Kriggy if he is erasing maybe I can add some light to how he gets such a nice circle or at least I can tell you haw I have done the same in the past.
Its quite simple really you just mask off the area you dont want to erase and erase the rest. What makes this hard is that most materials you would use for masking wont hold up to even light let alone vigorious erasing. Personally I have found blank labels (like the ones made by avery although I use non name brand) they are great as they are easy to cut out shapes from (unlike most tapes which have too much of a grain) holds up well to the erasing although you do have to go a bit lighter in pressure around the borders. The biggest problem with it is that you have to peel it very carefully especially around the edges and corners of your card as it can cause the laminate layers of the card to seperate (ie cause the face to peel off your card).
humm ..maybe this has been asked alot of times but...
Are this altered cards usually accepted as playable in official tournaments?? All of them? Jut some with minor changes?? Can someone clear me on this.
(the cool ball lightning that thefourhorsemen posted seems like very passable in a tournament ..but dunno if the judges push issues)

I find that scotch tape works quite well as long as you erasy parallel to the tape.

And I highly recommend NOT using Scotch tape. You have to be very careful with it and if you have it on the edges, it will tear them up pretty bad. Blue Painters tape works really well for most everything and then there is my favorite: Airbrush masking Film. That stuff is a little soft sometimes, but give you amazing control.
humm ..there probably some ppl with experience in that... What's the most common reaction to the resquest of using this cards by head judges? And seeing it's the head judge decision it means there nothing on the DCI rules that outright forbids this i supose.
It is in the first post and this article gets posted every few days too.
The only issue is if a person can tell which cards are which in a sleeved deck. I made some basic lands a few weeks back that warped pretty bad because I used a lot of water in the paint and if you hold the deck loosely in your hand, you can see exactly where the 3 cards are. Those are probably not legal. The others, however, are smooth, flat, and mesh perfectly with the other cards.
hey guys, i actually use scotch tape with excellent results, it is removable scotch tape mind, but if you wnat a good example of how good it works then see my x-23 royal assassin alter, the entire white background was just from taping and erasing.
regarding how did i get such a round area, well i didnt, it was just using the erasing and roughly erases what i would need, then the lightning around electrode was painted by moi!
p.s i only ever use acrylics,
AH... Removable Scotch Tape makes sense. The normal stuff is too harsh and destroyed a few cards and I swore it off.

My girlfriend does alters for my entire team (full art, extended borders, minor alterations etc.) and our policy is to always ask the head judge at any tourney we go to. So far we've been able to use extended border/minor alteration cards at ptq portland, ptq seattle, and GP Tacoma to name a few big tourneys.
However, we recently went to a local memorial tournament (130+ people with a black lotus, mox saphire, and many other high dollar cards/prizes up for grabs) and the judges announced that the tourney wouldn't be judged as harshly as a normal tournament. Consequently we didn't approach the judges (many of whom had seen my gf's work before and were fans of it) to ask and make sure the cards were legal. Later on, one of my crew mates made top 8 and went through the customary deck check. We were then informed by the head judge that he had incurred a game loss for marked cards. Needless to say we were pretty pissed since the whole team had been using the cards the whole day and none of the judges had made a remark about them. (I even got deckchecked in the third round, with altered cards in my deck, and had no problems arise). He ended up winning that match and placing fourth anyways (for 4 judge vindicates, 4 judge windswept heaths, 1 judge bloodstained mire, 1 judge DT, 1 judge living wish, 1 judge minds desire, and four good condition force of wills) but we were still pretty upset about it.
Come to think of it, the head judge in question I believe looked over the very same cards my friend was using in ptq portland and had no problems with them....
Anyways, to summarize, ask the head judge of any tourney you go to and make sure you always have replacements just in case. It sucks but it's the only way to be safe.

What kind of markers did you use?
I don't mean to be a dick, but it looks very unfinished and washed out. The concept is better by far than original BBE, but the execution just looks incomplete.

My Altered Cards.
I do inexpensive, quality commissions.
PM if interested.
I have actually been informed recently by a number of judges that the guidelines concerning alters has been increasingly relaxed with M10... Basically the current ruling that I know of is that as long as the card is identifiable either by art OR text, and is not blatantly offensive, then it is fine, assuming it is not marked in the sleeve ect. ect.
AH... Removable Scotch Tape makes sense. The normal stuff is too harsh and destroyed a few cards and I swore it off.
Scotch tape might be well suited to mask the card when erasing some parts of the card, but I did not make good experiences with it when painting with acrylics: The paint can easily "bleed" under the tape and will ruin your attempt to get clean borders. I made better experiences with painter's tape.

I actually found the opposite with the tape using both acrylics and spray paint. The painters / masking tape would let the colours bleed under, whereas the removable scotch (Scotch Brand - Purple Label) kept the edges compleetly clean.

Nice exrensions there V excellent job on the colour matching and I really like the added elements like the dripping blood on the assasin's text box and the broken fence/jagged rocks in the foreground of the Garg Castle.
I was working on my BBE when I realized I wasn't sure of the setting, so just so I am sure, Bloodbraid Elf is from Jund right? I assume this due to Krush of the Bloodbraided.

EDIT: And how big are PnP scans supposed to be?
500 pixels by 700 pixels.
BTW, I was serious about the alternate Pirate PnP for Saturday if anyone wants to submit anything...

I was going to say exactly that! Kriggy, your Elf is VERY cute!:p
@ RainbowBrite: Funny, I never noticed the background of Mortify was exactly THAT color!:o And I played that card a lot. Good job on your extension, I love it when they make you notice things you've always ignored about the original art.
