I was there for all of it: now that I think back, I wish I'd had popcorn.
A slight correction on Crazed Mike:
While he did agree with me regarding Bel's intolerable practices of not appointing any new administrators after SIX months of WW clearly being absent from forum affairs, what went on between them was quite a bit personal. Mike and his girlfriend, "lil akroma" both posted on this site. At the time, they were spending the summer about 600 miles away from home at Mike's grandmother's house. Mike, in confidence (having been Bel's friend since he became a mod when sneaky retired, at my recommendation), told Bel that once they got back to their hometown, he was considering breaking up with lil akroma. Belgareth in his wonderfully hypocritical fashion (after promising to keep this private), goes and tells lil akroma. The end result? lil akroma and Crazed Mike got to spend 3 really awkward months stuck 600 miles away from home because Belgareth wanted to be the Knight in Shining ArmorTM. Quite naturally, this factored into Hannes' decision to replace Belgareth, as screwin' around with users' and staffs' personal lives is very inappropriate for an Administrator.
hahaha wow, I'd never heard that part of it.
A slight correction:
At the time, I was a really pretentious dick and was being retarded and decided to be cavalier about nipples. These days I've flip-flopped.
Weren't you afraid of your mom walking in and seeing the word and banning you from the site or something?
I'd really like to hear more about Xen's "hacking" plans.
I can't remember whether this was when he was unbanned or not. If he was, he was using one of his many alternate accounts. Anyway, he was using PMs to "recruit" people to come to his new MTGSalvation which was, like the very original, a crappy phpBB board with white font on black background. They mostly talked about hacking into MTGS and redirecting the DNS from this site to theirs. Like many self-proclaimed "hackers," they didn't actually know how to hack jack, and it petered out until eventually Xen took the site hidden and it was never heard from again.
More!! MOAR! I want R_E stories and Sneaky stories!!
Don't have any. They're boring in the mod lounge.
Edit: just thought of one.
You may remember M Shumate, liar extraordinaire and dramawhore. Once he got angry that the mods weren't listening to him or something and so he claimed that MTGS was falling apart and started his own site, modeled forum-for-forum off of MTGSalvation. He did the same thing that MTGS did to MTGNews and would advertise it anywhere he could, and then complained of prosecution when we'd delete the ads. The site was so unpopular that he actually offered monetary compensation to people who would post on his site, most of whom were others who were also dramawhores assured of MTGS' falling apart and that there would be an "exodus" (god i hate that word) to M Shumate's site. I don't even remember the name of the site. None of us in the Mod lounge really cared or felt threatened by the "competition" but we always kept tabs on it because it was so hilarious and pathetic. I think their forums ended up getting hosted by magicdeckvortex.com for a while and then disappeared.
Another: There used to be a guy named IBeatTomGuevin who posted in T2 a lot. Now, in my experience, most people who are good at type 2 and post about it on our forums are huge asses, or at least a higher percentage of them are asses than people who are good at other formats or who post in other forums. Finding a good T2 mod is really hard, by the way. Anyway, IBeatTomGuevin was no exception, and he eventually got banned for, surprise, being an ass. He got really pissed and, one morning around 4AM when I was doggedly working on some Physics homework, IM'd me. I should have just blocked him, but I was an idiot and tired and so I humored him. I humored him for two hours as he was a general ass and acted condescending and accused me of a lot of stuff including favoritism and conspiracy. Then he threatened to post the IM (on the aforementioned M Shumate site, which had become a rallying point for people determined to "attack" MTGS). I was pretty much "okay, go ahead, nothing incriminating in here" and he got mad and I finally mustered up the brains to block him and go to sleep. I posted the whole log in the Mod Lounge if anybody who has access feels like posting it. It's pretty hilarious and embarrassing, for me and doubly so for him.
Funny you should mention that as i'd PM'd him about it today.
He keeps editing my username whenever he copy/pastes my entries for the DCC.
I'm finding it quite annoying especially as WotC have used Damned and Damnation a few times.

Unca' Gobberboy, would that be Manatap, a now defunct site?
Your hate for the word "exodus", why? You even requested that anyone who posted the term in your leaving thread be suspended for two weeks.
This makes extraordinary material for reading to sleep.

Could you post a short summary of R_E's confusion at a different word for genitalia?
You mean, like, your custom tag, "TITS AND COOTERS"?

I remember that site. www.Manatap.com, or something. they had about as many mods as here does, but with a tenth of the forums and a thousandth of the users.
that was a very interesting read, all of it. i didn't know most of the stuff from before bel. Thanks Unca gobbo
Unca' Gobberboy, would that be Manatap, a now defunct site?
Your hate for the word "exodus", why? You even requested that anyone who posted the term in your leaving thread be suspended for two weeks.
The term "exodus" in reference to internet message boards has become a catchphrase for people who take the internet way too seriously, and usually they have a chicken little attitude about how things work. If you hear someone mention that "soon there will be an exodus," you know they are full of crap.
It's like if you hear the word "toxins," you know that whoever said it knows nothing about medicine.
If anyone is particularly interested in any of the bull**** that happened at ManaTap, bug me about it. I became an admin there before ceasing to really care anymore.
To be honest, I didn't leave because I thought there'd be an exodus, I did it to feel better about myself because I knew I could go far there, fast. And I did. And then it didn't matter to me anymore. Thanks go to YANP for pointing me there.
Although to be fair, I was a drama whore, even though I never admitted it. Not that I ever caused it, but I was one of those guys that fans the flames.
One of my current warnings was earned doing just that (whoo Forum Awards!). The other came from owning Solace in an argument with just one word (i.e. spam, although current threads and opinions would try to convince you otherwise).
This was a thrilling read; I was only around for about half of it. I was also a member of Project Mayhem, which from the Clan perspective played a bigger role than the Called during the decline of the Belgareth era (playing host to such illustrious personalities as ButteBlues and Belgareth and Raia all at once! the agony!).
And then there was whole thing I got suspended for involving Mayhem and the offshoot clan Elitist (now called NPI I believe), which I believe was created to feed the drama appetite of bored Mayhem members.
Hey, there should be another one of these threads for all the Clan drama! That would be great!
I knew about half of it before hand (pretty much everything related to News directly like SS and the end result of the Bel drama, but not much in between). Still, nice to see how far we've come in the history of this site.
High five everybody!
EDIT: In response to Feuer's point on Mayhem and NPI - I started posting in Project Mayhem about one thread after the whole "BB says Bel's a jerk" episode, so there was probably some of that going around. That was back when we still had everyone - AgentDark, the NPI crew, everyone. Then people started going away for various reasons (the only one I remember directly was that Grimclaw went to Hyrule, Bel and Raia's offshoot clan that eventually self-destructed when people realized it was kinda awful), to the point where it was pretty much me, Feuerdrache, and AgentDark who were still posting, and I wasn't even an official member. BB, StormBlind (back then called Rahl/Lord Rahl), and those guys had left to form a clan without a really set name (which would become Elitist and later NPI).
So, basically, I'd been waiting on getting confirmed to join the clan, so I brought it up to those guys and they pretty much confirmed me, but right then, I decided too many people had left and PM died so I went to Elitist. I stayed there until BB left, and at that point, I realized I missed everyone at PM and went back as well.
So, yeah, I've pretty much been chasing BB all over Clans. But at least it wasn't Robot Jesus - THAT was a nightmare.
Anyway, who are all these banned members, +t!, and a heckload of people, and why is +t! deleted?
+t! was a troll, who was pretty well-liked in the gutter. eventually he decided that he'd had enough and posted tubgirl through the forums. ? instead of banning him i think he was just (accidentally or not, i'm not sure) deleted.
To be exact, every second member was a mod.
Oh, I remember those times. I used to visit manatap.com just for the sake of hillarity...
But hey, it was Xenphire. I wouldn't expect any less
Thanks Goblinboy for the memories, we miss you
i was a member there, with like four posts or something. it was all very amusing. but it was kind of obvious it couldn't survive though.
Stormblind was an admin at one point, and yeah fuer too.
? instead of banning him i think he was just (accidentally or not, i'm not sure) deleted.
If I remember, r_e deleted him to get rid of the posts, or something. I remember someone saying "oops," and then no one cared.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
I wonder if one day we'll look back on Tneill and say "That was interesting."...
Nah, I'll probably always say it was ****ing stupid.

Oh that reminds me, not exactly historical but: you may have noticed that Lesurgo does not curse. Ever. He will go to great lengths not to.

Trick is I stopped giving a rat's ass as to whether or not she starts going psycho; I just ignore her anymore.
