I'm sorry but that's stupid. When you look at the art, you can clearly see it's the female who's manipulating with etherium, not the Gargoyle. Plus, the creature type says "Vedalken Artificer", and of the two beings shown in the picture it's clear which one is the vedalken.
I'm sorry but for some reason I never realised that there was a Vedalken on the card O_O...
On a side note, word of command isn't art. It's a drawing of two slits for eyes basically on a black background. SO terrible.
I hated lorwyn artwork. Bloody tribal crap....at its ugliest. Simply terrible.
Resounding silence isn't that bad of artwork comparatively; maybe if all the games artwork was as good as Ron Spencers, John Avon's, and other great artists then it would be terrible but that isn't the case.
Recycle is pretty bad though. Just awful.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I see a lot of people around here who apparently assume some art for MtG is done in 3D and then worked over with digital tools like Photoshop.
The art for Novablast Wurm is 100% digital painting, there are no 3d rendered elements involved. Yes, some people are good enough to produce a sense of depth that's that good.
I also can't understand how can anyone call any pieces by Komarck crappy or bad. Opinions may differ, but those works are absolutely stunning in therms of technical capability.
Hmm. I admit that I was quite harsh in my judgement. I think that it is better than the digital art from torment, but looking at it again now that I'm not just home from work, I feel that the perspective is what ruins it for me. It feels like I'm looking at a tiny snake guarding something. Probably if I saw one in person it would look good, but on my computer screen it doesn't. Let's say I have a problem with the focus and not the style.
For my money, the worst artist has to be Drew Tucker. He excels at painting watercolors that have no meaning or focus. Look upon his works, and despair: Ashes to Ashes Earthlore Light of Day (as previously mentioned) High Tide Exorcist It looks like someone barfed all over this painting. Perhaps it's an homage to the movie. Night Soil Holy Light This one bothers me most of all, for so many reasons. The card's name is Holy Light, and yet there is no light on the card. It is drab and gray. There is a patch on the left where the gray gets a little less dark, but for some reason Drew doesn't focus on that. Instead, he chooses to focus on some naked guy jacking it in a corner.
