Wow, a lot of these are really awesome, besides an eraser what else do you guys use to remove the picture? Also, what do you guys use to draw and color in the cards?
I am testing this on a Revised Forest...all I have are little erasers from mechanical pencils. I don't suggest doing that. I am on eraser #3 already and not finished. Not even close. I have one little crappy line.
EDIT:This is very annoying. Are there any secrets to erasing the picture faster? I found a big happy face eraser that was in a drawer in my house. It doesn't erase fast enough and I am pressing down super hard, and everything...

There really isnt any secret to erasing. Its the worst and most tedious part of the process. I go through 3 erasers or so by the time I'm done one card.
And to answer your question with what do you color it with, I use pens, pencils, markers, and sometimes paint (although I'm really sloppy with the paint).
The more you do the better you get I have found. The one 4 posts above is only my third one (and the one I've put the most effort into of course) and I think it turned out pretty good.
I used a Gum eraser that I used to use at school. It erases pretty quickly I think. I think it cost me like 1.50 at the over priced book store. Its white, not pink like most of them.
They are pretty nice. I really don't see why they had to make the tail that long, but whatever floats your boat. I'm working on a new brainstorm that has a different color background since I cannot seem to match the colors perfectly.
If I had the time and energy I would probably try doing that (with a worthless, but playable card :P). Unfortunately, I have too many other things to do right now.
Another variation on the Brainstorm. I think I'm gonna go for a playset of Brainstorms with different starwars characters (although I'm pretty bad at illustrating actual human-like characters).
hulkster, what do you use to do your artwork? In particular, the Mario turned out quite well and I wanted to know what you used for it? My biggest curiosity is what do you use on cards that you DON'T do any form of erasing on?
In addition, I'm still searching for a way to convert my drawing style over to cards. I'm not a colorer by any stretch of the imagination. I can't paint, but I am mediocre at drawing.
Anyone who has suggestions to offer on non-erasing custom art creation, I would be most pleased to know more.
I would be under the impression that the Teeg would fetch less, since it's not a staple and took less work to do. Then again, there are many more Birds of Paradise available than there are Teegs.:-/
@the real hulkster: Those alterations are really impressive. I agree with PBG that the Mario came out really well, and I also especially like the alterations you did on the unhinged Islands.
@PBG: I have this odd feeling that the price those modified cards would get would be more dependent on the price of the unmodified card than the work required for the art. I happen to believe that it should be heavily dependent on the quality and difficulty of the artwork as when you buy one of those you're more buying art than you are a Magic card, but that doesn't change the fact that people will be willing to pay far more for valuable cards than for less valuable cards even if the art is more impressive on the otherwise less valuable ones.
@Mephiston: That Regrowth looks beautiful. Honestly, the way the text box is done and the quality of the art make that one of my favorite modifications posted so far. The colors aren't quite as vivid as they are on the new cards, but that's more a because of the originally printed art (both the art itself and the manner in which it was printed) than the modifications.
@Master of the Arts: I think I've seen that page before, but it's still nice to look through and see some of those modifications again. I've always thought Ron Spencer does some of the most amazing art alteration work and that page you linked is just a testament to that.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.

Thanks Zaphod of High~Light Studios for my sweet SIG!
I have found my inspiration to try this.
Those are AMAZING!!!

Anyway, thanks for posting, those are awesome.

I don't care if I was framed for murder if I only got a warning I would let it go.
I also see some of them were done on foil cards, did that make it easier or harder to draw on?

That Birds went for over $100 on eBay a couple weeks ago. I have to wonder what the Gaddock Teeg would fetch...

And I was the one who PDog Crusader beat for the BoP auction-damn you!;)
Seriously, that guy does awesome work, but I was extremely impressed with Gaddock Teeg as well.
