doesn't look like something WotC would send off to the printers to me, but it is damn good. It just seems to be missing something, i think it's the shading.
Either way, i do like the piece, it just needs to be brought out more. fleshed out, i cant think of the term... damn.

yeah, i noticed the shading was a little off when i added the "we will endure" part.
Actually, the shading is fine. You need to add better highlights to define your edges. And you need to define things in general a little more. It's quite good other than that though. My only question is if the background was done by you, or if you ganked it.
I think its just over all too washed out. Too gray. I think if you added some color to the ground or mountains in the back it would look great.
The composition is great though. I love the myr.
It looks cool altough the color palette reminds me of nuclear winter or a sandstorm.
At first I thought that these weren't myr because the jagged reflection looked like teeth or a beak of an ancient bird and the I-don't-know-what-that-blue-circle-on-myr-is-called looked like an eye.
i wanted to make a landscape like the ones in time-spiral / Future sight. Barren and dusty ... at dusk
i´ve been toying with the possibility of adding more background
your brushwork is splendiforous. when you come to your final touchups, small dabs of color would work wonders. yellows and oranges to represent the dusk, as is, the glow on the myrs is a wonderful little way to draw the eye.
above all, i really admire the composition, something i've never quite gotten hold of.
The background is good, but I feel like you should add more definition to the foreground. That would bring the myrs forward (their edges are a bit fuzzy, and they're blending into the background a bit), and make the piece look more complete/finished. On that note, you shouldn't define the background anymore; if you do, it'll come too far forward. It's quite good as it is
The idea of this being in a dust storm or something like that isn't bad, but then you need to make the air look full of dust or something. Right now all your colors are essentially exactly the same value, and it looks incredibly
BORING.
Here, look at this:
All I did was bump up the contrast (and brightness) of the stuff in the foreground, and it looks way more interesting. It might not be the effect you were going for, but unless you are very careful about it, a picture with high differences in color value will look much better than one where all the colors are the same brightness. It's a pretty good composition and you did a great job with the shading, but none of that matters when all the viewer sees is a giant boring expanse of brownish gray.

Wow, i really makes a lot of difference.
I'll admit i always had problems with picking the right colors/tones both on digital and acrylic card alterations. It one of my major problems as a (hobbyist) painter. Its good to get this sort of constructive feedback. I'll mess around with the levels and colors and see how i can improve it (copy whatever you did :D)
I make the same mistake myself A LOT. A good way to check is to convert your picture to grayscale (in general, I mean; it was pretty obvious on this piece since everything was the same color. It is still very possible and much harder to spot when you have a variety of colors). If all of it looks the same, you need more contrast.
The easiest way to fix it (outside of using a filter like I did) is to pick a really dark color and go over your shadows with it, and use a really bright color and go over your highlights. It's tough to avoid ending up with a flat image, but it really pays off in a big way to pay attention while you're working to how dark or bright your darkest and lightest areas are. Just try to keep it in mind.
Regardless, it's a pretty solid piece! The finer details are a bit messy, but the metallic sheen on the myr is aces and the image as a whole works really well.
If you want the specifics for how I adjusted it:
I just copied it so I had two identical layers. I bumped the contrast up on the top layer, and then erased out the background with a soft brush, leaving only the foreground on the "high contrast" layer. It's a quick fix, but I'm a big fan of picking the right colors from the get-go, since in the long run it'll help a lot more.
I went ahead and changed the contrast.. I know the topic is old but i loved the picture and i feel this is what everyone wanted it to look like yes? I jope the creator doesnt mind aswell.
