think you might benefit from taping the edges before you go at it. The easiest way to keep edges clean is to never get them dirty. And if you do, try the dm toothpick approach. I've fixed a lot of hopelessly filthy cards by just rubbing the dirt off with a toothpick. You can even get pen off if you are careful.
PS - I have no feelings one way or another towards the Golden Girls TV show. Bea Arthur, when she was in her 20's, was downright doable. But, I digress.... I started with that Avatar 2.5 years ago and slowly they keep dying, so I have just updated my profile every time one dies. Bette White shouldn't kick it any time soon, but Rue McClanahan might since she almost died of a stroke a couple of months ago.

Nice start, I would definatly look into getting some acrylic paints - they blend great and do what pens never will
@poxy14- very cool vampiric tutor. I want one like that! (I guess I will have to make it.. ) Do you have a gallery or something showing all of your work? I would very much like to see. You do really well figuratire drawings, do you do them out of your head or do you use references?
@yawg07- cool Bob's, the original art is so bad I'm glad you changed it instead of just extending the original!
Here's a couple of my new ones:
Terminate (censored version) thanks to bigups for the inspiration! (I changed it up a bit)

Yeah, I showed my mom and she was like hmmmm....maybe you should try paints next time. lol even mom knows. By dirty edges, do you mean the inside border or the frame? If you mean the frame, they're dirty because I've had those cards for a decade and I didn't play with sleeves in high school. If you mean inside the red border, yes. I probably should have thought of that, but I'm mostly doing this while waiting for audio work to pick up; visual art is a little lower on my talent scale.
Also: on your black and white Inkwell Leviathans, what medium did you use?
I'D love to come to GenCon if it wasn't for the barrier of Dihydrogen Monoxide.
Such a hassle from Australia to US of A.
I think you are mean Hydrogen Oxide.
Dihydrogen Monoxide would look like this: H-H-O.
While Hydrogen Oxide, also known as water, looks like this: H-O-H.
You are right about what the suffixes mean. But water is composed of two ions, H+ and OH-. The name comes from how the ions of the compound bond together. So we have Hydrogen (H+) and Oxide (OH-) forming Hydrogen Oxide.
At the same time, you are right too because that can refer to water. But water is hydrogen bonded to oxygen bonded to hydrogen (H-O-H or HOH). The way you said it can refer to hydrggen bonded to hydrogen bonded to oxygen (H-H-O or HHO).
This is just useless information unless you are a science major in college though... which is the ONLY reason I know lol.
@ sandreline: Your space-scape is beautiful. The stardust(?) coming from the angel just makes it sublime. Did you paint all of them with the tip of a paintbrush?
Spujika is correct. It's Dihydrogen Monoxide. If we followed Sensei's logic, Carbon Dioxide would have to be Oxygen Carbonite or some such instead. I also have a wikipedia link for Properties of Water. Look at right under other names and you find Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Here's a Jace I finished up today (my second attempt at an extended art), and I'd like to get some criticism. Really, tear it up, I need to improve.
Thanks in advance for your advice. I'd really like to get some advice from the big dogs here, but that might be asking too much.
