I am trying to shake off years of abuse from a all-spike group that got me back into Magic and specifically EDH/Commander and they basically refused to play anything outside of 2 Headed Giant
After a while it became apparent that all the games always went the same way with one player getting Sword of Feast and Famine while the other player runs as many counterspells as they can (or the guy playing Purphoros just wrecked the other team) and I just quit the group
I'm looking to get back into a more casual group but having a bit of a hard time shaking off old habits: I'm trying to make Sydri deck but everytime I'm looking up cards I end up going for the super powerful effects and the ramp to race to it; to have a few wincons to end the game is fine but I'd also want the deck to do pull-off some fun off-the-wall effects that get everyone in a casual playgroup laughing because I enjoy slightly longer games, I don't play EDH/Commander for the game to end on turn 5 or 6
So I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions in Sydri? I never had an artifact deck and just got a copy so I'm looking there.
if theres one uber player and the others are casual, the way how we dealt with it is that i played a lot of copy/clone effects with counterspells and control, and kept that guy in check. he'd gun for me, i'd keep him down, and the others bashed their mons's goblin raiders together.
thats a bit weird though if theres one consistent strong player in a weaker meta, since normally they'd somehow balance themselves out, especially if they are part of a 'usual playgroup'.
The "one guy routinely dominates this playgroup" problem is a separate riddle to solve, though.

Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!
Sydri + thornbite staff = deathtouch damage to all opponents' creatures.
Sydri + voltaic construct + gilded lotus/grim monolith/basalt monolith (or mana vault, during upkeep) = infinite mana.
Sydri + training grounds + grim monolith/basalt monolith (or mana vault, during upkeep) = infinite mana.
Sydri + staff of nin = tap, destroy target creature.
ultimately with the construct one you could be a douche and use sol ring and just never end your turn because you can actually do something. Never thought Lattice would jump that high $$ wise ever too. I'm starting to see a trend of "if Sydri wasn't my general this deck would kinda suck."

Keep brewing.
Sydri + mycosynth lattice = 1, destroy target land.

My G Yisan, the Bard of Death G deck.
My BUGWR Hermit druid BUGWR deck.
Now to see how it performs!
Not so great since the new playgroup has one strong player that won every single game
Gonna have to upgrade!

Legacy - Solidarity - mono U aggro - burn - Imperial Painter - Strawberry Shortcake - Bluuzards - bom
