I really don't understand this though. I think there are plenty of appropriate places on the forums to make jokes. We shouldn't all be sitting around as though we represent all things serious. Surely a forum mostly frequented by teens should be laid back, even if it's just slightly.
qft.
That's exactly what invisitext is used for, as a JOKE.
In Feyd's example, the average user will not spend a couple of minutes (or however long it takes) to unscramble a post. They will, however, spend one second involving one click and drag to look at a partially 'invisible' part of a post. Also, it's not like someone's going to make a partially hidden post in the middle of Debate or somewhere. There are places where it is acceptable to make jokes. That's what a lot of the posts using invisitext are. Jokes.
"Hello! I've come to serenade you. I can't play guitar. I can't play this accordion either, but I thought it'd be less obvious."

Not that I'm suggesting anything by this, but last I checked, respect was something that was mutual.
As far as I can tell, he completely ignored the point I was making.
Plain ol' ignorant posts in these threads are far too common, and it's because Gutter trolls like yourself come in here to ruin the thread. And that's not a lack of respect from me, that's just stating the truth. If you deny it, well, then you're being a Gutter troll.
I tend to ignore the Gutter troll posts here, but when someone's post is basically a "Yeah, you tell 'em!" kinda thing, an actual attempt to connect a Gutter troll post to the discussion at hand, I'm not inclined to be nice about it.

Well, you seem to demand respect just for having bold text under your name... why should anyone respect you if you act like this to everyone?

Ditto.
There were pissy people on both sides that could very well have not said a lot of the things they said. All I did was point this out. There's no need to bandy names and get cranky.
Well, you seem to demand respect just for having bold text under your name... why should anyone respect you if you act like this to everyone?
Actually, I don't really need any respect, personally. I wasn't speaking for myself. I recognize that I'm a total douchebag and I don't expect anyone to worship me because my name's bolded.
I just hate seeing other mods like Nai and Yukora and Krashbot get hated on because it's what all the cool kids are doing. They don't really do anything malicious to deserve it.
If Nai is facing criticism here, it is because those posting here are concerned about some of his more recent moderation actions which are relevant to the topic at hand.

You and I both know that's not all that I'm talking about.
This, to me, exemplifies one of the most irritating arguments here:
Joke posts are spam unless they're in a thread dedicated to jokes. They do not contribute to discussion, and, in fact, disrupt it.
Now I agree with most of what you've said as I hold respect for the MTGS staff however this statement as an argument for what is at question is plain stupid. Because you've put yourself in a double-binded argument
either
A) You give Nai an infraction because he was doing a bunch of jokes as well and if he infracts one person for spamming a thread with jokes yet makes the same joke himself you have to infract him.
or
B) You show favoritism to the mods and disregard the users. If you want respect you can't demand it, no one likes Fidel Castro cause he's an ass to other people. He demands respect and instead gets fear, they are not one in the same.
So either suck it up, let Nai admit he's human and made a mistake and we'll respect him more for admitting he's wrong. Or give a user an infraction for making a joke on April Fools day... something about "JOKE DAY" just screams "Make jokes" and something about mods being able to do it but not users seems like blatant asshattery.

Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.
The staff is looking into the problem of Invisitext right now.
This thread has served its purpose, and has went off-topic rather nicely.

Invisible/unreadable text
All posts must be made using fonts and colors that are easily readable on all available forum skins. Posts containing hard to read or invisible font will be edited to be more readable and the poster can be infracted.
Moderators are not expected to seek out invisible text in posts to prove content in a post. On the same note, any content violating the forum rules in invisitext is treated the same as a violation not in invisitext.
This obviously doesn't mean we will seek out all uses of Invisitext, but posts made only or mostly in invisitext OR dark skin invisitext are going to be affected by this change in rules.

If thats what you're doing, you're going to have a tonne of infractions handed out. For people using dark skin, its nearly impossible to read ALOT of peoples posts.

I've been using dark skin for a year, and other than Good&Evil I can read everyone's posts.
Well, at least I could until the last week or so, but that's a different story and not really relevant.

You know what would simplify this a lot?
Remove the color option in AutoBB (yes, it's very easily done and if you or Lesurgo would like to have me tell you how to do it, I'll be more than glad to).

Can be infracted is an important part.
If you are using that color to be a jerk, you might get infracted.
Otherwise it would just be changed.
We haven't had a big problem with text colors, besides the occasional YELLOW post, so I don't think this will be a problem KCW.
The Auto-BB thing is an idea. I brought up getting rid of the specific color, which wouldn't work, but not removing auto-bb of colors.

You could very well disable specific colors. It would complicate the plugin a fair amount, but it's doable.
The problem is, as stated above, due to the sheer number of possible colors on the web, you'd never be able to actually cover them all.
The best bet would be to simply remove autobb colors.
Considering there are 16-million possible colors... there are a lot of colors that would be considered eye-scarring on various skins.
I meant 20 colors out of 40 from the drop-down menu that can't be used. Seems almost like trolling the userbase to put the colors there to be used, and then edit the posts of anyone who uses them.

Of course they're in the drop-down: that's vBulletin's default range of colors for those people who've yet to figure out what the hell a hex code is.
There are many people who legitimately like to use certain colors and fonts. Sapphiretri is one that comes to mind immediately, but there are many more. Eliminating all non-normal colors is not necessary in my opinion.
People should have at least enough common sense to know to not use bright yellow text and the like.
I'd also like to note that, as per these new rules, the past several posters who posted in text invisible to dark skin users need to refrain from doing so.
