Today (sic) I received an e-mail from WotC. Here in Brazil we will have no Conflux prerelease - at least until February's 28.
Well, that's it!
After 10 years I restarted to play Magic and my first experience was that - no Conflux prerelease.
To all that don't know, to buy boosters we pay twice the price and our average per capita income is one third when compared with an average American Magic player. To make it easier, the same product cost us six times more.
So, when Brazil's team finished top four and PV got top eight at last World Championships, it was not because we have support, but because our Magic players are some kind of heroes and I wanna congratulate them.
Jus to remember, we will have no Conflux prerelease - at least until February's 28.
Many thanks to WotC and specially to Devir (Brazil's WotC distributor).
Yeah, same thing happens in some other countries and it sucks.:-/ And actually, the countries were I lived, Costa Rica and Panama, consider Brazil more advanced than they are.
Panama is a country where Magic reportedly has become some sort of monopoly played only by those with enough money/power. Activity has greatly decreased in the playing community since Lorwyn, and many have left the game. Because of my situation, I had to leave Panama 4 years ago, and one of the many positive things of coming to the States is rejoicing in a relatively smooth MTG environment. I'm grateful for that and I hope everyone in countries like USA also feel thankful for living in MTG's country of birth... and probably the best country to play the game in.
I'm sorry for your situation, MDalton, but I hope this can at least motivate American players to realize how easy we have it.
Cards here are printed in Portuguese and this is one of the problems I guess.
You don't get English cards? In Costa Rica and Panama Prerelease and Release cards are in Spanish, but that's only because it's WotC policy. Since the demand for Spanish cards is too low (people hate those), stores don't ask for them and the majority of cards are always in English.
That's kinda fishy then... it may imply that storeowners in Brazil ask for Portuguese shipments on purpose to keep the playing community in check, perhaps? I hope not, but we're well aware of how corruption works in the "Third World" to a point of near-cynicism.

Store owners probably preferred to have only one language cards in stock, but WotG policy isn´t that - we have a lot of players that don´t speak english.
But the "market law" is right here and almost all player buy from internet stores around the world.

I like 4/4s for 7.
We have a strong MtG environment here, but only because the player´s will and effort.

When we couldn´t play the Pre-release tomorrow, our fellings will be of an enormous frustration.

We have, of course. Most stores sell Portuguese, English, Chinese and Japanese cards.
At least half of my T2 cards are in English.
