As for Battle Frenzy, that is just brutal. You just have to wonder if Wizards ever thought to just have somebody else do card art after something this strange was handed to them.
Then again, maybe the art is meant to just be abstract.
What is so strange about Battle Frenzy? I don't see it. It is done in a very classic fantasy style, and its just some chick hacking up some ogres. It is certainly not abstract in any way, shape or form...
And I actually like Psionic Entity which he did for Legends... go figure.
His art on his website (http://www.justinhampton.com/) is pretty cool now, though not Magicy at all... I wonder how old he was when he did some of the early stinkers...
I think time walk is classic MTG art, those skeletons are still pretty effective by today's standards. she also made the original ornithopter. but yeah most of her other stuff is pretty awful.

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.

I would definitely agree. Amy Weber's art is really a "hit or miss" situation. I mean, I really like Time Walk's art, but am less of a fan of Celestial Prism.
The skeletons hands and feet were too complicated to draw. So instead, they are either missing (feet) or turned into tiny, misshapen bone mittens (hands).
And spines. They sure have a lot of bones in them too. Let's leave those out as well. I know, I can cover them with.... with.....
What is that brown/orange thing on the skeletons anyway? Is it muscle? or perhaps cloaks? Or maybe it is fur, and they are half decomposed monkeys!
And look, they are standing by rounded traffic cones. Which work so well as sun dial arms, because they aren't flat at all like real sun dial arms.
Clearly things need to look realistic too, so I'll start painting in some flat, black, lifeless shadows. Oh, what's that? It is night time? The way the shadows are pointed, all the objects should be covered in shadow? But they are instead lit like the light is shining directly onto the front of them? Well, I'll just stop adding shadows, right before I add one for this middle skeleton. That one would have been really confusing anyway, since he doesn't have any feet touching the ground.
I could go on... (the mountains don't look far away, the colors are muddy, the characters are lopsided) but the gist of this is that, despite how awesome the card is, the art looks like a beginner painter painted it. It wouldn't have gotten good reviews even in a college painting class.
You all seem to have forgotten the nightmarish art of some white cards in THE nightmare set: Torment.
I'm still not sure if the artists sucked @zz, MarO lost his or her mind, or the card printer machine got shatterstormed. It's possibly a combination of all three.
See for yourself:
1) Angel of retribution.
I love Rk Post, but this ***** got a giant growth cast on her face only. totally out of proportion.
3) all of the cards below.
You can't really see it here, but in real life, these card have extremly pixelated art. The original arts don't have this. Clearly a printer error!
Please don't image leech, and please put large images in spoilers.
Changed the [img] tags to [url] tags on the Angel artwork, and changed the card links so they're now magiccards.info links (which you are allowed to hotlink to).

I dont like thoughtseize. purple things attacking your head = discard, is cliche.

I've always hated pretty much all of the Boros/Szikzai pieces, for being so glossy and photorealistic looking.
Same goes for a lot of Aleksi Briclot pieces; just too uber-detailed and hyper-realistic.

My sig is not trolling. And it's not opinion, it's fact.
And I'm not changing it. I'm not gonna be browbeated by a moderator, simply because you don't like the fact that I'm bringing to light that the staff suspends half-decent posters, while allowing trolls to run rampant.
Well, you've still got about fourteen hours before you're infracted for noncompliance. Talk to whomever you want.
I totally agree with the aforementioned spoiled art for that card, but seeing as seconding it would be unoriginal, i say Wort, Boggart Auntie. she looks ugly, even for a lorwyn goblin. Ewwwwwwwww....lmao

Wort is actually one of my favorite pieces from Lorwyn.
In the same vein of thought as Kuberr, I think the artwork from Torment was of terrible quality. One that he failed to mention, though, was Major Teroh.
Like Kuberr said, it's hard to make it out on the computer, but go and grab a Major Teroh and take a look. The card looks like it got scanned in, cropped down and printed off a shoddy printer. It's one of the most computerized, pixellated cards out there. Ugh.
Is Samite Alchemist #116 supposed to look like a floating head and a hand?

I don't recall it being Chameleon Blur, it was a really old card.

GAH!
All of Justin Hampton's early cards are really terrible. However, the guy pulled it together, and did much better with:
Fyndhorn Elves
Dark Ritual (ice age)
And I actually like Psionic Entity which he did for Legends... go figure.
His art on his website (http://www.justinhampton.com/) is pretty cool now, though not Magicy at all... I wonder how old he was when he did some of the early stinkers...
And Amy Weber....
oh boy.
Even Time Walk is pretty bad
She did have awesome (but simple) stuff mixed in .... like Disenchant
her new stuff is pretty uh... crafty looking. (Like.. county fair style crafty ) http://www.orion713art.blogspot.com/
I don't think she'll be doing Magic art again anytime soon.
Incidentally, I think they are both living in Portland now....

The actual technique is pretty bad on Time Walk.
Let's see:
