I feel it is SLIGHTLY too strict as I have seen topic creators get infractions/warnings/locked threads because of something someone else did. Why not just hide the post? I've never seen that been done.
I feel a bit scared of this forum, to be honest. It's too set out and to make it feel less strict, the humour section could spread out a bit instead of having it all piled up into one place. Like the warning some dude got for posting about cutting decks with a knife... Why did he have to put that in humour? No humour in threads at all makes them feel a bit bleak. In my opinion, as I have been mods on like, 3 other sites, the spam warnings should only be given if they contribute NOTHING to the topic at all. A little joke is fine but when it goes really bad, like... "I don't care, now learn the internetzorz" or something like that then the infraction is good in that case.
I just can't see much happyness around, is all.
Are on-topic jokes really that bad? I mean on topic in that they are about the topic but don't have any non-joke content.
I suppose it is saving us from hearing the same stupid joke a hundred times in a thread - and people are free to make the stupid jokes as long as they are intelligent enough to muster a non-joke comment to throw in there.
AFAIK, the jokes are allowed. You simply have to make the joke and then contribute some nugget that makes your post worthwhile to the scores of people who aren't going to find your post funny.

Mhm. The issue is, there's a thin line between humor and just trolling the forum. What some people see as humor, others will just see as troll or spam posts. It's unfortunate, but true.

Not really. I've been getting away with it for years. Everybody else just tries to hard =) or too little, or not at all. Humor is such a fine art to ruin really, its a shame what some people do here, really it is.

Yeah. I suppose the reason I'm so locked in the "OMGSARKAZM!!?1!1?!!?" thing is because I come from Gleemax, where the moderation is so lax that it could take days for a multiply-reported thread to get locked, and the CPA, where there's 3 moderators total, and the spam-level is ridiculously high (in a really, really good way).
Honestly, I can't live without my daily dosis of spam and NO3.

Not really weak; we have rules here that are expected to be followed. Warnings aren't serious, unless you show a pattern of behavior that shows you are unwilling to follow even the smallest rules we do have here.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Well, I mean no offense by this, but I looked over your warnings, and it seems apparent that you either didn't read the rules, or didn't grasp their meaning.

I guess in the end it all comes down to what type of posts you enjoy (both reading and writing). No offense to you, but I can't stand the official magic forum. I visited there some, and the threads were overflowing with 2-3 word posts (a lot of conversational posts between two members. And by that, I mean they would have been more appropriate on an instant messager) and random linked images. Some people love that enviroment, and thrive in it. Some don't. So, I guess my point is that there are different sites which fufill different needs. There are spam fest forums, troll forums, hard-core strategy forums and then salvation. I'm sure there are even more.
we arent forcing you to stay... If your so miserable here go. All you seam to do is complain. Seriously. The rules are easy to learn. Granted you may get warned here or there BUT if you choose to ignore those rules and warnings its your own damn fault.
Prime example be my lastest infrations/warnings and suspendsion. Who do i blame for them. Do I call the mods Nazi's and Communists? Do I call this Soviet Russia? NO WHY? cause I understoad that breaking rules will get my ass in trouble. I have no one to blame BUT myself.

Honestly, I like a change. And this place is a refreshing change of pace from my usual spammy ways. And, another point for Sally here: Sally doesn't hit the '**** up and die' button all that often either. Phailmax is down AGAIN.

You should change the name of this thread back. While you might no longer find this place too strict it seemed like this thread was a good place for generally upset people to make a post complaining about X.
Basically, it seems to me that this thread was a good 'pressure valve' for people to complain on, without having to make a new thread about it.
I think you should change the thread name back to what it was, so that it can continue in that role.
every one gets spam reminders once in a while, and warnings serve mostly as that: reminders, they are not too serious unless you get too many of them. thus, it is not too much of a problem, even if you think the moderation is a bit too strict.
BTW, when do infractions fade away? I'm on 2 points right now, and I sure as hell don't want to get suspended; I wouldn't survive!

The rules, in the past, have been changed. There is no reason to suspect that the rules will not changed again in the future. As such, there should be nothing wrong with a user complaining against a rule and trying to get it changed.
They should, of course, still recieve a penalty if they break the rule, but all these people who are saying "don't question, just obey" are taking a niave stance.
only been here for less than a week and ive got three warning already.... WEAK!
Weak, yes... but for you. Seriously, if you get multple warnings before even breaking 30 posts, you should be reevaluating the site rules by reading them. The first or second warning should let you know things must be different from what you expected and I would imagine you should try to understand the expectations of users here and not have a 10% fail rate.
That being said, I agree with Drcaligari that just because you are here doesn't mean you have given up the right to ***** about moderator policy or implimentation.
