For context for a local event back in November of 2017, I built a Reaper King deck to donate to the winner of the local commander event. Originally the deck was supposed to be done by October, but it still fit the holiday theme of November all the same.
Just for fun though I was wondering if you guys had to assign a commander deck to each month, and base that assignment on the most well known holiday of that month, what commander decks do you think best fit various respective months?
Obviously December would be a group hug deck, but which one given the many choices?
For February what kind of deck would you even build, or would one just do a decent panther commander deck?
Like I said this is thread is just for fun musings, but I am curious to hear you guys opinions.
January: Epiphany - Sen Triplets. Feel like baby Jesus and get all the things. Febuary: Valentine's Day - Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis. Because love is for everyone! March: St. Patrick's Day - Yeva, Nature's Herald. Obviously. April: April's Fools - Jhoira of the Ghitu. Suspend all the chaos spells! May: Mother's Day - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. Mommy loves (everyone of) you. June: Father's Day - Hazezon Tamar. Rain falls on fertile soil. Include your "and then daddy left" jokes here. July: Independence Day (lack of non-patriotic holidays, unfortunately) - Ruhan of the Fomori. "attack an opponent at random" says it all. August: Assumption of Mary (to fit the theme) - Bruna, the Fading Light. Angels and humans double tribal. September: Native American's Day (lack of alternatives) - Karona, False God. Appreciate all the tribes. October: Halloween - Leovold, Emissary of Trest. Embrace the horror (again). November: Thanksgiving - Zedruu the Greathearted. We all know Zedruu is the GOAT at giving. December: Christmas - Phelddagrif. Real grouphug decks have hippos!
February is Black History Month. It also holds V-Day.
- Captain Sisay, calling to mind leaders of the past, present, or future.
- Any Boros general because they use red, white, or red/white. Plus half of them are angels (pretend they are cupids) or LOVE artifacts or attacking or allies.
- Or just make something up about any red token general.
March is Yasova because it seems like it's gonna be all green, but it's still cold (so you have to stay warm). So probably either Surrak, too.
