Hello, I am Adrian Ferrer, screen name Sixten. I live and work in Seattle, WA, USA. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle School of Animation Art and Design.
I threw together a quick comic strip about the new and controversial card Lotus Cobra, and was encouraged by the positive response after Evan Erwin (misterorange) linked to it on Twitter. So here is a new strip for the Zendikar release, along with the first strip for those that missed it.
I don't draw as well as TomeBoy or joke as well as 5ColorControl or the late great UGMadness (which I read regularly during its run and even did a guest comic for), but I hope someone out here will be amused. I intend to make more of these in the future.
You have a lot of potential and a very nice drawing style.
I´d love to see more of your work in the future!
PS: People are going to hate you for the fact you draw MaRo as a devil imp.
That's been done before a lot! I don't mind though.
Flappy: I did depict Mark Rosewater as an imp because of the UG Madness tradition.
yawg07, Guardman, Cyrax777: Yeah, one of these days G.I.JOE will show up at a Pro Tour investigating rumors of increased COBRA activity.
Itachi: The last time I posted a comic on a Magic forum I got called a "weeaboo". While that's not surprising given what my drawing style looks like, it kept me from posting on Magic forums for a while. It's good that people here have Cirno avatars and stuff.
Taylor: Thanks for the offer, but I'll be hosting these myself, just not for a few more months. I am working on a 150-hour commission right now, which keeps me from turning out these strips regularly. But once I finish with that, I will create a site for these and officially set up shop as a webcomic.
Everyone: The positive response encourages me. The reaction was a lot better than the last time I posted a comic on a Magic forum. Thank you for your support. I'm working on the next strip, which should be ready at noon, Pacific Time, on Friday, October 9. Here's a preview:
Well I'd read your web comic, Your art is good and the material is funny and if these are your definition of quick then I certainly think your more than capable of sustaining viewers.
@Reused: Your criticism is valid. It's going to be hard to find someone to write these strips for me, but in the meantime I can at least try to implement some of your suggestions. I cut down on the amount of text in my scripts for the upcoming release, to avoid drowning out the core of the joke.
Also, despite the fact that I am an art school graduate, I'm not all that good of an artist (if I was, I'd be a professional artist and not some website programmer). You are right in that I am not using the full extent of my abilities (this would probably be a good example of "full extent") but I have to balance the art quality with the need to complete these strips quickly and regularly. The art in these strips may be below the standard you're used to, but it's the best that I can do within my time limit. Most of these strips take less than six hours to draw.
/2isaccia: The original plan actually had all the characters looking like little kids. But I figured that wouldn't go over too well.
As promised, here are new strips for today's deadline. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you enjoy them. There are no references to Lotus Cobra, although more of those are planned in the future.
wow...I m really impressed with your art and the humor you put into them. keep it up!

That is Sorin in the first one, right? It's kind of hard to tell. You might need to give him some sort of distinguishing feature (or find one from his art), like Chandra's goggles. Otherwise, great work! I still think your Lotus Cobra one is the best, but they're all funny.
Sorin looks like Sorin. If he were to add fangs you would tell, yes, but it wouldn't of had looked...well...decent.
Lovely two comics.
Laughed and thought "two thumbs up".

I am impressed and laughing hard. You've done a marvelous job with this and you certainly have talent. Keep this going, I'll be checking this thread a lot now.
I love them both, your artistic talents, are well recieved, however the only real critique i can offer is Color. Color made UG Madness good, Color keeps making 5CC (pun not intended) good, Tomeboy sadly died off, (at least afaik) but it was good with color. a Writer would be a genius addon, but you seem to be doing well, the whole "loyalty" joke was good. keep it up.
edit: color would also give distinquishing characteristics to Sorin, with the Whitish Grey hair. and a background to compare him too.
You should do stuff for all of the walkers, like Chandra Nalaar, meeting Chandra Ablaze (kinda like a Twilight Zone touch to it)
Where in Seattle, it'd be fun to meet up and maybe create these strips, your art and my humor (however dark it may be) I'd be perfect for Sorin
