Why is it that I can only see a user's most recent 1000 posts when looking at their post history? That is, if a user has more than 1000 posts, how can I look at their posts from more than 1000 back?

Yeah, I find myself being frustrated by this a lot. If there is a way around it though I am sure someone will tell you here. I looked on vB forums and it looks like it's a pain in the ass to fix. With the new forum Software it might be a nice issue to fix. (I am curious what my first post was... I bet it was in Rules and I got an infraction...... yeah, I'm pretty sure it actually was :p)
We can in theory change it (I do it for admin purposes now and then, and then change it back when I'm done), but searching is such a strain on the server, so everyone being able to search up many thousands of posts at the same time might cause issues.
They used to have no limit on searches on MTGNews, back when it was still around.
There were consistently a couple of users who, if you tried to do an all-posts search on them, would cause the forum to crash.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
If I were to search your posts for ones where you said "elusive fish", it would search the full body of your posts, it just would only return the 1000 most recent that fit that search criteria. If you somehow had used the phrase in more than 1000 posts, it would cut off the oldest.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

That's just as far back as the search and "View posts" goes.

So is there any alternative, or am I just stuck needing to manually sift through huge portions of the site history?

Got it.
Thanks for the quick replies and the help.

Is it possible for it to be able to go back further, but display 1000 posts at a time?
