An idea. How about an award for people who contribute heavily to mtgsalvation called an "Angel of MTGSalvation"?
Perhaps where it says "Experienced Mage","Wizard Mentor",etc?
Or a little angel statuette where you put trophies?
I nominate MazeofZith for the creation and upkeep of the "Can A Card Be Strictly Better Than Another Card" thread.

The frame on the green Kamahl, Pit Fighter is very exceedingly awesomely beautifully artistically changing-to-many-adjectives-into-adverbs-ly nice.

One turn later, 1/1 turds come out.
Well, you can see the blog posts, there is this "Writer" tag, i think people who run avy shops get it as well, moderators get them and so on. You can see the posts of people, any awards they won and so on. I'd say that there are enough stuff for this already.

The Sage is occupied with the unspoken
and acts without effort.
Teaching without verbosity,
producing without possessing,
creating without regard to result,
claiming nothing,
the Sage has nothing to lose.
I really don't think that thread warrants any sort of award; it's not all that big of a deal. The annual forum awards do a good job already, and anything else should be for contributions to the rumor mill each season - for which I believe there's already some system of recognition set up there. And yeah, there's the custom title, which one can hope comes after a long line of good posts.

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!
I agree, the forum awards fill most of that role and anyone who contributes will get to 1000 posts quick and can use a custom to distinguish themselves.
