As I mentioned in a recent thread I finally got the Urza-tron (old stuff, I know) and need help using them. I'd like to build something according to this:
1. Budget - no rares / mythic
2. Urza-Tron with helpers - Expedition Map
3. Eldrazi ramp targets plus old-school X-Spells,
4. Eldrazi spawn too, for chump blockers / ramp
Possible? Any body here done it already? (tried searching) First time with ROE, first time with Urza-Tron... haven't even built ramp in a while....
Needs artifact based ramp? Gap in costs from 2 to 5 (Hatcher) Walls to stall? Smaller burn? Currently 8 slots open but feel free top adjust numbers elsewhere...
To start, add 4 Lightning Bolt, b/c a red deck without 'em ain't a red deck ;).
I'd add 2 more mountains, so you have a pretty solid chance of getting two red mana goin'...well, wait...do you feel you'll want to cast two of your red spells the same turn?
Otherwise, walls would be good to stall (in addition to the Lightning Bolts added)...Wall of Razors is neat-o.
Not interested in Artisan of Kozilek? And agreed 4 lightning bolts just make red decks better ;P

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
The problem I'm having with green and red, is that's alllllot of dedication to mana fixing and search and stuff. First you set up (what someone in a thread called) a three card combo (the Urza trifecta), and a portion of the deck dedicated to tutoring up the three-card combo...then the rest of the deck.
When you have the urza setup, then not only one color (red), but a second...
Well, my first try had 41 cards dedicated to mana or land search...
...that's kinda' crazy. I'm not sure about it...
The results, once you get it setup are cool, but some card draw to get to the rest of the deck may be neccesary.
DrDRum Hydras? Oooo, neat, I love rare / obscure / unsupported tribes! Urm. G/R is a great option, but I fear without duals (don't have any / can't afford them for now) I think Urzatron ramp will have to be mono-color. Possible with mana critters that add colors though...
Might tweak the numbers around and add some walls. If I get enough in, Vent Sentinel looks interesting, otherwise Razors looks nice or maybe AEther Membrane to stall.
noodle: I still need to get my LB playset together. I have 1 or 2. Fine suggestion though.
Blueberrybagel: Not a fan yet. Would be nice if there was a discard outlet to dump something for him to get out.
Kennethwong: I'd like to see a dual color UrzaTron ramp deck. I'd think they would be difficult without duals or some other expensive mana base. You help find some lists and I will consider. I am working on a classic GR (no Urza's) ramp deck at some point.
noodle: Dead? Naw, only like a few days old. I'm still going to build it maybe next month. Probably going to:
-1x Fireball (good late game)
-1x Hand
-1x Hatcher (5 mana!)
that's -3 and 8 open so 11 to fill
3x-4x small burn, Lightning Bolt, new Shock variant, etc. Incinerate,
+1 Mountain - yall think I'm too low
3x small Wall, maybe even Ogre Sentry or Wall of Razors
3x other wall, maybe AEther Membrane or Rage Nimbus
Gives me some time to develop. Not too many red walls...
